Haley Wells 2 (Fred Weasley Love Story) ch 1

Weeks passed and the ball was approaching and so was Christmas. Fred still hadn’t asked Haley to the ball and Haley still hadn’t told him that she was going with Mike.

“Maybe, he wasn’t going to ask me anyway,” said Haley on Christmas Eve morning.

“Who are you kidding?” asked Ashley as she took a bite of toast, “of course he’s going to ask you. He’s just nervous that’s all.”

“Well he’d better plan on doing it soon,” said Haley, “I just need to tell him that I can’t go with him.”

“Well here’s your chance,” said Ashley looking over at the entrance to the Great Hall. Haley looked over and she saw Fred and George making their way over to come and sit by them.

“Morning,” said George as he gave Ashley a kiss on the forehead.

“Morning,” said Ashley in return.

Fred didn’t say anything. He looked as if something was bothering him.

“Umm, Haley,” said Fred, “can I talk to you for a moment…privately?”

This was it, Haley knew that Fred was about to ask her to the ball. She felt more nervous than ever. Haley stood up with Fred and the both made their way into the hallway where no one was around.

“Haley,” said Fred, “I need to talk to you.”

“Okay,” replied Haley.

“I’m going to the ball with Angelina,” said Fred.

“What!?!” yelled Haley not being able to control the volume of her voice. “Angelina! You’re ex-girlfriend! How could you ask her?”

“Oh I dunno,” said Fred sarcastically, “Maybe because my other ex-girlfriend is going to the ball with someone else!”

Haley looked up at Fred. How did he know about it?

“Umm, h-how did you k-know…about that?” asked Haley quietly.

“George told me,” said Fred, “He told me that if I was planning to ask you then I would be wasting my time, which obviously is true.”

“I’m sorry Fred,” said Haley looking down at the floor, “I wanted to go with you, really I did but, Mike asked me and I mean, I sort of want to get to know him more. You know what I mean?”

“Yeah,” said Fred as he started to walk off but Haley grabbed his arm and stopped him.

“And, Fred I just want you to know that if things don’t go well at the ball then, well would it be cool if I hang with you?”

“Sure,” said Fred with a small smile, “but, only if things don’t go well with Mike and Angelina.”

“Okay,” said Haley, “Great. And by the way, when did you ask Angelina to the ball? I’m just wondering.”

“Only a few days ago,” said Fred, “I asked her in the common room one night when I asked Harry and Ron who they were going with.”

“Who are they going with?” asked Haley.

“Nobody as far as I know,” said Fred smiling.

Haley smiled back and they both made their way back to the Great Hall.

It was finally Christmas Eve night and Haley was sitting by herself in the Gryffindor common room. As far as she knew, everyone was asleep. She looked out the window and saw the Hogwarts’ grounds covered in snow. It was beautiful. Haley sat down on one of the sofas in the dark common room and looked into the blazing fire. She closed her eyes for a few moments and then she heard someone coming down the stairs. She looked over at the stairs and she saw a red-headed boy walking over to her.

“Shouldn’t you be asleep?” asked the voice of Fred.

“I should say the same thing back to you,” said Haley.

“I couldn’t sleep,” said Fred sitting down next to her.

“Neither could I,” said Haley, “Too busy worried about tomorrow night.”

“Why are you worried?” asked Fred.

“Well I mean, the first date didn’t go so well with Mike,” said Haley, “I just hope it goes well this time. I mean what if it doesn’t? I’m stuck with someone completely annoying. I mean, if I went with you, then I know that I would have a good time.”

“Really?” asked Fred.

“Of course,” said Haley, “You’re my best friend and I lo – Haley stopped short thinking about what she was about to say. I do love Fred, she thought. I will just tell him how I really feel.

“I love you,” said Haley quietly.

“I love you too Haley,” said Fred, “I know I have told you that a million times but every time I say it, it just makes me love you even more.”

Haley felt a tear slide down her face. She turned away from Fred hoping that he wouldn’t see it.

“You don’t have to hide anything from me,” said Fred wrapping his arm around her, “You’re my best friend too and you can tell me anything.”

Haley looked back at Fred and she could barely see his face in the darkness of the common room. The only way she could tell that it was Fred was because of the small amount of light that the fire was giving off. Haley moved closer to Fred, so close that she could kiss him if she wanted to. She wrapped both of her arms around him into a great big hug and she was crying silently into his chest.

“Haley I think that you should get some sleep,” said Fred. “We have a big day tomorrow.”

“Yeah,” said Haley, “You’d better get some sleep too.”

Fred stood up and he began walking over to his dormitory when Haley stopped him.

“Fred,” started Haley.

“Yeah?” he asked.

“You know I thought that we would be together for a long time. Like Ashley and George. I really miss those days when we were together.”

