"Where is she?" Yuuki yelled. I was pacing back and forth. And Usagi was bouncing up and down.
"Don’t burn your energy up like that!" I snapped at Usagi. She stopped.
"Why is she so late?!" Usagi cried.
"She was supposed to be here an hour ago." Yuuki cried.
"You were only here half an hour ago!" I yelled at Yuuki. She pouted. The only teacher that can be later than she can. I laughed to myself.

I walkedtowards the field were I was supposed to meet my new students. And my thought started to wander. An all girl squad? How strange is that? Who messed up? I thought. After Minka was so persistent about saying nothing of importance about herself I did a little research. It turns out no one knew anything about her; I had a friend who got me the info I needed. I stared down at her profile.

There’s not much on here. I thought wearily. I disliked liars and it looked as though this Minka girl had plenty of lies behind her. This might be a problem.
“Thanks Kyashii, Not much on there huh?” I said jokingly. Kyashii knew I wanted more information. She grinned.
“Yep, that girl seems to baffle everyone. She showed up here covered in blood when she was about 7. She wasn’t wounded ,just covered in blood. She passed out and somehow she ended up staying here. She’s a mystery.” Kyashii laughed. I smiled at her.
“Oops, I’m late. Gotta go meet my girls.” I said handed the page back to Kyashii.
“Girls?” Kyashii asked.
“Yep.”
“All girls?”
“Yep.”
“Who screwed up?”
“I was thinking that.”
“Bye Haruka.” Kyashii waved as I walked away. I waved back and went to pick a book up from the bookstore.
~Minka~
2 hours? She is 2 hours late. I zoned out and felt my mind slip back to the past. Oooh, this is dangerous. I wonder what Miranda is doing? My thoughts were broken by Usagi and Yuuki.
“Haruka-sensei what took you so long??!!” Usagi screamed. I looked up and could see my sensei had arrived. Yuuki hoped up on a rock she had been sitting on.
“We’ve been here for hours!” She screamed.
“Sorry Girls I had some errands to run.” She said sounding at least a little bit guilty. At least I hope she was.
“Ok, we’re already behind schedule so lets get started.”
“Haruka-sensei you’re the reason we’re behind schedule.” I said, still peeved that a person would show up 2 hours late for an event they set up.
“Yes, well I guess your right. But I had to pick this book up from the store.” Haruka said waving the new book around. Then she put it away, without saying much more. To me it looked as if the spine had already been cracked. She must have already started it.
“Well, Today your going on a scavenger hunt. I’ve hidden 2 crystal shards in this area. You will find these shards and bring them back to me. You will face many obstacles, me being one of them. Since there are only 2 shards, one of you will not find one. Whoever that is goes back to the academy. Have fun!” And with that Haruka-sensei disappeared before anyone could do anything.
“Oh, yeah. You have until this time tomorrow to find the shards.” Her voice echoed from near by. Dangit! Why can’t I pinpoint her location? I know she’s here. I was searching wildly for my new sensei.
“Until tomorrow?” Yuuki asked confused. “Wait! She expects to send one of us back!” Yuuki yelled at the sky.
“How mean! We’re all friends! Fighting against each other is too hard!” Usagi pouted. The three Began to survey the surroundings every second was precious.
“We wont have to fight against each other………I’ll go back.” I said. Being a ninja wasn’t all that important to me, and Yuuki and Usagi couldn’t pass a second time, I would.
“NO WAY MINKA!” Yuuki protested. “We’re not letting you go back!” She sounded determined. Drat, this is just like her.
“There must be a way all 3 of us can pass.” Usagi closed her eyes and her voice got real high, just like it always does when she’s excited.
“What if 2 of us share a crystal?” Yuuki jumped up, pleased with her idea.
“S-Share?” I asked. I tried to figure out how people would share a jewel shard.
“Yeah, we both have at least one finger on it, and hand it to her at the same time? How can she send one of us back then?” Yuuki was getting on to something.
“Good idea. … In the trees, HURRY!” I yelped. I caught movement from the corner of my eye. We had been standing here all this time and Haruka-sensei still hadn’t made a move. What was the point of this exercise? I grabbed Yuuki and Usagi by the wrists and just managed to tug them out of the way of a barrage of knives. We stared at the pummeled ground from where we hid in the trees.
“Whoa, thanks Minka-chan.” Usagi wiped a bit of sweat from her brow.
“How’d you know that was coming?” Yuuki asked stealing some if the knives. I also plucked a few from the ground. You could never have too much ammo.
“Common sense. Look, there’s an easy way to find out where the shards are. But it involves Usagi.” I glanced over at my friend. Her fiery red hair fell unevenly about her shoulders, having slipped loose from her pony tail. She looked nervous. If Haruka-sensei had time to set up that trap she must have been there the whole time we were talking which means she knows that Yuuki found a loop hole ,and that we work as a team. The point of this exercise must be so she can see and test what we’re capable of. She’s gonna be surprised, after all dynamite comes in little packages. I smirked.
“Me?” Usagi fixed her hair a little bit, and had a perplexed look on her face.
“Her?” Yuuki asked just as confused.
“Oh right, you wouldn’t know this yet Yuuki. Since you’ve only been living here for about a year. Usagi, remember that time at the park when we were talking about psychics?”
“Um…yeah.”
“Remember what you found out that day and you turned it in to a technique that you mastered. You even taught me a little bit.” I prodded at her memory more and more, I saw the look of realization slowly creep onto her face.
“Reading hearts!” She gasped. Is that what she named it? Geez, she could have been a little more creative. I nodded, not quite sure if we were thinking of the same thing. At least it sounded like it.
“What is Reading Hearts?” Yuuki shook her head.
“One of Usagi’s unique abilities. It must be something she got in her blood but it sure does come in handy. She doesn’t use it often cuz it makes her body all zombie-ish. She’s kinda worthless when she’s using it.” I explained.
“Hey!” Usagi yelled having obviously taken offense to my last comment.
“What?! It’s true.” I yelled back. She pouted.
“What does it do?” Yuuki asked, being more assertive,
“You’ll see. First we have to find Haruka-sensei.” I grinned thinking how nicely this was going to roll out.
“Here’s the plan.” I said pulling the 2 of them together. Then I lowered my voice to a whisper and told my team mats the plan that was popping into my head. I didn’t want to be overheard by Haruka-sensei who was most certainly around.
“Got it?” I asked when I was done explaining.
“Got it.” Yuuki grinned.
“Got it.” Usagi said a bit quietly, no doubt nervous about using her technique. This is gonna be a piece of cake. For us.
