I returned to my room that morning feeling a little guilty just leaving him like that, but got over it eventually, and prepared for the hunt later tonight.
A knock at my door caught me off guard and I went to answer it seeing Sasuke standing at the door.
“Oh I see you’re feeling better” I replied stepping away from the door leaving it open.
He walked in, shutting the door behind him.
“You know I should thank you for coming up and helping me.”
“As well you should.” I said setting down on the couch.
“Yeah I came here to do just that. He replied setting next to me on the couch.
“Ok then are you going to say it or what?” I asked turning to look at him.
I was shocked to see him so close to me, which made me lean back to look at him.
“Ok Uchiha what’s up with you?”
“You, something about you. You’re different.”
“Ok that’s nice to know thanks for telling me that. I accept your thanks, now you can leave if you want.” I said turning back to look at him, but he was gone.
I sighed in relief that he was gone, only to have it crushed by two arms wrapping around my waist.
“Sorry I don’t think I want to leave just yet.” He replied, his breath sending shivers down my spine.
“Ok maybe we should talk about this first Sasuke.”
“Are you scared of me?” he asked, shock written all through his voice.
“No Uchiha I’m not scared of you.” I replied stepping away from him.
“Come on don’t be like that please.”
Ok what’s up with him, one minute he’s all big and bad, and the next he’s begging.
“What’s wrong with you Uchiha?”
“I just haven’t done this in a while sorry, I’ll go.”
He stepped back from me, and turned headed to the door.
“Uh Sasuke…” he turned to look at me then I continued, “If it helps…I haven’t done this in a while either, actually it’s been a few years since my last relationship.”
He smiled a little at what I said then walked back over to me.
“Sorry I’ve been acting weird lately. I’m not really like this, just ask Naruto, or really anyone here.”
“Ok I’ll do that.”
“Yeah do that,” he mumbled leaning down and giving me a soft kiss on the lips.
I was really surprised at what had happened, but when I opened my eyes he was gone.
“Wow ok now I’m confused,” I mumbled headed into my bedroom.
Later that night I left my room and headed to the main quarters of the building to meet everyone for the hunt.
“Hey chels haven’t seen you all day what’s up?”
“Oh hey temari I’m good, you?”
“Yeah I’ve been good.” She said turning her gaze to Shikamaru.
“You’re lucky temari, really lucky.”
“Thanks chels I guess I am huh?”
“Yeah, you are really.” I said to assure her then turned to find Tenika and Calinda.
“Hey chels ready for tonight?”
“Yeah Calinda, hey Tenika while you’re up there with neji, blow their heads off alright.”
Tenika and neji are both our best snipers.
“Ok I’ll do it.”
“Hey Chelsea-Chan what’s up?”
I turned to the voice I knew belonged to Naruto. “Hey Naruto nothing much you excited?”
“Yeah I mean we’re all going in together it’ll be awesome.”
“Yeah, hey have you seen Sasuke?”
“Yeah he’s over there.”
I followed naruto’s extended arm, and sure enough he was over there leaning against the wall like he had nothing better to do.
“Thanks Naruto I’m going to go over and talk to him.”
I walked over a little reluctantly, but still made it after arguing with myself.
“Hey,” I said as if it were just another day.
“Yeah,” was his simple reply.
“Oh come on don’t act like that we need to talk.”
“Yeah sure I guess you’re right.”
“Why’d you leave like that?”
“Like what?” he asked acting as if he didn’t have a clue to what I was talking about.
“You know what I mean Sasuke so just answer the question.”
“Yeah sorry about that. I don’t know why I left maybe it was because I know what I could do to you.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“I could’ve killed you.”
“Yeah so what?”
“So what? I could kill you and that means nothing to you?”
“Depends really if you were I’d just have to kick your ass.”
He chuckled then finally turned his head to look at me.
“So what’s this mean still team mates nothing more?” I continued eyeing him for a response or even a change in emotion.
“Yeah I guess. Just two team mates looking out for each other.” He mumbled walking away from me.
“Glad we’re on the same page,” I mumbled sighing afterwards.
The hunt went extremely well until we were ambushed right after leaving the area we attacked. Everything went wrong and guess who the target was, of course me.
(I’m not trying to sound self-centered or whatever you call it, it’s just the way I wanted the story to go.) I was at the back of the group of course making sure nothing came at us from behind when I was thrown to the ground. The guy had me pinned while saying, “Well aren’t you a pretty little thing. You’re blood smells so good are you just a human?”
“Why don’t you get off of her and we can fight like normal vampires.”
The guy turned, and so did I. it was Sasuke, great coming to the rescue.
“Well a half-breed how’s that working out for you?”
“Pretty good now how about you get off of her and we fight.”
“Sorry half-breed this girl’s my prey back off.”
