So Much Pain Behind These Eyes
Chapter 1 : So Much Pain Behind These Eyes
So Much Pain Behind These Eyes “Jasper, get the damn door already.” My father yelled through the house. I walked from the kitchen into our family room. If that’s what you would call it. “Hello?” I asked opening up the door. “Hi, is this where Jasper…” She stopped talking as she saw it was me. “Yes, I’m Jasper. What do you need?” I asked not caring if she wanted to go on. “Ohh. Umm. Mrs. Dianne. She..” The girl was still taking me in. She finally shook her head to get her wits about her. “You’re my partner for the year and Mrs. Dianne wanted me to bring this to you.” She said quickly. I nodded and took the papers. “Ok thanks.” I said about to shut the door. “Will you be at school tomorrow?” She asked me. “Maybe.” I replied as I walked back to the kitchen. “You can come in.” I yelled. As I entered the kitchen. I heard the door close from the other room. “Nice place.” She said as she followed me into the kitchen. I knew she was lying. The place was a dump. We had papers all over the tabletops and on the floors. “Thanks.” I said accepting her compliment anyway. She observed everything as I asked her to sit down. She did. “Would you like something to eat?” I asked her as I finished the spaghetti. “No thanks.” She replied. I looked at her for a moment before making a plate and bringing it to my dad. “Here dad.” I said handing him the plate. He looked up and took the plate not bothering to say anything as he continued to watch TV. I quickly left happy with my timing. As I walked back into the kitchen I saw the girl sitting quietly at the table. “So what’s your name? I don’t think I’ve seen you around the school.” I asked her. “Oh I’m new. I come from Romania.” She said. It was then I noticed her accent. “Oh ok.” I replied. She was different from the girls at school. It was only normal for her to react the way she did at the door. I was the most like her in this town. “I guess I’ll leave now.” She said getting up. I almost tried to stop her. “Ok bye. Be safe.” I said following her to the door. She nodded then opened the door and was gone. He had watched her until she reached the end of the street and was out of sight. She wears black! I thought to myself excited.
