Make a Wish (A Nick Jonas One Shot)

"Birthday girl!" one of my best friends yelled as I walked into the backyard.
"Joe!" I yelled back as he hugged me.
"Hey! What about me?!" another one of my best friends yelled.
"Sorry. Kevin!" I yelled twice as loud and he laughed as he hugged me.
"Hi Erica," their brother Nick said looking at bit irritated.
"Hi Nick," I said as my mood turned a bit sour.
"It's good for things to be back to normal," Joe said smiling.
"Since when do you see things as normal?" Kevin asked raising an eyebrow and I laughed.
"It's time to sing to the birthday girl!" my mom said and we all walked over to the table where my cake was, "Now tell the camera how old you are."
"Mom," I whined.
"Fine. Just sit down so we can sing to you," she said a hint of laughter in her voice.
"Hurry up I wonna eat cake!" Joe yelled and everyone but Nick broke into laughter.
"Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday dear Erica! Happy Birthday to you!" everyone sang and I smiled brightly.
"Make a wish sweetie," my mom said and I closed and my eyes and thought for a few seconds.
I wish for...Nick
I made my wish and blew out my candles. Everyone clapped and Joe grabbed the first piece of cake before anyone else even had a chance to. I talked to all of my friends and family until my mom said it was time for me to open gifts. I got most of what I wanted. The only thing missing was Nick.
"Hey Erica you wonna take a walk?" Nick whispered in my ear.
"Uh, sure," I said and looked towards Kevin and Joe.
They smiled and Ireturned it.
"So how have you been?" Nick asked as we walked out of the backyard.
"Fine. How about you?" I asked looking at the ground.
"Fine. Have you sung anywhere lately?" he asked shoving his hands into his pockets.
"No. I love singing and everything but I'm not sure if I have the guts to do it," I answered as some of the cool spring air blew my hair out of my face.
"But you're really good."
"What would I sing?" I asked looking back at him.
"How about that song you wrote. What was it called? Make a Wish," he said looking into my eyes and I looked away quickley.
The lyrics for that song I had written out of pure bordom and need of expression. Kevin had done most of the music. Nick had walked into the room while Kevin and I were working on the music for it. It was so mortifying considering the song was about him. He din't know that of course and I planned to keep it that way.
"No. I, ah, lost the sheet with the lyrics on it," I lied.
"Oh. Well you could sing one of our songs if you wanted to," he offered.
"No thanks," I said plainly and he stopped. I stopped to and turned to look at him, "What?"
"I just don't get it," he said looking at me in awe.
"Get what?"
"Youhave this great voice and you won't let anyone hear it."
"So?"
"So. That's all you have to say?"
"Yeah, pretty much."
"Erica you have a great voice. A voice some people would kill for and you won't let anyone hear it," he said taking my hands in his. I heart started pounding in my chest as did so.
"You've heard. Kevin and Joe have heard. My family had heard. Since when is that not letting anyone hear it?" I asked pulling my hands out of Nicks then beginning to walk back home.
"Besides Joe, Kevin, your family, and I. Besides us who has heard you sing?" he asked turning me around and putting his hands on my shoulders.
"Well, ah, there's. There's-wait. Why do you care anywhere?" I asked. I wasn't about to let him win this one.
"Because I love you!" he yelled out of frustration.
He seemed just as shocked as I was once the words were out of his mouth. I opened my mouth to say something but nothing came out. He swallowed and took his hands off of my shoulders.
"Well, now you know. I love you and I know that you don't lov-" I cut him off by kissing him.
He seem shocked at first but then he slid his hands around my waist. I wrapped my arms around his neck and broke my lips from his.
"Does that change what you were about to say?" I asked bitting my lip.
"I could use a little more convincing," he said smiling then pressed his lips back onto mine.