“Really, cuz I thought if someone else’s scent was all over one person it practically meant they belonged to that person.”
The guy that had me pinned bent down toward me, doing something I couldn’t tell what though…wait he was smelling of me. One word…DISGUSTING.
“Well sorry half-breed didn’t know she was yours.”
He let go of me and attacked Sasuke, which had just gotten him killed in that instant.
“Here I’ll help you up.” Sasuke said leaning down and stretching out his hand in my direction.
“Thanks,” I replied taking his hand and standing up to see all of the others had finished off the other vampires.
“Ok Sasuke what was that dude talking about?”
“What do you mean?”
“He was smelling of me.” I said clearly disgusted.
“Yeah he smelt me on you.”
“Ok disgusting, but ok.”
“Hey I saved your butt be thankful.”
“I said thanks didn’t I?”
“Yeah I guess you did,” he mumbled walking away from me and checking on everyone else.
“What’s his deal gosh.”
Later that night I was thankful that the weekend was coming, and that other hunters would be taking over on the hunts.
I would say I rested well that night, but that would be a lie. I had a nightmare, typical right? Well I’ve had this same one almost every night. I would go into detail, but that would just hurt too much, so let’s just say it was of memories about the past.
I was at least thankful this once when someone knocked on my door. It woke me up quickly and I went to answer it. And who do you think it was? Well let’s see if you guessed Calinda you’d be wrong. Ok let’s go with Tenika. Wrong again try Sasuke, yep it was him again, I mean come on I don’t get what his deal is.
“Ok Sasuke for once I’m thankful you woke me up.”
“Ok may I ask why?”
“No I’d rather not talk about it, what do you want?” I asked no longer sounding annoyed.
“I just wanted to talk.”
“Yeah you seem to want to talk to me a lot lately. Sorry just tired what do you want to talk about?”
“I need to be sure we’re on the same page here.”
“Ok here as in what exactly?”
“You know what I’m talking about Chelsea, so just tell me what I need to know.”
“Actually Sasuke I believe I don’t, because you haven’t told me yet.” I said as matter-of-factly.
“Fine, I need to know if we think the same with what I said earlier about us only being team mates nothing more.”
“Yeah sure hey I’m all for it Sasuke, I don’t like vampires.” I said coldly. The reason for that I have no clue.
“Fine that’s good we’re on the same page,” he replied pushing me, yet again to the wall crushing his lips against mine. It happened so fast I had no time to react, and as soon as my brain caught a hold of what was happening he pulled away and walked to the door.
“Oh no you don’t, not this time,” I said following him out into the hallway.
“Go back to bed Chelsea,” he said as if he could order me around.
“Yeah right like I would just let you get away with that again. Just tell me what your problem is, at a moment you’re a total jackass and the next you act as if we’re together. Got any explanation for that?” I asked practically yelling with anger.
He covered my mouth quickly with his hand pulling me backwards back to my room.
“Do you have to be so loud?” he asked shutting my door and letting me go.
“Well I guess I have to be to get any answers.”
“Look this isn’t something I would like the whole base to know.”
“Oh and what is that Sasuke?”
He took a moment before answering, walking closer to me, brushing my cheek with his hand. “I think I’m in love with you.”
I couldn’t speak. I was frozen solid in my spot, him too his hand still resting on my cheek.
“What do you mean?” I asked that being the only thing I could think of.
“Do I have to explain the feelings, or are you at least that smart enough to understand?”
“See that’s exactly what I mean Sasuke. Two different personalities, one pointing daggers at me, the other begging for a response.”
“I’m sorry it’s just the way I am,” he replied walking over to my couch, and setting down making himself comfortable.
“Is that the only reason you came?” I asked walking towards him.
“Actually I would also like to get to know you a little better, maybe we could talk about your past. You know since I told you about mine.”
“My past isn’t important Sasuke, so let’s just get to the point.”
“What point?” he asked as if he had no clue to what I was talking about.
“Forget it,” I mumbled walking past him, and headed to the kitchen. As I was walking by though, he grabbed a hold of my wrist and pulled me down to sit on his lap.
“What the crap Uchiha.”
“I don’t want you leaving just yet.”
“Why obviously you won’t tell me anything so what’s the point in me sticking around?”
“My point would be the fact that I need to know about your past, it’s the only way you can get over it.”
“Look it’s not something I like to talk about ok.”
“I know, but you need to at least tell someone to get it out.”
“Oh and you think I want that person to be you, correct?”
“I don’t think, I know.”
“Oh well aren’t you special.”
“Look maybe I was wrong. Hey I tried, but you’re just too stubborn.”
“Ha-ha very funny, now leave.”
And he did leave, but he did kiss me before he did, it left me even more confused and sort of angry because he never says anything to me.
