Shanon sighed and turned off the computer monitor. She had just finished checking her emails, and finding out, again, that she had lost every contest she had entered.
Entering those stupid little contests had become an addiction for her. She entered anything that saidmeet so and so or win a trip to see so and so just on the off chance that she'd win.
Not like she actually had. She had started this well over a year ago and had yet to actually win anything. And, from what she had just finished not reading in her emails, she had lost again.
She grabbed her sidekick from off the bedside table and called her friend, Lauren.
"Lauren!" she whined when she heard the phone pick up on the other end. "I lost again!"
"Aw, Shanon, it's OK. You'll win next time," Lauren soothed. She sounded a bit preoccupied. Or excited. Shanon couldn't tell which.
"That's what you say everytime!"
"Well...yeah. But you're bound to win sometime. Hey, have you checked your phone lately?"
Shanon was confused.
"Well, yeah Lore. I'm talking to you on it right now."
"No! Your home phone. The one that you don't carry with you everywhere...?"Lauren said with agitation.
"Oh, no. Should I?"
"YES!" Lauren exclaimed. She obviously knew something that Shanon didn't know.
"OK. One sec..." Shanon picked up the cordless phone and checked it.
One missed call, flashed on the screen.
"OK, Lore, I have a missed call. Who is it?" Shanon asked.
"Call them back. Then call me back. Or better yet...call them back, and then answer your door. I'm on my way." Lauren hung up on her.
Shanon put her sidekick down and looked at the cordless in her hand. She didn't recognize the number...
ring...
...ring
ring...
...ring
She was just about to give up when some one (finally!) picked up.
"Hello?" the voice said.
"Uh...hi. This is...Shanon...? You called earlier...?" She was unsure of what to say. The voice sounded familiar, but she didn't know who it was.
"Oh, hi!" the voice exclaimed. "I'm so glad you called back!"
"OK...?" Shanon was confused. Again.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I haven't explained myself properly..."
"It's alright," she laughed. "I've been kind of slow today."
The voice laughed too. "I was calling to let you know that you won our contest!"
"Contest?" Shanon tried to think of which one this could be, but for the life of her, she couldn't remember.
"Yep. You get to spend one whole day with Panic At The Disco," the voice informed her.
"Really?!"
"Really."
"Wait..." Shanon suddenly grew suspicious. "Who is this?" The voice sounded way too familiar. It was probably just a friend playing a joke.
"Brendon Urie."
She almost dropped the phone.
"...you still there?" he asked.
She couldn't speak.
"Well, we have your address, so we'll be out tomorrow, OK?" he said.
She opened her mouth but words wouldn't come out.
"See you tomorrow then."And he hung up.
She fell down on the couch and just sat there for a moment. She had finally done it. She had won. She didn't know what to think.
"SHANON!" Lore yelled running and jumping onto the couch beside her best friend. "Isn't this just wonderful?! You, me, and Panic At The fucking Disco! For one whole day!!"
She was noticably excited.
"Shanon?"Lore looked at her friend.
Shanon continued to sit quietly.
"See, the reason I knew you won was because I checked your email for you earlier today while you were at work. It said you were going to get a call, so I deleted the email for you. Aren't you excited?"
Shanon was still quiet.
"Shanon?" Lore asked again.
Suddenly Shanon was bouncing up and down, smiling, laughing, and singing "I won the contest, I won the contest!"
The two friends spent the rest of the day talking about what they would do the next day. That night, Lore left, but not before extracting a promise from Shanon to call her the moment that they boys arrived. Shanon promised and then headed off to her room to pretend to go to sleep for a few hours before the big day arrived.

The next morning, Shanon woke up early. She had been to excited to really go to sleep anyway. So, she got up, took a shower, and got dressed. Then, she called Lore.
"Lore, wake up," she said loudly into the phone.
"But...I'm still sleepy," Lore complained.
"But Panic At The Disco is coming over today," Shanon reminded her.
"I'm up." And Lore hung up.
Five minutes later, hair still wet, Lore was standing outside her apartment door, knocking, and saying, loudly, "LET ME IN."
Shanon laughed and let her in. The sat down in the living room, turned on the TV and began talking about what they were going to do and say when the boys actually got to the apartment.
"I'm gonna hit on Ryan," Lore announced proudly.
"Oh really?" Shanon giggled.
"Yes. And I'm going to make it my personal goal to kiss him before the day is out." Lore was completely serious.
"I'll be watching." Shanon laughed some more.
"What's so funny? You're going after Brendon," Lore informed her.
"What? No..." Shanon said, but she blushed.
See, that was what she was going to do. Ever since she had first heard his voice a few years back, Shanon and wanted Brendon Urie. Something about him just drove her crazy. She had to have him. But...she had never told anyone this. It was too personal. She knew that Lore was just playing, but still...it wasa little too close to the truth.
"Yes you are, see-"
But before Lore could finish, there was a knock at the door.
"Oh my god!" Lore exclaimed. "They're here!"
Shanon jumped up from the couch and ran to the door, pausing at a mirror to check her hair and make up before opening the door.
There, in her doorway, stood Brendon Urie and Spencer Smith. Jon Walker and Ryan Ross were walking around behind them.
"Hi," Brendon said with a huge smile. "I'm Brendon and this," he waved at Spencer, "is Spencer."
"Hi." Shanon said breathlessly. "I'm Shanon and this is Lore-I mean Lauren." Lore rested her chin on Shanon's shoulder and smiled at them.
"Are you ready to go?" Spencer asked.
"Yeah, let me grab my purse," Shanon replied. She and Lore grabbed their bags and out they went.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The day had passed quickly. Too quickly. First the boys had taken Shanon and Lore to the mall, then the movies, and finally to a perfect dinner. Shanon had had a chance to spend a little time alone with all four of the boys, and she was too happy.
But now it was getting dark. The day was almost over.
Shanon sat with Brendon in a park she had asked they go to. Jon and Spencer were...somewhere. Ryan sat with Lore on the otherside of the park, the two of them enjoying a personal make out session. It seemed that Lore hadn't been kidding after all.
And Shanon sat with Brendon. Alone with Brendon. One of her dreams come true. The two sat quietly, because they had nothing to say. It would have been awkward, if they didn't feel like they knew each other so well. As it was, it was just a peaceful kind of quiet.
Inside her head, Shanon was telling herself to make a move. To be brave. Like Lore. She wanted Brendon. Just go for it. But, on the other hand, she was too scared to. She didn't know how he'd react. Sure they'd had a great day together. Sure they'd gotten to know each other very well. She was still scared.
They sat quietly.
And then, Brendon edged his hand over and put it on hers. She looked at him. He smiled hopefully at her as if to say "is this alright?". She scooted closer to him on the bench. He put his arm around her waist. She leaned against him.
He said, "Shanon, I really like you."
She said, "I really like you too Brendon."
He kissed her. He gave her one of those sweet, perfect kisses that you can only read about.
She smiled. He smiled.
This had been one perfect day.
