Another week had passed and you were still stuck in Edward's house. Everyone was glad you kept Emmett occupied, but it was like looking after a three year old with ADHD- in short, it was a pain in the ass. You were laying on the sofa infront of the television as Emmett begged you to play another round on the Wii with him. "No Emmett I'm too tired." you whined and you laid down and pressed one of the sofa pillows down on your head. "Come on." he drawled. "You humans are so boring, especially when you get tired. It's the worst." he complained. "Oh yeah, what a serious drag it must be for you to hangout with a human." you say and your voice was muffled by the pillow. "Oh Lorraine." Alice giggled as she walked into the room. "I'll play with you Emmett." she said. "Fine, but no cheating." Emmett warned. "Edward come play with us. We're playing baseball!" Alice called and Edward walked into the room. "I think I'll pass." he said as he looked at the Wii. "One more round Lorraine? Pleeeease?" Emmett begged again. "No!" you whined. "Leave her alone." Edward sighed, annoyed. "Come on Edward! If I win, you owe me a yellow Porsche." she said. "I'll buy you one for Christmas." Edward said. "I dont know that I want to wait for Christmas..." she mumbled. You threw the pillow off your head and limped slightly out of the living room and Edward silently followed. "Where are you going?" he asked. "Somewhere Emmett wont find me." you say and he laughed. "You wont be so hard for him to find." he said. "Yeah, unfortunatly." you say and he picked you up and ran you up to his room. He gently set you down and you went over to your Louis Vuitton duffle bag that was packed with stuff for you to stay over and you pulled out your laptop and turned it on. You sat down on his couch and tapped the keys impatiently as it started up. You kept tapping it until you felt Edward's hands quickly grab yours and stop your tapping. "A little impatient today?" he whispered in your ear and you scowled at the computer screen and looked up at him, but his face was closer than you thought. "U-uh..." you say and he grinned and pressed his icy lips against yours. He slowly sat down next to you and pushed the laptop off your lap and wrapped one arm around your waist and he twisted his other hand in your hair. You felt your mind being blown and you traced your tounge along his lower lip and it made your head spin uncontrollably and your heart beat sped up. He slowly pulled away and you held back a groan of protest. "Oh Lorraine." he sighed. "I'd say I'm sorry, but I'm not." you say. "And I should feel sorry that you're not sorry, but I dont." he said as he pulled his hand from your hair and you were too confused to figure out what that meant. "Oh-kay." you say in a dazed tone and he smiled crookedly. "Maybe I should get home." you say, still dazed, and you closed the laptop, not ever bothering to check your emails. Edward looked at you and frowned. "I dont want you to go." he said. "I have to, my dad will be home tonight." you say and he sighed. "But what if something goes wrong?" he asked and he eyed your stitched-upstomach that was covered by your Hollister tank top. "Nothing will go wrong." you say, rolling your eyes. "The odds are stacked against us." he reminded and you let out an exaggerated sigh. "I'll-be-fine!" you say and you got up and grabbed your bag and started stuffing your clothes inside. When you got everything inside, you went to the door and Edward followed, not wanting to let you leave. You walk down the stairs and to the front door and out to Edward's Volvo. You tossed your bag in the back and got in the front seat and he got in and started the car and drove you home slowly. "Come on Edward, seriously." you groaned as you looked at the speedometer. "We like having you over." he said. "Yeah, but I cant always be there." you say. "I'm sure Emmett would like to think otherwise." he said and you rolled your eyes. "I'm not his babysitter. He's older than me- that's just not right." you say. "You're not babysitting him. He just gets bored easily because none of us except you will keep him occupied with those rediculous games he likes. That's why Rosalie is glad to have you over- it keeps him from begging her to play them with him." he said. "Gee, is that all I'm good for?" you retort quietly. "Of course not. You know we all love you." he said and you sighed. He pulled up to your driveway and the black gates automatically opened and he pulled the car in andstopped infront of your house."I'll be over later." he said and you looked at him and his eyes were black. He hadnt left you at all this week, so he hadnt gone hunting. Everyone tried reasoning with him that they'd look after you so he could go hunt, but he didnt want to let you out of his sight in the sick state you were in. "Okay." you say and he kissed you quickly and you got out and went inside. You saw you had a message on your machine and you pressed play and walked into the kitchen for some raspberries and Vitamin Water, since Edward's family kept forgetting to feed you. "Hey Lorraine, it's Jake." the message started and your jaw dropped. After all he said, he honestly had the nerve to call? "I just wanted to say that...I'm really sorry. I didnt mean any of it. I really miss you coming down to the beach and stuff. So, come down to La Push sometime, if you'll still forgive me." he said and then the machine beeped and the message ended. You did miss the guys, and it wasnt fair that Edward kept you out after all they did for you. You quickly ate and you ran upstairs to take a quick shower and change your bandages and you put on a white tank top that said Dior on it in black letters and some skinny Victoria Beckham jeans and you put your knee high black Chanel boots on and pulled your straight hair up in a messy bun and ran downstairs. You quickly grabbed your car keys and ran outside. No sign of Edward's Volvo, and if he was here, he would have made sure you noticed. You quickly ran to your car, constantly looking over your shoulder, and got in and started the car. You stared at teh keys strangely when the engine wouldnt start and thenlooked in your rearview mirror and screamed. "Edward! Dont do that!" you say angrily and he was leaning back in the back seat and he held his tiny silver cellphone infront of him and stared at it. "Alice called." he murmured. He must have been having her keep tabs on you while he was gone. "She got nervous when your future disappeared ratehr abruptly fave minutes ago." he said and you looked at him confused. "Because she cant see the wolves, you know. Had you