Okay to all my readers who have followed me from the begging. This is a one-shot I made for a very sweet girl who requested. But I warn you, this is FAR from my typical writing style and is very sinister and sarcastic. I’ve pretty much made a whole new character you’ll find is nothing like I’ve ever written before. And well to me I think its my best writing so far. So I think you’ll really like this if you can take some harsh criticism and actually read your way through you’ll really like it.

You’d think after countless journeys and travels giving me more money then I’d count I’d finally stop this and realize all my relentless suffering. But no, Here we are another pointless, boring and for some reason money deserving trip. Ya know maybe someday I’ll call it quits and retire from this damned assassins organization. I mean I’ve had a great deal of ‘life or death’ in this industry and sooner or later one of my team members are going to end up getting killed and cost us all our whole corporation. And maybe me… oh who the hell am I kidding? I could care less about this damn organization or the people who run it. Better them then me. That’s always been my motto.
So here I am laying half way drunk, half way still subsiding from a hangover in the back of a big black smuggling truck making its way into the Kanto region of Japan. Japan you ask? God if only I knew. Not to be the racist bastard that I am, but I’m in no way syked about going into this country of loony Asians who think nothing but lesser then dirt of Americans and all that we stand for while I make sick jokes about there new god sending Godzilla after them leading there peaceful world to a sick twisted monster battle between Godzilla and Cloverfield.
“Rain… Rain.. Rain wake the hell up!” My eyes shot open at the voice of my annoying co-worker Taylor standing over me with the back doors of the truck wide open.
“What the fuck you could have given me a heads up before pulling over and stopping to show the world my lazy ass asleep and drunk on the job.” I went to grab the truck door to close it back up but she pushed me back before I could.
“There’s no one out here. Now lose the vodka bottle and come on.” I jumped out of the back into a soft downfall of snow. It was icy cold outside sending chills through my body as the air fell onto my skin. But I didn’t care. Nor did I lose the vodka bottle.
I followed Taylor up an icy drive way to a big looking office building. She then tiptoed her way around the back while I lagged behind not making myself hidden at all.
“Where are we going?” I asked taking another gulp from the bottle.
“Quiet!” she yelled grabbing me behind a dumpster.
“What the hell was that for? You made me spill my Siberia.”
“Oh shut up this is more important then alcohol!” I laughed in a whisper at her remark. I didn’t really think nor care about much more then alcohol. And I didn’t see the point in trying to care about anything in my life anymore. I guess you could say I’ve hit rock bottom. But hey I try at least I got a job, for now…
“So um what exactly are we doing here?” I asked not knowing anything about.. well anything. Taylor was always the one who knew about our missions and how to go about doing them. She was pretty much the infiltrator and the everything-er if that’s even a word… And me? Well I’ve mastered more then seven marital arts. Went through 2 years as a U.S. Army surgeon. And became an elite warrior in the covert assassins army, trained in the art of stealth. Oh and I also did a lot of study of bombs and physiology. So I guess you could say I was kind of randomly picked for my job and not interviewed on my ‘amazing’ personality. Lets just say I’ve got long history.
“You see that window?” Taylor said pointing to the 12th floor.
“Yeeeah.” I said emphasizing the yee part.
“Well cowboy, we have to get to that room without entering through the building. Got and bright ideas?” she asked standing from our hiding position behind the dumpster.
“Oh.. Just one.” And before she could reply I had already ran and jumped up the side of the building grabbing one of the rain drains swinging myself up to the second floor railing. But before I continued my jump up the rails I swung myself around looking down at her standing by the dumpster still.
“You comin or what?!” I yelled. She rolled her eyes and slowly walked over to the drain pipe scaling up the building in a slow pace.

We eventually made our way into the room and quietly crept around in the dark. Taylor began going through file cabinets and folders full of papers that were scattered everywhere on the floor. I made myself comfortable on the big white leather couch they had in the room. It sat right across from a round coffee table with a labtop and old boxes full of junk food.
“Figures, the culprit’s a junkie.” I put my feet up on the table leaning back.
“Would you stop enjoying there furniture and get off your ass and help me!?” Taylor yelled in a whispered tone. Although it was pitch black I guess she could obviously tell I wasn’t doing anything else but what I usually do.
“Well tell me what I’m supposed to be looking for I’ll help!” I whispered back.
“Were looking for files. Anything you can find on the Kira case.” I practically burst out laughing when I herd the name Kira.
“So now were working on the Kira case? God damn this company is the worst. I need better missions. Wait so why are we here then?”
“Well the main detective who’s working on this case had some of his files stolen and now he believes there hidden here and wanted some of America’s best agents to go in and retrieve them from the criminal who took them.”
“Wait so some idiot got his files stolen, and then requested that American agents go in and get his shit cause he’s to lazy to get it himself? Bastard.”
“Yeah now if you could get up and help that’d be nice.”
“Sure… I’ll go check the… kitchen.” I jumped off the couch running into the kitchen before Taylor could state the fact that there wouldn’t be anything useful in the kitchen.

