How you met
When you was around the age of 7 years old, your parents were killed on a mission, leaving you with nobody, you was an outcast within the depths of the Hidden Leaf Village, so you decided you would move away, you packed up what little things you had and headed out through the forest, it was quiet and you was scared, you had never travelled out of the village and you didn't know where you was going. After 3 hours of just walking you became exhausted and hopeless, however you soon came across a whole different village, you walked up to the gates where you were stopped by guards, they noticed your state and took you through to the Kazekage, he examined you and allowed you to live in the village in a small apartment by the academy, you turned 8 in the July, this meant you was to start the academy in the September, you was scared and frightened that you would be once again an outcast. The Academy day came around, you was slowly walking towards the entrance where you saw a lot of children your age standing around, you walked up to the entrance door, people didn't take notice of you. That was until you had the misfortune to bump into Gaara, the red haired monster of the village, you did not fear him however he did everything in his power to try to. You turned around slowly and looked at him.
'Watch where you are going Umeko' he growled, you sighed.
'Look Gaara, you won't scare me' you smirked, he glared at you and suddenly gripped your wrist tight and dragged you around the corner.
'Why are you not scared of me?' he asked, you looked him in the eyes.
'Because Gaara, your just a child like everyone else, nothing special, therefore I don't need to worry' you sighed in reply.
'Well, you should be scared of me' he growled walking off, you walked back into the academy. From that day you and Gaara became enemies and most people feared for your life. However you just carried your life on as normal.
How it happened
You was now 16 years old, Gaara had became Kazekage to your surprise. He had become much calmer after so many years of anger. You were just walking along, bored, when someone touched your shoulder, you turned to see one of Gaara's guards.
'Umeko, The Kazekage wishes to speak with you' the guard said, you nodded and followed him to Gaara's office, you knocked on the door and waited.
'Enter' he replied from the other side, you walked in and took a seat, he looked up at you.
'Ah, Umeko, you came to the village when you was 7 years old, it tells me here the Kazekage of the time allowed you to stay, however only for a 10 year period.' You looked up at this and remembered your 17th birthday was coming up.
'Therefore on your birthday you must pack your things and leave' he replied, you glared and looked down.
'This is my home now, though' you sighed, he looked up at you and nodded.
'You can not come back to the village as a residence for 2 years after you leave' he explained, you stood up and bowed. You walked towards the door, however something was pulling on you, you turned to notice sand, Gaara pulled you onto his lap and looked you in the eyes.
'Umeko, I love you' he suddenly said, you glared in shock, before you knew it you and Gaara were kissing, the more kissing you did the more confidence you both gained, before you knew it you and Gaara were exploring each other inside and out.
How you told him
Now that day had become the most specialist day of your life, however a month later you had to leave the village leaving your beloved behind. You now live in the Hidden Leaf Village, you still are a social outcast but you just accept that, you was walking along one day, it had been 2 months since you and Gaara made love, you couldn't get him off your mind, that was until you started throwing up in a nearby bush, you slowly stood up feeling slightly dizzy, you turned to find a very confused Shikamaru. He looked at you with concern, however before you knew it you had loss consciousness. When you came too, you was laying in a hospital bed, Shikamaru sat next to you. The doctor walked in slowly.
'Congratulations, you two, you our expecting a child' the doctor smiled, you glared in shock.
'No, we are not together' Shikamaru explained, you just glared in horror.
'I am pregnant?' you gasped out finally, the doctor nodded, he then walked out, Shikamaru glared at you.
'Whose is it?' he asked concerned, you looked at him.
'Gaara's' you replied, with a slight smile. Shikamaru looked at you with shock.
'You and the Kazekage had...' Shikamaru said totally surprised, you nodded and slowly got up.
'Well you better tell him why his here visiting the Hokage' Shikamaru said, these words hit you hard and the nerves began to kick in, you nodded and ran towards the centre of the village, not looking where you was going you ran into someone, sending you flying one way and them the other. You looked up slowly and saw Gaara, your heart skipped a beat and a smile came to your face, he stood up and helped you up, you looked at him.
'Gaara' you smiled, he smiled back and kissed your lips.
'Umeko, I have missed you' Gaara said slowly, you looked at him.
'I have missed you too' you said stroking his cheek.
'I must be...' he began but was interrupted by you.
'I need to tell you something' you sighed, he looked at you confused.
'I am pregnant with your child' you just came out with it. He glared for a moment then looked down at your stomach.
'I need to get to my meeting' he replied and walked at a fast pace towards the Hokage's building. You watch him walk away, your heart dropped and you began to cry.
'Hey, Umeko, did you tell him?' Shikamaru asked walking towards you, then noticing the tears, he gripped you in his arms and held you close.
'What did he say?' Shikamaru asked, you looked up at him.
'Nothing' you replied and looked down, Shikamaru sighed.
'What a drag' he replied looking at you.
'What is?' you asked.
'Looks like I will have to look after you' he replied, you smiled slightly and hugged him tighter. Later that day you sat by the stream glaring at it flowing calmly, you were just thinking when someone walked behind you, you turned to see Gaara. You looked at him with sad eyes, he sat next to you.
'So you having my child?' he asked, you nodded slowly.
'I don't want a child, not yet' Gaara sighed, you looked down.
'That is ok I will look after it alone' you replied, he looked at you then got up. He walked off into the distance.
From that day you never saw Gaara again, he was always in your heart. Shikamaru helped with the mood swings and the strange food cravings. However 2 months before the baby was due Shikamaru had to leave for a dangerous mission and did not know when he was to return. That morning, you looked him in the eyes and said...
'Shikamaru, thank you for everything, I will miss you and I love you' you said slowly, he looked back into yours and kissed your lips.
2 months past and you was in labour for 15 hours, they thought the baby was never coming out, however when she did, you was so relieved however at that moment you remembered what you had been told only 2 days ago. Shikamaru was dead. Gaara wasn't interested, you was left alone once again, to fight through the world, this time you had your little girl to protect. You named her Misa [Beautiful Sand], you looked after Misa alone for 7 years, you decided to stay living in the Hidden Leaf Village, for you could not face Gaara. When you child turned 8 years old, you was sent on a dangerous mission which ended your life leaving Misa alone, however you made sure someone else in the village knew who her father was so she could live with him. She travelled to the Hidden Sand Village, where she met the Kazekage who turned out to be her father, he was shocked just as much as her. He couldn't turn his own child down again and was so heartbroken after finding out you was dead, That he took responsiblity for Misa and let her live with him. Temari and Kankuro both loved Misa and she loved them, she soon turned into a happy young teenager and a daddy's girl.

Misa is now a Jounin and is very much the same as she has been through all her teenage years, she loves her father. However she loved you two and some nights would cry herself to sleep wishing you was there, the only person who knew about that however was Kankuro who would comfort her, he promised not to tell Gaara. Her life was near enough perfect and she was happy, she knew her mother was in heaven watching over her. Gaara soon married a new woman in his life, she accepted it at first until after a few months when this new woman became pregnant, Misa became forgotten except by Kankuro who reassured her once her little half brother or sister was born, Misa would be back in their lives.
The End
Not always things have happy endings. In the end she was still only second best =[ and you wasn't even there to protect her!