forgotten that? When you decide to mingle your fate with theirs, you disappear too. You couldnt know that part, I realize that. But can you understand why that might make me a little...anxious? Alice saw you disappear, and she couldnt even tell if you'd come home or not. Your future got lost, just like theirs." he said and you turned back around and glared and took the keys out. "I'll put your car back together in time for school, in case you'd like to drive yourself." he said quietly. "You did this to my car?" you asked a little hysterically. You growled and grabbed the keys and got out of the car and slammed the door shut and stalked off to your front door. "Shut your balcony doors if you want me to stay away tonight. I'll understand." he said and there was a hint of sadness in his voice. You sighed angrily and stopped before you opened the door and you turned around to look at him, but he was gone. You felt an eerie chill run down your spin when he disappeared, but you knew he was hiding somewhere in the trees, watching you. You rolled your eyes slightly and walked into the house. You'll clearly never understand. you thought and you tossed the keys aside and went up to your room and grabbed your cellphone. If you couldnt go see Jacob, you were just going to have to call him. Edward couldnt stop you fron calling him- wait. Yes he could. He'd rip the house phone cords out of the wall and then either hack into your cellphone account and have it disconnected, or find someway to break it and make it look like an accident, so that it was unsuable. You quickly dialed Jake's house phone and your breath stopped short when you heard him answer the phone. "Hello?" he said dully. "Jake?" you say. "Lorraine?" he asked, his husky voice instantly perking up. "Yeah. Hi." you say. "Man Lorraine, I'm really sorry. I didnt mean it, it's my temper. You of all people would understand tempers." he said, trying to make a joek out of it. "Ha ha." you say sarcastically and he laughed. "But seriously, I'm really sorry. You havent been down here in a while and we're wondering when you'll come back." he said. "Well, I just had my appendix out. And I've been staying at the...well, their house until I got better." you say. "But you're okay now, right?" he asked. "Yeah." you say. "So then come over!" he said. "I-I cant.." you say. "Why not?" he asked, his voice suddenly turned sad. "Do I really need to explain?" you sighed. "No. You dont." he growled. "I'm sorry Jake. I really am. I keep trying to reason with him but he wont even try to work this out. I'm still trying to get down there though. So do think I'm not even bothering." you say. "Alright. I guess knowing that you're trying is enough. For now." he said. For now? you thought. "Well I gotta go. I'll talk to you later." Jake said. "Kay. Bye Jake." you say and you heard the otehr end go dead. You pressed the end button on your EnV and tossed the phone onto your bed and walked to the center of your large room. You stared at the balcony doors and sighed and rolled your eyes. I suppose I cant be mad at him forever. Even if I do keep the doors shut, he'll just sit outside and watch me from a tree branch. you thought. It was what he did at night before you two had gotten together, and he'd do it again. You walked over to the balcony doors and you gripped the doorhandle and paused for a moment, before opening them and the moment they were opened all the way, Edward instantly appeared in the doorway, just inches from your face. You screamed and fell backwards and groaned angrily and covered your face with your hands. "Are you alright?" he asked. "Just....grrr!" you say and you sat up and glared at him. "I take it you dont want me to stay anymore tonight?" he asked quietly and you sighed angrily. "No, Edward I do. It's just..." you trailed off. "The wolves?" he asked, but he already knew that was it. "Yes the wolves!" you growled loudly through your teeth. "Lorraine, you know why I dont like you going down there. To me, letting you go down and be around them, would be like me going to the Volturi. Would you really like that?" he asked. "As long as you werent asking for death or thinking of joining them, I'd have no problem." you retort and you crossed your arms and he rolled his eyes. "As stubborn as ever." he muttered under his breath and he sat down beside you. "Lorraine, can you please just see this from my point of view? Just try?" he asked and his golden eyes were pleading. "I...I cant. It's hard. I dont see them the way you do." you say. "How did you feel when you found out I was going to the Volturi and asking for death?" he asked quietly. "What does that have to do with anything?" you ask. "Just answer me, please?" he asked, growing impatient and you sighed loudly. "I was scared that you would die and I didnt want you to." you say quickly and with little emotion. "And that's exactly how I feel about you going down there. Only, I think I show more emotion about it." he said and he grinned at how lifeless you acted when you made your last statement. "I dont want to argue about this anymore. You still need to rest." he said and he pulled you up. "I'm fine." you say. "No." he said and he stood behind you and grabbed your shoulders and walked you to the bathroom. "Take the antibiotics." he ordered. "But-" you started and he raised an eyegrow and grinned and gave you a silencing look. "Yes dad." you say in a deep mocking voice and you grabbed the pills and took them. "Good girl." he said and you smiled and rolled your eyes and you shut the bathroom door and put your pajamas on and you climbed onto your bed and he was slouching against the wall at the head of the bed and he pulled you into his lap and you rested the back of your head against his cold chest and pulled the comforter up past your stomach and he wrapped one arm around your waist and stroked your head with his other hand. You grabbed his hand around your waist and knitted your fingers together with his and looked at his pale hand. "If I was on the brink of dying, would you turn me into a vampire to save me?" you ask. "What kind of rediculous question is that?" he snorted. "Just a question." you say simply and he was silent. "I would." he answered quietly. "I wouldnt like it, because I dont want to damn your soul, but I wouldnt want to see you die infront of me, and I dont want to even try to live my life without you." he said and he stroked your head feverishly. "Good enough." you say and you snuggled closer into his chest and he smiled crookedly and you closed your eyes and he kissed your head and watched you slowly fall asleep.