I swung the refrigerator door open and looked around moving stuff to different shelves and out of my way.
“Dude what’s this guys problem? What’s with all the freakin cake!?” I threw the empty boxes into the back and pulled open the bottom drawer hoping for some sort of alcohol… but no just a bunch of gross fruit.
“May I ask why you’re searching my refrigerator?” A mans voice came out of nowhere scaring the crap out of me. But I jumped at awareness. Good thing for that training. I jumped up to see no one in sight, but then again it was pitch freakin black so there wasn’t much to see.
I pulled out my gun and squinted my eyes to see in the dark. A noise could be herd in the corner behind me. But before I could turn around some ones arm had grabbing my arm holding the gun causing me to drop it. I quickly swung myself around kicking my leg out on the ground causing the man to fall down. I reached for my gun where I had dropped it once he was down but before I knew it I got kicked in the arm and punched in the back.
“God Damnet.” was all I could mumble out as I fell to the ground in anger.
“I’m not even playin this game today.” I grabbed my gun and jumped to my feet.
“Listen up, I’m having a bad day, I’ve got a bad hangover, and I’m in no mood to play hide and go seek. Now we can do this the hard way or the easy wa…” Right before I finished I could feel the pushing of wind coming towards my face meaning I was about to get kicked. Thankfully to all the pointless training back at head quarters I was able to react before they made contact and ducked backwards going into back handspring.
“The hard way eh? Alright.” I wasn’t going to take this anymore. I jumped into a roll grabbing the guys waist and pushing him backwards. Then pulled a fast jump kick throwing them into the wall. I grabbed hold of there arms before they could get away again and pushed my gun up against there head warning them.
“Alright now lets see who.. You.. Are.” I pulled the barrel back on my gun, aimed it at the ceiling, and pulled the trigger shooting a wire turning on the light switch. And in a blink of an eye there I was standing face to face with a tall Asian looking man with bushy black hair.
“You should be more careful, you might end up hurting someone with that.” How dare he have the nerve to patronize someone with a gun!
“Oh yeah how bout that someone be you?” I pulled the barrel back and aimed the gun at his head. Before I could pull the trigger Taylor came rushing in.
“Ah no Rain don’t!” she yelled.
“Why!? This bastard tried to kill me!”
“That bastard is the same bastard who had his files stolen.” Suddenly my eyes widened with huge embarrassment.
“Really?” I said looking at him.
“Yes.” he said with a smirk… what a jerk.
I let go of his shirt collar but didn’t put my gun down.
“Then why were you trying to kill me?” I said giving him a death glare. He smiled somewhat with blush.
“Please. Relax. Come into the living room.” He then pushed me out of my way and made his way back into the living room. I looked at Taylor in huge confusion. She simply shrugged and made the movement to just follow him.
I walked back into the living room where the lights were now turned on and the man was sitting on his couch putting a lollipop into his mouth. What a weirdo…
I sat on the ground in front of the table and so did Taylor.
“I am L.” Not a very beat around the bushes type of guy huh?
“I am the main detective on the Kira case.”
“Yeah I’ve herd all about you.” Taylor said glomping over him. Please, I rolled my eyes.
“Yes well. No files were stolen, and I apologize for alarming you.” He took a pause to look at something on his labtop and went on.
“I requested for you agents to come here and find stolen files to test your abilities.” He said looking awkwardly down at some papers.
“What??” I said completely lost.
“Let me explain.” He smiled inwardly. “Throughout my investigation I’ve realized how serious this case is and how publicly worldwide its becoming. I knew I would need some more worldly agents on my team in order to capture Kira. Thus in worldly I those, Americans. In which also I need full cooperation from there country. So choosing American agents would be an advantage on my point. At any rate. I needed to know, to be sure if American agents would be useful. So I put you to the test fooling you into thinking you were retrieving stolen files. But in actuality you’ve landed your self’s right into my home and investigation grounds. I must say I’m very impressed with your work. And your combat skills.” He finished looking sideways at me with a cocked eye brow. I simply smirked at how he probably felt bad for getting his ass kicked by a girl.
“So wait, me and Rain are working on the Kira case now?… With you.. With THE L?!”
Does she ever quit?
“Mhm.” He simply said not lifting his head from his labtop.
“Oh please Taylor don’t get so over dramatic. He obviously NOT that great if I can beat the snot out of him!” I said tempting his nerves. I wanted to see how long it would take to annoy this guy and make him lose it. From the way he looks, he’s already lost it, so it shouldn’t take long.
“Excuse me?” He said lifting his eyes from the screen. Ha, told you it’d be soon.
“You herd me. I beat the shit out of the famous L.” I leaned back on my hands getting a better look at him. And just when I thought he would probably through me out of here he smiled… smiled…what the hell!
“Rain, I do believe I told you I was testing you. For agents I needed. Don’t you think if it was just a test I wouldn’t really want to harm you?” Damn that was good. So this guys not that bad. He might just be something.
“Who knows maybe your just a pervert. Touching girls in the dark, creepy.” I couldn’t help but giggled to myself at my awesome remark.
He gave me another cocked eye brow look with somewhat wide eyed expression at my reply. Victory, ha he loses.
“If that’s true. I don’t believe I’m the creepy one going through people’s kitchen’s.” Oh wow he is good. Finally someone worth my time. Heh, this could be fun.
“Okay Skip, can I call you Skip?” I stood up looking at him with innocent girl eyes.
“My name is L.” I nodded back at him ignoring his reply.
“Okay Skip where do you keep the vodka?”
