Sleeping With Ghosts
Chapter Four:
Captured
The world shook. The walls started crumbling behind her in a rain of rubble and paint. The surface of the earth cracked beneath her feet and send her tumbling to the ground on her hands and knees.
At least that’s what it felt like when Cathy saw blood up all of the once cream walls. She stumbled up on her feet after vomiting on the blood stained carpet and walked in an almost drunk like state into the kitchen.
A silent scream burst forth her lips as she saw the view which beheld her.
The light was flickering on and off and every time the light went on for the shortest time she could see. She could see her mother lying twisted on the floor, blood pouring from her neck on the once kept immaculate tile floor, her father was still sitting at the table leaning backwards, his face horrified, a large gap where half of his neck used to be.
This can’t be happening.
All she could think of was the way she treated them in the morning. Her undisguised disgust for them. Why couldn’t she have been more patient, more kind.
“Oh God.”
She bent over and tried to vomit again but nothing came out except acid.
“The Vampire’s Guild are already here. We have to get out.”
Cathy turned around and faced Gaius who was standing looking at the twisted mess with pity on his face, though Cathy couldn’t understand why. Surely it was he who created this horrific scene?
“You.” Cathy said, her voice so full of venom that even she couldn’t recognise it. “You did this, how could you?” She started to weep. “How could you?!” She screamed into the abandoned house.
Sirens sounded from far away, and she knew they were coming here. They could arrest him, if it were up to her he would be dead.
“Come on.” Gaius took her arm with a strangely pained expression on his face. He dragged her out of the house while she struggled against him, screaming bloody murder, and into an awaiting limo which drove off just as the police and ambulance showed up.
