From A to Z ... and everything in between (Axel) [[12]]

It's Destiny

Demyx's fading shape into darkness was probably the hardest moment you had to deal with so far, yes even worse than when you first lost your heart. "And then there were two" Axel pointed out, seeming less affected than you were by all of this. "I just hope he makes it" you mutter.

Standing up tall and stretching his muscular limbs, Axel grabs your hand and pulls you up next to him. Throwing an arm loosely over your shoulder, he smirks your way. "So love, what's our next move?" And with that, your face reflected a look of sheer dumbfounded-ness.

In all honesty, you hadn't thought this plan out this far. In fact, you never thought Demyx would leave, or that you'd ever find Sora. "Well, here's the funny thing..." you begin, getting red in the face out of embarrassment.

"It's okay. I'll figure it out. It sucks to have to have the brains and the looks in this family!" he stated dramatically. "Imagine. I won't fight you for the brains, but I'm definitely the pretty one in this family" you tease, ruffling his hair.

He jumped back in horror. "You vile woman, my hair is my life!" he shrieked, trying to rearrange it, only making the strands stand out worse. Closing your eyes while laughing, you see a flash of a star and then a small, budding village overlooking the ocean.

"How you feeling about Destiny Islands?" you ask, trying to remember the proper name of the place you had just seen in your mind. "It's a little too perky of a town for me, why?" Axel asked, shrugging it off.

Something within you surges. "That's where we have to start, I think" you share. He just shoots you a quick glance and shrugs. "Okay missy. Let's go and see where it takes us" he says adventurously. Sora jumps in quickly. "You guys need some help?" he offers.

Shaking your heard quickly, you send him a smile. "Thanks, but we'll be okay" you say happily. Axel smiles as a look of rejection spreads across Sora's young features. "Stay here in case Demyx comes back first" you remind him. He just nods and sighs.

"Well alright. But come back soon and... um..." Sora shuffles his feet quickly. "Don't forget me" he adds before giving you a big hug. To Axel, he mutters a quick "good luck" and the two of you were off with a portal.

Demyx's scent greets you as you emerge by the ocean side, overlooking a quaint town. A tiny jolt of warmth surrounds you as you gaze towards the little brick houses. "Hey, Axel" you whisper gently. "What" he replies, not quite as quietly as you. His voice carries with the wind and echoes within the town.

"Wow, that was odd" he then says, slightly taken aback as he shakes his arm out. "There was like, this stab in my arm" he explains, pointing to his elbow and pouting. "You're just so excited to be near me" you joke, laughing as you run a finger down his forearm.

Normal clothes suited his fit, but lanky still, body very well. His arms looked perfect in the t-shirt he was sporting. He now turned his head to face you and sent an odd smile your way. "Yeah, that must be it" he muttered.

"What was that?" you ask, looking at him obliviously. "I said you must be ecstatic to be in my amazing presence. And really lucky too" Axel boasts, pushing out his chest. You roll your eyes and smack his chest, making him choke for air. "You dork" you laugh before walking to towards the town.

The scenic walk became very boring very quickly. At first, it was nice outside, so walking was pleasant, but now the wind picked up, and you could have sworn you saw flecks of snow. "Dude, isn't it summer?" you began complaining, wrapping your arms around yourself.

"Yeah, this is lame" Axel shivered, his teeth clattering together. "We could always share body heat" he said seductively. You frown. "That's the worst pick up line ever, I'd rather freeze" you tease, finally making it to the gates of the town.

Pins and needles suddenly rush through your arm and you grab Axel for support. "See, I knew you wanted me" he joked. But after seeing the pained look on your face, he approached you with a nervous expression. "Hey, Zixy stay with me!" he yelled, shaking you.

Your moment passed as you regained proper feeling in your arm. "That was weird" you state, glancing around yourself for some kind of explanation. "We should get some rest" Axel suggests, still smirking. "We're getting two different rooms tonight" you clarify, bursting any thoughts he was formulating.

"That won't stop me" he teased, licking his lips. "You're a fool, let's just go" you agree, searching around for a hotel. In the distance, you see a bright purple and yellow sign flashing. "And we'll try and go there!" you point happily, suddenly yearning for some sleep.

Axel trudged forward, grabbing your hand and leading you with him. It had gotten warmer once again, you no longer found yourself in a hurry to get to the Hotel. Enjoying your walk and the area around you, you failed to notice Axel was still holding your hand, and he was no longer pulling you, but walking by your side calmly.

People walked passed you and came and went, not bothering to give you a second glance. Finally, you felt like you fit in. Heart or not, you still had the right to a life like this. "This is nice" Axel verbally agreed, giving your hand a squeeze.

But things could never go right for you. Another wave of pain hit you, this time spreading throughout your entire body. "A-Axel" you squeal, falling to the floor. Your world swirls black and sleep eventually overcomes you.

(Third person view)

Throwing himself to the floor, Axel was able to catch Zixy's falling body. "Oh, is she alright?" a passer by gasped, her gentle voice coming out full of concern. Axel turned to face this new girl and was left breathless as he was staring at her familiar face.

The girl stood there with her long dark hair shinning, her brows furrowed in worry. "Yeah, she's fine" Axel stuttered, gazing into the light eyes of Zixy's perfect twin. "Oh, that's good. She really scared me for a second" the girl said with a sheepish chuckle.

Axel continued to look at her, bewildered that there could be such an exact replica of the girl he was holding in his arms. "Anyway, I guess the best idea is to get her to bed" the girl said quickly. "Good luck with her" she added before returning to her group of friends and jogging away.

He watched the girl disappear and then looked down at Zixy to make sure she was still there and not actually the girl walking away from him. "I think I should be the one to get some sleep. Give your head a shake" Axel scolded himself, trying to snap out of the daze.

Grabbing Zixy around the knees, Axel managed to carry her (yes bridal style) in his arms. Her sunken face seemed so pale, her cheeks void of any color. Her breathing also came very slowly, almost non-existent, which made Axel aware of the danger his friend was in. "Let's get you somewhere safe" he mumbled and shot off toward the purple and yellow sign.

He managed to get a room in no time flat and soon was sitting at the side of a King size bed in a tiny, wooden room. The inn-keeper, an older lady, didn't ask any questions and practically shoved Axel into a room. "Take care of your girlie. We'll talk prices later" she croaked while slamming the door shut.

"How discrete" Axel mocked aloud, only to frown when he realized he'd get no reply from Zixy. "My god woman, please wake up" he grabbed her cold hand. "Zixy. Come on, Zixy! You've gotta hear me!" he tried again, desperation increasing with every word.

Hours upon hours flew by. Axel valiantly tried everything possible, but she would not wake. Not even stir. The color was still drained from her sleeping face. So he reverted to doing what he does best... talking.

To her sleeping form, he spoke of life before he met her and Demyx, when he was alone at the Organization. He told her how hard learning emotions was for him, because he'd always be wishing they were real. He even told her about his crush on the late Larxene. "I like girls with a little edge" he mumbled, now stroking Zixy's arm slowly. "Please, please you have got to wake up" he whispered, bringing his face close to hers.

But Axel wasn't lucky and once again got no reply. "It's okay. We'll try again in the morning" he decided, looking outside and noticing the moon high in the sky. "Shove a bum" he then joked to her passed out form, creeping under the covers.

For a second before settling, he sent her a long glance. "We'll try again in the morning" he murmured, closing his eyes... her hand still tight in his.