“Me too,” said Fred, “maybe one day we can be back together.”

“I hope that day comes soon,” said Haley.

“Yeah,” said Fred as he returned to the staircase, “Me too.”

It was finally Christmas morning, Haley was so tired that she didn’t feel like waking up but Ashley made her.

“Come on lazy!” yelled Ashley jumping up and down on Haley’s bed “Presents!”

“I’m coming,” said Haley with a great big yawn. Haley and Ashley both ran down to the common room in their pajamas. They found Fred, George, Harry, Ron, Hermione and Ginny all down their in the common room.

“Merry Christmas!” yelled Ashley as she ran over to see her big pile of presents.

Haley walked over slowly and looked at Fred. She remembered their conversation they had last night and they told each other that they loved each other. It was kind of awkward being around Fred but she couldn’t figure out why.

“Merry Christmas,” said Fred giving Haley a hug.

“Yeah,” said Haley, “Merry Christmas to you too.”

Haley was very pleased with all of her presents. Fred didn’t get her anything special this year and she didn’t expect him too. She didn’t get him anything very expensive either. Ashley got her a cute sweatshirt and Fred and George had combined their gifts and got Haley a box of sweets from Honeydukes which included Haley’s favorites: Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans, Chocolate Frogs, Drooble’s Best Blowing Gum, Fizzing Whizbees, Pumpkin Pastilles and Cauldron Cakes. Fred and George had also gotten her a box of their latest creation, Canary Creams. Mrs. Weasley had gotten her a Weasley sweater that was green with a golden H on the front.

Haley, Ashley, Fred and George all went down to breakfast together. They spent most of their day in Gryffindor tower though where everyone was enjoying their presents.

After lunch they all went out on the grounds to see the magnificent snowfall. The snow had to be at least 8 inches deep. Fred and George were bewitching snowballs and making them hit Haley and Ashley in the head. They thought that it was hilarious but Haley and Ashley had their own idea of revenge.

“Okay!” yelled Ashley as one of George’s snowballs hit her on the side of her head, “Two can play at this game!”

“Two are playing at this game!” yelled Fred right back at her.

“I mean four can play at this game,” said Ashley as she and Haley pulled out their wands and began to bewitch their own snowballs that pelted themselves at Fred and George. Harry and Ron came over and they decided that they wanted to join in too. Hermione of course decided to watch but she left at 5:00 to get ready for the ball.

“I don’t see why she needs all that time to get ready,” said Ron.

“She’s a girl,” said Harry in respond as he threw a snowball at Fred’s head.

“Yeah,” said Ron, “but so are Haley and Ashley and they aren’t going in to get ready.”

“What about Haley and Ashley being girls?” asked Haley as she walked over to Harry and Ron.

“Nothing,” said Ron, “We were just talking about Hermione. Do you two know who she’s going with?”

Haley and Ashley exchanged glances at each other and giggled.

“Sure do,” said Ashley.

“Who?” asked Harry and Ron together.

“Sorry boys,” said Haley, “We can’t tell you.”

“Can’t tell them what?” asked George as he ran over to them to see what they were talking about.

“Nothing,” said Ashley as she walked over and grabbed George’s hand.

At 7:00, Harry, Ron, Haley, Ashley, Fred and George all decided to put an end to the snowball fight and head back to the castle for the Christmas feast before the ball. Haley and Ashley ate quickly so they would have plenty of time to get ready and they ran back up to the common room. As they were running out of the Great Hall, Haley heard Harry, Ron, Fred and George all mumble together ‘women’.

Haley and Ashley had bought the prettiest dresses before school started. Haley had a strapless emerald green dress that came down to her knees and Ashley had a silky orange dress that was also strapless and hers came all the way down to the floor. Haley thought that they both looked gorgeous.

“Well I’d better go and meet George,” said Ashley walking out of the dormitory. Haley followed her into the common room and there was George waiting for her.

“Where’s Fred?” asked Haley.

“He’s already gone downstairs with Angelina,” said George.

“Oh,” said Haley as she followed George and Ashley out of the common room.

The entrance hall was packed with students waiting for it to be 8:00 when the Great Hall’s doors would open. Haley saw Fred and Angelina together laughing. Haley’s whole body was filled with jealousy wishing that it was her with Fred and not Angelina.

“Haley,” said a voice behind her. She turned around and she saw Mike. He looked extremely handsome in his dress robes.

“Hey,” said Haley smiling at him and taking hold of his arm.

“You look beautiful,” he said.

“Thanks,” said Haley as she looked back over at Fred. She saw that he was looking at her and she quickly looked away. Haley looked over at the doors of the Great Hall. They would open in about 5 minutes and Haley was hoping for a great night. She had no idea that this night would change her life forever.
