Pink and blue... that makes two
-Marluxia- -10- -Rejection?-
What seemed like hours was in reality only minutes. You were resting in Marluxia's strong arms while the sounds of battle began dying down around you. In truth, you barely noticed it all that much as you felt yourself drifting in and out of consciousness.
Still, being in Marluxia's arms did nothing to stop the fear of death from creeping into your mind. A loud yell made you snap back to reality immediately. At first, you feared another enemy attack. Opening your eyes slowly, and after letting them adjust to the brightness, you were shocked to see Sora emerging from above a hill, his keyblade in hand.
Everyone's attention quickly was on the brown-haired boy. Although slumped over, he managed to raise his keyblade over his head. "Here... is to the start of our life!" he yelled. You hadn't noticed, or dared to look around. But after allowing yourself to do so, you were pleased to see not a single black speck among your friends.
And as if a miracle, a mop of red hair emerged from behind Sora. "Jesus! Axel!" you yelled with happiness unknown to you. "AXY!" Roxas and Demyx both yelled from somewhere bellow you. Their voices were weak, but with newfound strength they pounced right into their friend's arms. The trio never looked so good, nor did they ever smile so bright.
Zanix, whipping pieces of ruble from her forehead sat up and looked around as well. Upon seeing you, she beamed and jumped up then immediately regretted it as a stabbing pain ran through her arm. "Oh, who cares!" she yelled, and clearly struggling against the pain made her way over to you.
Wrapping your arms around her loosely, you began to cry again. "I'm so happy you're okay! I was so worried back there! My goodness... Zanix!" you began rambling happily. She was at a loss for words. Emotion overcame her and she simply let herself lean into you.
"You know, you wouldn't be here if it wasn't for..." you slowly began scanning the area until you caught sight of a blue-gray mop. "Zexion!" you the shouted, pointing at the boy who was making his way over to you. "Zex, is it true?" she asked, all pain disappearing.
Letting your grip on her loosen, Zanix allowed Zexion to pull her up and wrapped an arm loosely around her waist for support. "Zanix. I'm not going to lie, seeing you out there fighting was the scariest experience of my life" he began in his icy drawl. Only this time, a pink tinge raged on his cheeks as he drew Zanix away for a little talk.
Deep down you could tell Zexion had a thing for Zanix. And by the way she would always worry about Zexion clearly showed the feelings were mutual. "I wonder how Marluxia is taking this" you questioned. Still you believed Marluxia had feelings for Zanix as well. "And I am left alone..." you sigh as a pang of jealousy greets you.
The trio was still parading around on top of the hill, now fooling around with Sora as well. Any tension from early between Sora and the guys had disappeared. It was as if you were never part of the organization at all.
Looking around, you take a quick look behind you and notice a bob of pink hair blowing in the distance. Something drew you up that hill and made you stand beside Marluxia as you both quietly looked onto the horizon. It no longer looked like a battlefield, but the site of many possibilities.
Rocks crumble beside you both as Zexion's face, considerably happier than a few minutes earlier, stood before you. The two men finally saw eye to eye, and for a minute you sensed tension. That was erased completely when Marluxia grabbed Zexion into an embrace. "It’s good to have you with us" Marluxia laughed.
Zexion tensed at Marluxia's odd gesture. "Oh boy, your going to have to get used to that" Zanix yelled from below. She sat on a rock, observing the scene with a grin. "I am so touched" "Get a room!" "Ow ooooow!" the trio along with Sora began howling out.
"I'm going to leave before things get... weird" Zexion says, and very oddly adds a little chuckle. As he walks back down towards Zanix, you lean into Marluxia's shoulder and you both fall onto your butts, sitting on the ledge. "Was that a..." you began "...joke?" Marluxia finished before you burst into a fit of laughter.
A large smile spread on his face as the idea that his plan worked dawned on him. "We're free" he mumbled. "It feels good" you add, closing your eyes and letting his scent greet you. He begins running fingers through your hair and laughing. "Hey Onyx" he asks.
Lazily, you open an eye. "Yes love?" you slur. He grabs a piece of your hair and places it next to a strand of his. They were the same color. "Look, we're two of a kind" he says with childish glee. "Great minds think alike" you mutter while still beaming.
Your eyes drop slowly onto the large rock where Zanix and now Zexion sat. Head to head, you noticed in that light Zexion's blue-grey hair and Zanix's purple streaked hair shone a similar blue shade. "And another two of a kind" you mutter.
"Well Marluxia. I'm sorry to say but looks like you two were never meant to be" you apologize only half-heartedly. His face contorted into a confused expression. "Are you kidding me? If you reject me I think I might jump off this cliff!" he said dramatically.
This statement took you aback. "What, me?!" you ask, your cheeks flashing a bright red. Looking into his eyes now, you can't help but get a goofy grin.
"Who were you talking about? Me and Zanix?" he questioned. You nodded quickly, not meeting his gaze. His serious face twisted back to a childish look of glee. He was the only person you've ever met that seemed to be two totally different people at any given moment.
"Oh honey, that's so wrong!" he chirped with a large laugh. "What, why? Zanix is a nice girl!" you holler, getting a little offended at how rudely Marluxia was talking about her. "Onyx! Zanix is my sister!" he revealed with a laugh.
Your face fell, and you made no effort to hide the surprise. "Wh-why didn't you ever tell me?!" you question, almost to yourself. "I just thought it was easier that way. I'd keep an eye on her from afar with no complications from anyone else" he explained simply. "Why did you think I was always so concerned about her? She doesn't remember her life from before, so she doesn't know" Marluxia added again with a laugh.
"I... can't believe it was me all along" you murmur, bringing your hands to your chest. "Man, you really are stupid. Lucky I've got the brains here" he laughed before bringing your lips onto his with ease.
His kiss, sweet at first and later more forceful, was brimming with passion you could have never even imagined. It seemed to mix the two very different personalities he balanced, which made you smile under his lips.
In the midst of all this war, chaos and the threat of death, you had managed to not only gain your freedom, but realized that there is so much more to life than having a heart... it's having someone to share it all with.
