Haley Wells 2 (Fred Weasley Love Story) ch 1
Chapter 15 : Haley Wells 2 (Fred Weasley Love Story) ch 15
Haley was right. That day was perfect and so was the month that followed. Snape didn’t do anything to her that would provoke her and he didn’t give her any detentions. Fred and George of course got a handful of detentions but that was considered normal. The Hogwarts grounds became warmer as it was now spring and also the last day of March.
“Guess what tomorrow is!” said Fred and George at dinner that evening in their annoying ‘we are up to something’ voices.
“Hmm, let me think,” said Ashley sarcastically, “Could it be April Fools Day?”
“It could be,” said George, “but it’s also much more important than that.”
“I dunno,” said Ashley, “I give up.”
“It’s our seventeenth birthday!” yelled Fred and George together.
“The day we come of age!” yelled Fred.
“That’s just wonderful,” said Haley taking a bite of her chicken. “That’s all we need is for you two to be allowed to use magic out of school.”
“It’s going to be a great summer,” said George winking at his brother.
That night it was really hard for Haley to sleep. She kept having these awful dreams where she was at an orphanage and all of the muggle children kept taking her wand and doing spells on her.
“Give it back!” she would yell, but they all ignored her and kept making sparks come out of her wand.
“I hate it here!” yelled Haley which obviously she said out loud because she was shook awake by Ashley.
“What were dreaming about?” asked Ashley leaning over her bed. Haley was panting really hard like she had just run a mile.
“N-Nothing,” said Haley as she stumbled out of bed. “Listen, can we go and talk to Professor McGonagall today about me living with you over the summer? I really don’t want to hold it off any longer.”
“Yeah sure,” said Ashley as she was brushing her hair. “But we might have to do it later tonight.”
“What?” asked Haley in shock, “Why?”
“Well, I sort of want to spend the day with George, I mean it’s his birthday and we just want to be alone today. You know, just the two of us.”
“But you are with him every single day!” yelled Haley.
“Yeah, but we are always with you and Fred,” said Ashley, “We want it to be just the two of us today.”
“Ok fine,” said Haley. This was a chance where she and Fred could spend the day by themselves also.
Haley and Ashley made their way to the Great Hall together where they found Fred and George around a bunch of first years. Haley and Ashley walked over to them.
“And so on April Fools Day,” said Fred, “all of the first years have to run into the Forbidden Forest and find ‘The April Fool Leprechaun’ and whichever one can catch him and bring him back to the castle, gets to sit in Dumbledore’s chair at mealtimes.”
“And they also get to tell all of the Slytherins what to do,” added George.
All of the first years looked terribly frightened.
“That’s a lie,” said a first year boy who didn’t look too confident in what he just said.
“Oh is it?” asked Fred eyeing the boy, “That’s what the first years said last year said and for every single one of them, all of their hair fell off.”
“Yep,” said George, “Took 6 months for them to all get a full head of hair again.”
All of the first years gasped and ran out of the Great Hall.
“You guys are going to get in so much trouble,” said Haley smiling as they took their seats at the table.
“That’s nothing new,” said Fred as he poured himself a bowl of cereal.
“Anyway,” said Haley, “Happy 17th Birthday.”
Haley gave Fred a kiss on the lips and Ashley did the same with George.
“Thanks,” said Fred, “I can’t wait to see all of those first years run into the forest.”
“Yeah,” said George, “they could be in there for days.”
“I don’t think that they are that stupid,” said Ashley.
“Well if they are as stupid as you were in your first year then they will do it,” said Fred, “no offense or anything.”
Ashley gave Fred a look as if she wanted to smack him across the face but she just looked back down at her plate.
“Well George and I are off to Hogsmeade,” said Ashley as her and George stood up. “We’ll see you guys later.”
“So what do you want to do today birthday boy?” asked Haley as she watched Ashley and George walk off.
“I dunno,” said Fred.
“Come on Fred, it’s your birthday, I can’t decide for you,” said Haley.
“You can if I want you too,” said Fred smiling. Haley smiled back.
She couldn’t have asked for a better day. The only thing that she wished Fred didn’t do was prank her every place they went.
“Can we go and talk to McGonagall now?” asked Haley as she ran over to Ashley in the common room that evening.
“Okay, okay, fine,” said Ashley standing up. “We will be back in a little while,” said Ashley to George.
“So how was your day?” asked Haley as they walked out of the common room.
“It was great,” said Ashley, “We really had fun. And he had a lot of fun pulling pranks on me.”
