Sweet Sacrifice .:Edward Cullen:. 1

Uhmm... I basically just decided to write this to surprise my friends. I'm not a huge fan of Edward. Or of the Twilight series, for that matter. But let's just see how this goes. ^-^ And I KNOW most of you probably enjoy the whole Edward/Bella thing, but... Bella can't be in this. For the reason that it's a FAN FICTION. Oh, and the title of the story... I just picked the first Evanescence song I saw. :D

Moving back to Forks was like seeing an old friend after a long time. Six months before, my family and I had moved to Ohio to follow my father's job. But now that he had quit, there was no reason to stay. In my absence from Forks, the schools had their summer vacation, and I turned seventeen. I was excited to go back to Forks High School and start the eleventh grade, and see all of the friends I had missed. I longed to see the coniferous forests that I spent all of my free time in, to breathe the pure, piney air.

The car pulled up in the gravel driveway, making the ever-familiar crunching sound I was so used to. Without hesitation, I grabbed my bag from between my brother and me and jumped out of the car. Immediately I was hit by the biting air and I inhaled deeply. My mother got out from the paasenger seat, stretching.

"We're back home..." she sighed happily, not to anyone in particular. She then left, holding her small dufflebag, to go help my father unload the Uhaul attached to the back of our car. I walked around the car to my younger brother, who seemed too tired to function. His eyes were half closed, his hair unkempt, and he leaned against the car for support. I couldnt blame him; he was nine years old and we had all gotten up at 4:30 that morning. I skipped up to his side and ruffled his ditry blond hair.

"C'mon, perk up a bit. We're back home, at our old house!" I said. He looked up, wrinkled his nose, and then shifted his mouth into a kiddish smile.

"That's mah boy! Now let's help mom and dad get all of our stuff inside the house. It'll give us more time to have fun... Or, in your case, sleep."

I heaved down the last box inside my room and wiped the sweat from my brow. The walls were still the same dark blue they had been when we left, and there was still the unattractive stain on the carpet from when I spilled grape juice and never bothered to clean it out. The bed was still there, but it was moved to the other side of the room, the sheets stripped from it.

There's a lot of work to be done... I thought. I opened up one of the five or so medium-sized boxes and pulled out the first thing my hand found. I ended up pulling out a desk lamp, and remembering that we weren't moving my desk in just yet, I put it back. Opening up another box, I found my usual bed sheets. I put the blue sheets on my bed, and the pillowcase on my favorite pillow.

Things went on like that for about two and a half hours. When I was finished, I had used all but one box, which was the one with the lamp in it (it was mainly just filled with things for my desk). My room looked almost exactly as it had before we moved; blue bed covers, blue rug, blue bean bag chair, and posters covering almost every inch of my wall.I left my room to see my brother walking out of his, looking much better than he had before.

"You got your room all set up?" he asked. I nodded and smile.

"How 'bout you?" I replied.

"Eh.. Uhmm... No. I've been sleeping. I'll do that later." I laughed and began walking down the stairs to the first floor.

"If you need any help with that, just ask me!" I called up to him. I walked into the kitchen to see my mother sitting at the table (she and my father had already brought in most of the furniture) with a glass of wine.

"Mom, it's three o'clock and you're drinking wine?" I said jokingly. She looked up and smiled.

"Katie, hi. You're done with your room?" she asked.

"Yeah, mostly. I just got a box of things for my desk. When're we gonna bring that in?"

"Later today or tomorrow... Your father and I are a little tired..."

"I'd imagine... What're you reading?" I said, indicating to the paper in layed out in front of her. She picked it up and moved it closer for me to see.

"Just the Forks Gazette. I want to catch up on what's going on here." She took a sip from her wine and continued. "Says they closed down that old bakery I always took you to."

"Oh, son of a biscuit! I loved that place." I had to come up with different words to say instead of swear words around my parents, and it always seemed to end up being a food. My mother nodded and flattened out a crease in the newspaper.

"Your school's basketball team came in second in the state championship before the end of the school year. I guess that was a big deal if they're still talking about it now." I rolled my eyes.

"Kinda. We never win anything." A silence fell, in which my mother just kept scanning her eyes across the paper.

"Hey Mom," I started. "When am I starting school again?

"Your father said about a week after the school year starts. It gives us time to settle in. You know how terrible it was when you started school in Ohio the second day we got there."

"Ugh, yeah, that was hectic. I was so tired during school..."

"You think you'll meet any cute boys this year?" my mom asked, suddenly changing the topic. I laughed to hide the blush that was starting to cover my cheeks. She always mocked me about how boy-crazy I was sometimes.

"I don't think so. Forks doesn't have that many decent guys."

Okay, so, that was part one. It was kinda short, and very uneventful. But it was only part one- I was basically just introducing you to the plot. >_<

So, rate and message please! Feedback always makes me get parts out sooner. =]
