Chapter 6 : Myteorl
Chapter 6: Live In Lights Of Color_________ Iris faces a choice. Become like Cat or remain as she was and forget her new friends.
The sound of rushing water, the smell of blooming flowers. Iris slowly opened her eyes to see Flash’s kind, concerning face inches from hers. Iris shot up, bumping Flash in the nose.
“Oh... oh no! I-I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean it, honest!” Iris said, bowing apologetically to Flash, whom was clutching his nose.
“No... no. It’s really not that bad, it’s mostly my fault. I guess I spooked you.” Flash recovered, still sounding a little stuffy.
“Where are we? It’s so much more peaceful then rainbow plains.” Iris asked looking around.
There was a waterfall shrouded in a misty rainbow flowing down into a small pool that led to a small stream that flowed into a bunch of trees and out of sight. I the center of this pool was a bird bath with something shining in the center. Iris walked over to the edge of the pool and stared into the water. She looked into the pool for awhile, but saw no reflection. Then, the water began to swirl and instead of Iris’ own reflection, there was a stepping stone rising. Iris jolt up in surprise.
“Just trust in yourself and you’ll do fine.” Flash said, fading away into the waterfall’s mist.
“Wait! What does that mean?” Iris shouted into the empty forest center circle.
“Oh... never mind, I’ll just have to try my best at it.”
She took a step onto the stepping stone, looking forward and focusing on the bird bath and took a few more strides forward until she reached the bird bath. She looked into the bird bath and saw a compact mirror in the center at the bottom. Iris reached into the water confidently and grasped the mirror. With a blinding flash, everything went black. Then, through the darkness, a small ball of light appeared. Iris was puzzled as she began looking around the darkened void she had been cast into.
“Where the heck am I? What is going on?” Iris asked out loud, even though she knew no answer would come.
a wise, male voice reverberated throughout the void.
“What? Ev-everything?” Iris stuttered weakly.
‘Forget about everything... everyone? Cat...Waldo...’ Iris thought carefully, biting her bottom lip with soft anger.
The voice boomed again.
“I-I’ll go forward... I don’t want to forget my new friends...” Iris said, her mouth was dry, but her voice was strong.
The voice faded and the light grew larger and brighter.
“Uh... the light. It’s growing?” Iris said, staring in amazement at the light.
The voice of Flash echoed in the void.
Iris gulped and walked forward, in to the mysterious light. She was blinded once more by a light. She was warm and felt herself being lifted by someone or something. Iris felt herself being gently laid down onto soft grass, she started to blink. The blurry form of a man, no... it was Flash! Iris’ vision was returned and she stared into Flash’s kind, peaceful, color changing eyes.
“I see your awake. How do you feel?” He asked Iris softly.
“I-I think I’ll be alright. What just happened?” Iris asked, sitting up.
“You fell into the pond and I helped you out of the pond. It may be warm in these mountains, but it’s still not good to appear wet in front of the Immortal Council.” Flash said with his heart warming smile.
“The Immortal Council?” Iris asked.
“You’ll see, in the meantime... why don’t you return me my original form?” Flash asked, staring at Iris’ left hand.
Iris then felt something warm and hard in her left hand and looked down at it. In her hand was the pink compact mirror that was in the bird fountain. Iris noticed, as she held it up to the light, that a holographic rainbow with a fading stripe on the right. She saw a black and white opening clip on the left. Iris clicked it open and a bright and colorful light flashed out and shined on Flash. Flash grew smaller as he was absorbed by the light. Flash now looked like the holographic rainbow on her mirror.
Flash’s voice echoed as Buddy’s does.
“Um... pretty cool, I guess.”
Iris crawled over to the pond and looked in. A fading section of hair fell into the water. Iris didn’t have this strand before, it was longer and straighter then her medium, wavy hair. She saw her reflection this time in the pond. She stood up quickly and looked down at her outfit. She wore a vertical striped rainbow tank top, her stomach showing. She still wore her fading belt, but over a vertical striped rainbow mini skirt over horizontal striped rainbow jeans. Lastly, she wore magenta colored sandals on her once bare feet (she had shoes, but only wore them in public buildings).
“What? Flash, what... how...?” Iris was bewildered as to how she received this new outfit.
Flash explained calmly.
“Oh...” Iris simply said, not bothering to ask what.
Flash said, floating through the trees, Iris jogging not to far behind.
