I woke up in the best of places. Cuddled up with my brother in his bed. There was no light in here since it was the basement. I could barely make out the outline of his body and that was from the little window that came from the ground floor outside. His chest rose then fell with heavy breaths that landed on me and ruffled my hair slightly.
.
Gee’s hand rested on my back and I bet if he moved it slightly there would have been a cold sensation, you know when you have your skin touching another part for a while and when you do move it, it gets cold? Yeah, that feeling probably would’ve been there if he moved his hand. Our legs were entwined with one another’s. This position brought back the memories from last night. How I had a nightmare and came to Gee because I was scared. That all led up to us kissing and getting into this position.
.
A light sheet was draped over our bodies. Gee didn’t have anything on but I had my sweatpants on. I refused to move them last night when he tried to take them off. The room smelled beautiful to me. It smelled of Gee. Everything in this room smelled and looked like him. Well, obviously since it is his room.
.
A knock on Gee’s door scared me. “Gerard.” It was my father. Apparently getting him up for school. “Get your faggot ass up now.” He said sternly. He hated Gee for being who he was. If he knew that I was the same he would hate me too. But in my parents eyes I’m perfect. The best child you could ask for. “Gerard I said up now! You’ll be late for school. Your brother already left.” He hit the door one last time before walking up the stairs away from Gee’s room.
.
“Gee?” I asked, speaking softly. “Gee, we have to get ready for school.” Wait, didn’t he say I already left for school? Oh, crap! He hasn’t realized that I never left, that I came here last night.
.
“Mikey? Shouldn’t you have already left for school?” His eyes were still closed and his voice was drenched in sleep.
.
“Yeah, you too. Let’s get up. I can’t be late for school.” Gee chuckled and opened his beautiful eyes to look at me.
.
“Fine then Mr. Perfect. Let’s get up and go.”
.

.
We ran from the car to the school and barely made it to our classes, but not before saying a quick bye to each other. Getting ready was hard. I had to put on some of Gee’s clothes then climb out of that little window. I couldn’t just walk out of the house because I supposedly already left for school. Which we all know that I didn’t cuz I woke up on top of Gee.
.
I walked into the classroom just as the bell rang for homeroom. I took my seat next to my best friend Frankie and sighed. “Hey Frank. What’s up?” I whispered. He took out his notebook and was doodling on it this moment.
.
“Nothing, hey you said you’d meet me before school started. What happened? And why are you wearing your brother’s clothes?” He continued to draw.
.
“I woke up late. And all my clothes were dirty.” I smiled, thinking about the reason I woke up late and why I was wearing Gee’s clothes.
.
“That’s a first. “ He placed the back of his hand on my forehead to feel my temperature. I swatted it away and tried to look mad.
.
“I’m not sick so stop it.” He shrugged, chuckled, and then went back to drawing on his notebook. The class seemed to drag on forever, just like the next and the next. One more class until lunch, until I get to see my brother again, I thought.
.
“You okay Mikey? You’ve been drifty lately.” Frank said waving a hand in front of my face.
.
“Yeah, just tired. Had a late night.” I smiled at the thought. Yeah, I did have a late night last night. A late night that was so damn wonderful.
.
“What did you do?” Dammit! Why must he ask so many questions? Let’s see, should I tell him that I had a nightmare, or that I was in my brother’s room making out with him? Either way it all leads back to the thought of me seeing Gee and him doing what he did to me.
.
“Studying. You know me.” That was simple enough. It does seem like something I would do. Why wouldn’t he believe me? He nodded his head in and understanding way. The bell rang for lunch and I practically flew out of my seat and ran towards the door. I almost forgot Frankie. He caught up and flashed me a worried look. I would be worried too if I was him.
.
We went to our usual spot for lunch; the spot under the big tree on campus. The shadow it created was beautiful. I once asked Gee if he would draw it for me. He said, ‘One day.’ I wonder when ‘one day’ is. Or if it will ever come. We took out our lunches and ate quietly for the time being. I watched my peers go on with their lives and their problems.
.
My life was ‘perfect.’ I had no ‘problems.’ That’s what I was told to have everyone think. Only Frankie knew of the problems at home. The fighting between my parents, my dad getting drunk and taking it out on my brother, and how my parents can’t wait till Gee’s 18 so they can kick him out of the house. When that day comes I will be right there beside him. Leaving the house with him. No one, not even my parents are going to separate us.
.
“So, want to get together after school? Go to the mall, or hang out at your or my house?” Hmm… Hang out with my best friend or hang out with my best friend/brother? I can’t look suspicious so I guess it’s Frankie.
.
“Sure, you can come over after school. We have that project to work on anyway.” Silence enveloped us again. Not an awkward one though. 15 minutes until lunch was over and my brother still wasn’t here. Where could he have gone? As if on cue he exited the school and walked over to us. He sat down next to me and gave me a kiss on the cheek. Nothing unusual, he always did. Now I’m wondering why he always kissed me on the cheek. Was it because he always felt the same way about me? I bet that’s why. I’ll have to ask him later.
.
“Hey Mikey, Frank.” Gee said and nodded in Frank’s direction.
.
“Hi GeeGee. Where you been?” I asked.
.
“Yeah, hey Gerard.” Frank said. Only I call him Gee or GeeGee. No one else can or has tried. Gee doesn’t have many friends, only Bob and Ray. This is because of the same reason as our parents hate him. He’s gay.
.
“I was talking to some people.” Gee said. Yeah, more like fighting. There’s a bruise under his jaw and he has a little blood on his lip. I wiped the blood off of his lips and sighed. When I touched him he shivered slightly and I smirked.
.
“You gonna be okay?” Frank asked. Frank’s a good friend. He helps me a lot. I mean a lot, a lot. He cares about me and Gee. The bestest friend you can ask for.
.
“Mhm.” That was the last thing said because the bell rang. Frank put his notebook that he took our earlier in his bag and stood up. He started to walk; he knew I like to talk to my brother for a little while after the bell rang, and yet I’m never late for class. Odd.
.
“You really gonna be okay?” I asked when Frank was out of hearing distance.
.
“Yeah. Nothing I can’t handle.” I sighed roughly before standing up and pulling Gee with me.
.
“Just be careful.”
.
“I will. Like I said, nothing I can’t handle.”
.
“Still, be careful.” He rolled his eyes and looked away. “For me.” He looked back to me with a smile plastered onto his face. He should really smile more often. His smile’s beautiful.
.
“For you? Anything.” I smiled. Gee took a look around before leaning down and pecking me on the lips. A smile crept upon my lips when he pulled away. I had like two minutes before the late bell rang so I best hurry.
.
“Thanks, I guess I gotta go.” I kissed the bruise under his jaw lightly before scampering off to my next class. “Oh and Frank’s coming over after school.” I called back.
