Chapter 4's here, guys! Hope you like!
Chapter 4
We were on a train to Paris, France. Mickie and Striffy were currently giving me a short lesson from the seat in front of me and Yu.
"Ha! Beat that, Kiro!" Kaida exclaimed from behind us. They were currently playing videogames.
"Damn it!" He cursed. "Rematch!"
I chuckled. Kaida and Kiro were so alike.
"Okay, I'm tired of French," Mickie yawned, "Good night."
I felt tempted to remind her that it was only six pm.
Striffy sat back down.
"So…" Yu began.
"So…"
"Why do you have piercings but no highlights? It almost ruins the look."
"I can't hide them from my mom."
"Ah, she's one of those controlling people, right?" He asked.
I nodded. "I do plan on getting red highlights one day, though. Black and red are my favorite colors.
"Me too," He smiled.
I smiled back.
"Hey, Andy!" Kaida yelled from her seat, propping herself on her knees, "How much longer till we get to Paris?"
"Two more hours."
"What? You've gotta be kidding me!" Kaida whined, "I already beat Kiro at everything."
"Did not!" Kiro protested.
"Oh, yeah?" She smirked, "Name one game you've beaten me at."
Silence.
"See?" She smirked.
"Kaida," I began.
"Yeah?"
"Stop being mean to Kiro!" I teased, turning to face her, "You're so mean."
"I'm not mean."
"Yes, you are," Kiro agreed, grinning.
"But you're smiling!"
Kiro faked a sad face.
"Wow, you're good," Kaida acknowledged, "How about one more rematch? See if you can beat me now."
"You're on," He smirked.
Jaycee suddenly groaned. "For Heaven's sake, shut up! I wanna sleep."
She curled up next to Shin unconsciously. We threw teasing glances at him, who was blushing heavily.
"Your friends are funny," Yu said as everyone quieted down, "How about you? Are you funny?"
"Depends on what kind of funny you're thinking about," I shrugged.
"Clever."
"What music do you like?" I asked.
"The Gazette is my favorite band," He replied
"My favorite song by them is 'Filth in the Beauty'." I admitted.
"You like them, too?"
"Yeah, they're not my favorite, but I like them."
"Then what is your favorite?" He asked curiously.
"A lot," I replied, "One of my favorites is Bullet for My Valentine, actually. It's a heavy metal band."
"Haven't heard of them."
I took out my ipod and offered him an earphone. He took it and put it in his ear. I started playing "Tears Don't Fall" by them.
"They're good," He acknowledged, "Really good."
I nodded, yawning. My eyes started drooping.
Yu's POV
"Danny --" I then noticed her light breathing. "Well, you fall asleep fast."
I obviously didn’t receive an answer. Her head drooped to the side, and I sighed, letting her head rest on my shoulder.
"Hey, Danny --" Kaida looked over her seat and over to us, "Why's she asleep?!"
"Um…because she was tired?" I offered.
"I can see that," She said sarcastically, rolling her eyes, "I wanted to know if she wanted to play videogames with me. Kiro sucks."
"I do not!"
"Yes, you do."
"You're so mean," He muttered. She only grinned.
"I know."
"How about a rematch at it?" Kiro offered, "If I win --"
"If I win you have to admit you suck at videogames," She smirked, "If you win I'll stop bothering you."
"No. If I win you have to do one thing I tell you to," Kiro countered, "And same with you if you win."
"Fine. Get ready to lose, loser!"
I stopped paying attention. Instead I started browsing through her ipod.
Bullet for My Valentine, Bless the Fall, Escape the Fate, Three Days Grace, Lacuna Coil…not much pop, a lot of rock. I like her taste in music.
Later -- Back to Danny's POV
I awoke to find my head on Yu's shoulder. I blushed heavily and quickly sat up.
"Hello, Sleeping Beauty," Yu smirked, "We're almost at Paris."
"Really?" I stretched a little, relieving my neck of its stiffness, "What time is it?"
"Somewhere around 7:30."
"Oh," I yawned. Then something clicked in my head literally.
"Oh!" I exclaimed, "I promised my mom I'd call her every time we changed countries!"
"You promised?" He asked, eyebrow raised.
"Controlling mother, remember?" I explained. He nodded, muttering a slight "Oh."
I dialed my mother's number quickly, just wanting to get it over with.
"Hello?" I heard my mother's curious voice speak.
"Hey, mom!"
"Hi Danielle!" She exclaimed.
"Danny, mom," I corrected her for the umpteenth time. She, as always, ignored me.
"How's it going?"
"I'm good," I replied, "We're on our way to Paris right now."
"Really? Remember to take pictures for me!"
"I wish I could, but I accidentally left my camera at Jaycee's house," I lied. We wouldn't have much time for sightseeing, but I couldn't tell her that.
"Oh, darn!" I rolled my eyes at her lack of foul language, "Do any of the girls have cameras?"
"They're too lazy to bother themselves with camera's," I lied again. We'd actually taken many pictures -- Kaida already ran out of space on her first memory chip.
"Aw, that's too bad," She sighed. I felt a twinge of guilt for lying to her. "Well, atleast you have the memories."
"Yeah, mom."
"Has it been a fun trip so far?" She asked.
"Oh, definitely!" This time I wasn't lying, "I'm having so much fun!"
"Good, good!" My mom's voice suddenly became a little less cheerful, "Hey, I found a bunch of CD's under your bed…"
"W-what?" I asked, stiffening.
"Yeah, you know…CD's…awful rock CD's," She explained, "Are they one of you're friends? I told you I didn't like that kind of music."
"It's actually Mickie's," I lied, "She and Jayce and Kaida -- I mean, Chelsea -- wanted me to listen to them sometime but I never got around to it."
"Hn, I especially don't like that 'Cinema Bizarre' band," She huffed, "And that guitarist! I looked up all those vulgar bands on the internet. The guitarist -- Yu something -- performs with no shirt on! Has he no decency?"
"I didn't know that," I felt uncomfortable. I could tell my mother's ranting caught Yu's attention. How he heard it, I'm not sure.
"And tattoos! Piercings! And the hair!" She rambled on, "It's so vulgar! Vulgar!"
"Um, mom --"
"I want you to swear to me that you will never get your hair dyed -- unless its from that black -- or get any piercings -- oh, and no tattoos."
I couldn't promise anything on the piercings part. "Mom, you know I'd never do that," I tried to reason with her.
"I know, honey. How stupid of me for thinking that." She apologized, "But I want you to be the perfect woman. I want you to be successful."
"Thanks mom." I felt totally trapped.
"I love you, honey."
"Me too, mom. Hey, we're getting off the train now, so I gotta go," I lied. She said her goodbye's and hung up.
"Your mom's harsh…" Yu said mockingly, "I'm offended."
I didn't catch on that he was kidding
"If it helps," I blurted, "I like you."
He smirked at my immediate blushing. "Thank you. I like you, too." He then proceeded to poke me.
"Oh, stop!" I giggled.
"Tell me again why your mother didn't like me," He requested.
"What?"
"No, just tell me. What does she think a person who looks like me is?" He asked curiously.
"Vulgar…gross," I felt awful saying this, "Low-lives, ugly, having no decency when it comes to appearances. To the worst extent…Satan worshipers."
Silence. Did I go too far?
"You're mother's harsh."
I pursed my lips. "I know."
"It's amazing how you're going against her rules," He acknowledged, "It's going to be hell for you when she finds out."
"Actually --"
At that moment, the train halted. Andy told us to get our stuff and get out.
Somehow, even without words, I knew Yu knew what my answer would have been.