“I can relate to that,” said Haley. Both girls were walking down the hallway when they ran into a most unfortunate surprise.
“What would you two young ladies be doing wandering the corridors this time of evening,” asked Professor Snape as he strode towards them.
“We need to have a word with Professor McGonagall,” said Haley, “So if you would excuse us –
“Surely it can wait until the morning,” said Snape.
“No it can’t,” said Haley impatiently, “So Professor could we please –
“No you cannot,” said Snape as he jumped in front of Haley as she tried to make her way around him.
Haley thought for a moment. This was a time when she wished that Fred and George were around; they could weasel their way out of anything. Haley looked over at Ashley and she was smiling.
“Professor,” said Haley.
“Yes?” asked Professor Snape.
“LOOK! IT’S HARRY POTTER AND HE’S MAKING HIS WAY TO YOUR POTION STORAGE!” yelled Haley.
“What?” asked Snape as he turned around, “Where?”
“Come on!” yelled Haley and she grabbed Ashley arm and the two of them took off. “APRIL FOOLS!” yelled Haley. They were running as fast as they could down the corridor and they quickly turned a corner and they could hear Snape running after them.
“What do we do?” asked Ashley.
“Just keep running!” said Haley.
Haley could not believe what she had just done. She just pulled a Fred and George. She figured after hanging around with them so long some of their so called talent has rubbed off on her. She knew that she was going to get in trouble for what she just did but she didn’t care, it felt good. She actually did something rebellious.
Haley and Ashley sped into Professor McGonagall’s office panting for breath.
“What on earth is going on?” asked Professor McGonagall standing up from her desk.
“We – need – to – talk – to – you.” panted Haley walking over to her desk.
“About what?” asked Professor McGonagall.
“Well,” said Haley finally catching her breath, “I wanted to talk to you about this summer. Instead of living in an orphanage, maybe I could live with Ashley and her mother.”
Professor McGonagall just looked at Haley for a few seconds and then walked back over to her desk.
“Miss Wells, I do not have any power over this,” said Professor McGonagall, “it of course is not up to me to decide but if it was, I would certainly let you stay at Miss Stanford’s house.”
Haley looked at the floor starting to feel really sad.
“But,” said Professor McGonagall, “I will talk to the Headmaster about it and we will inform you about what his final decision is. You’re father didn’t leave a will or anything so all of his money will go to you and all of his possessions. I assume that you will be able to keep his house when you come of age and I’m sure it will be fine if you stay with Miss Stanford over the summer.”
Haley and Ashley both exchanged smiles.
“Oh thank you Professor,” said Haley.
“But I don’t make promises Miss Wells,” said Professor McGonagall.
“I understand,” said Haley as she and Ashley walked out of McGonagall’s office. They had completely forgotten about Snape.
“There you are!” yelled Snape as he ran over to Ashley and Haley. “Detention for both of you for two weeks and 50 points from Gryffindor! How dare you trick a teacher like that!”
“Chill out dude,” said Haley not realizing what she had just said until Ashley looked at her like she was crazy. “Uh I mean…please calm down Professor.”
“Another week of detentions!” yelled Snape, “and you will not address a teacher as ‘dude,’ understand?”
“Yes sir,” said Haley as Snape began to walk away. Haley and Ashley walked into the other direction.
“Chill out dude,” said Ashley, “How could you have said that! How could you even think that! That’s a teacher Haley! You have never shown so much disrespect before.”
“You’re starting to sound like you’re mother,” said Haley already feeling bad enough.
“Sorry,” said Ashley, “but that was pretty brave.”
“I’m sorry I got you detention,” said Haley.
“Ah it’s no problem,” said Ashley, “I don’t care.”
When Haley and Ashley returned to the common room, they saw Fred and George sitting on the sofa waiting for them to return.
“Finally,” said Fred, “What took you so long.”
“Well,” said Haley sitting down next to him, “We ran into Snape.”
Haley and Ashley told them everything that had happened.
“Way to go Haley!” said Fred patting her on the back, “That troublemaker inside of you finally decided to come out.”
Haley smiled.
“Well I’m tired and I think I’m going to go to bed,” said Haley. “Happy Birthday, Fred.”
Haley gave Fred a long kiss on the lips and she thought about how much she loved his kisses. She remembered the first time she kissed him. It was on this exact same sofa.
“I love you,” whispered Haley into Fred’s ear.
“I love you too,” he whispered back. “You are the best birthday present that I could ever ask for.”
Haley smiled at him and kissed him one more time and then made her way up to bed.
