"what kind of name is tsuki?!?!"
"my name..." tsuki looked up at the girls talking to her. three fake blond cheerleaders with way too much make-up on. of course... the preps... tsuki thought.
"wow. tsuki... what a stupid name!" the two behind the one speaking laughed. typical school... the most popular girl, always blond, always has followers, and always a cheerleader...
"like i can help it. now can you please just tell me where mrs. jacob's classroom is!" tsuki said. the leader snorted.
"go ask another nerd like you. i have no idea who that is. bye-bye tsuk-nerd!" she said. the followers laughed and left behind the first. some other kids hanging around the school entrance snickered to each other. great... maybe next school my name will be jessica or something... tsuki knew there would be another school. every year her dad found a new job, so every year they moved. new house, new school, but never any friends.
"so your names tsuki?" asked a voice from behind her.
"if your gonna make fun of it too, i dont need that crap!" tsuki said walking away.
"no! wait! i think its a beautiful name! so... unique!" tsuki turned around.
"what did you say?"
"i said, i love your name! and you shouldnt get so worked up about what ashley said. she only is mean to people because she doesnt know how to express her emotions." tsuki looked at the girl. she had straight black hair, purple-gray eyes, and a small lean body. like....ME! tsuki gasped. the girl did the same.
"OH MY GOD!" they said in unsion. "YOU LOOK LIKE ME!"
"whats your name?" tsuki asked.
"crecsent...." she replied.
"this is weird... we look so much alike!" tsuki said. she looks like she could be my sister! this is really weird... i need to talk to my her.
just then the bell rang. tsuki quikly asked, "do you know where mrs. jacob's room is?"
"yeah! shes my first class too! lets go." crescent answered. they hurried up the steps into the hallway. already it was nearly empty.
"come on!" crescent urged. they went up two flights of stairs and finally reached the door labled mrs. jacobs.
crescent slowly opened the door.
"...about the waning and waxing calander of the-" mrs. jacob turned around to face the girls. "well then, how nice of you to finally join us! who are you?" she asked, looking at tsuki.
as she was about to open her mouth to answer, crescent cut in.
"tsuki is new today, and i was giving her a tour of the school. i lost track of time and thats why we're late." she said smoothly.
"alright then. you are excused just this time. i expect you to be perfect in my astronomy class correct?" mrs. jacob said, waving her hand to an empty lab table in the back of the room. tsuki and crescent quickly headed toward their seat. but before they reached it, ashley stood up.
"excuse me mrs. jacob," she said in a 'sweet' tone. "but i remember speaking with tsuki," she said her name with obvious disgust. "just before class. definitly not enough time for her to have taken a tour with moon."
"crescent!" she corrected.
"is this true, crescent? tsuki?" mrs. jacob looked at them sternly. "if you had lied to me, there will be dire consequenses. i am talking about suspension."
"suspension over a lie! and how do you belive ashley is telling the truth!" tsuki blurted.
ashley walked to the table next to her where a boy with huge glasses was sketching in his notebook. she looked at the name written on the top of the book.
"matthew," she said batting her eyes. "you saw me talking with tsuki right before school didnt you?" matthew stared googlely eyed at her. his mouth agape because someone like ashley was actually talking to him, and knew his name. he nodded his head slowly.
"then its final! to the principle's office you two!" mrs. jacob commanded. ashley looked at them with a smug grin. all the sudden, tsuki felt complete hatred. her namebeing made fun of, trying to get hr in trouble, suspension in the first day.... her dad was sad enough as it is! while this was happening, crescent was arguing with the teacher.suddenly, a flash ofmidnight blue filled the room. two seconds later a wolfhad ashley's neck in her jaws. the wolf was pitch black with gray-purple eyes. except forher left hind paw and the tip of her tail and ears, which were pure white.lean and muscular, sharp teeth around thecheerleader's neck. pure terror was painted on ashley's face.
the wolf had many fleeting thoughts. where am i? why are there people? i want to kill this one! but soon clear, senseable thoughts pushed through. i must let go and figure what just happened. finally, the wolfreleased the girl,who slumped uncounsious from fright onto the floor.
the wolf crouched down defensively and looked around. human faces staring ather with fright and confusion. some hadpassed out. but onecaught her eye. a girl with long black hair and gray-purple eyes.
thoughts of comfort and recognization filled the wolf. sheslunked to thegirl whos eyes flashed with terror. the wolf hesitated. is she scared of me too? but soon the girl crouched down on her knees. she held out a welcoming hand. the wolf sniffed it. she was holding someting.a necklace.a saphirelocket with an engraving of a howling wolf, snout pointing to a full moon. the wolf started to have human thoughts. my mother's. my mother i never knew. my locket.
the girl held it out and the wolf slipped her head through it. another flash of dark blue filled the room. now, a girl stood were the wolf was.
tsuki grasped the locket. what just happened? she looked around. kids staring back with terror shock, and confusion. she looked at crescent. only she wore a calm face.with a quick nod of the head, sherose andtsuki followed. they left theclassroom and ran from the campus.
"come with me," crescent told tsuki. she nodded her head.
"i think myaunt mightknow what just happened."
