The Demon Hidden Within {YYH-Kurama}(for girls) Ch.1
Chapter 16 : The Demon Hidden Within (YYH-Kurama)Ch.16
Hello, I'm sorry it took me SSSOOOO long but I had alot of stuff to do. *whispers* plus, every once in a while, I couldn't bring myself to get out of bed. If you know what I mean *Wink* Well, I hope you enjoy this next chapter. (I love doing cliff-hangers XD)
The Masked Fighter turned her attention back to her unconscious patient, her eye scanning over the bloody skin that the remainder of his ripped white shirt could not cover. Slowly and carefully, she lifted the arm that the Death Plant had been injected into and placed a gentle hand over the area where the green stem sprouted out from the slightly paled skin. She closed her eyes, trying to sense how much Spirit Energy the plant had absorbed, thus calculating how much the plant had grown throughout his body.
She clenched her teeth in discomfort. ‘This is not good; the vines have already entered his heart. If I attempt to remove it while he is unconscious, I could unintentionally make a gouge in his heart.’ She opened her eyes with the new determination that she saw in Yusuke’s only moments ago. ‘For now, I can only heal the injuries that have yet to be penetrated by the Death Plant and hopefully he will awaken sooner so I may treat the vines as soon as possible.’
With one last glance in Yusuke’s direction, she placed both of her hands over Kurama’s heart and forced as much of her own energy into his body that her energy-sealing mask would allow her. Ignoring the pain that threatened her figure, she pushed on. She sighed quietly, not knowing whether too be thankful or irritated for the mask she was given. Thankful because the mask imprisoned her energy thus holding off the full and complete pain she would normally have to endure day by day; irritated because without that energy she could not heal Kurama’s wounds quicker.
As the newly obtained Spirit Energy flowed through Kurama’s veins, the cuts and gashes that were formed from Touya’s Shards of Winter attack rapidly began to disappear and the color of the red head’s skin slowly turned to normal. Giving out a sigh of relief, the Masked Fighter withdrew her hands away from the boy’s body and back to her sides before shifting her position to where both her knees were on the ground and the palms of her hands were placed in her lap; she moved this way as a precaution so her cape would not accidentally move out of place and reveal her gender.
The Masked Fighter, suddenly remembering the mysterious emerald green eyes, lifted her gaze up from Kurama’s chest to his face. With her eyebrows raised in shock, her revealed eye traced over the red head’s soft features slowly. He was definitely not what she expected him to look like. His perfectly smooth skin was free from all blemishes that most teens his age would have while a few strands of his fiery red hair draped over his shoulders and his bangs lightly touched the closed curtains that covered his eyes. His long black eyelashes started to flutter slightly while a small groan escaped his parted lips. In a matter of seconds, the girl found herself gazing into the curious green eyes of the now fully awake Kurama.
“I see you are conscious again. How do you feel?” the Masked Fighter ask, her shown eye completely drowned in pure concern for her teammate’s wellbeing.
Kurama blinked, slightly overwhelmed by the emotion in her eye and still not use to the four voices that disguised her real one. “Surprisingly; I feel perfectly fine, despite the Death Plant’s affects.”
Before the girl could question Kurama’s health any further, a loud boom was heard in the direction of the arena that forced both of their attention to be pulled towards the ring. On the wall surrounding the arena, a large dent with muscular legs dangling out of it was made on the apposing team’s side. Koto stood in the middle of the ring, counting how long Bakken had been out loudly before turning towards Yusuke’s way and announcing he was the winner. But the teenager just ignored her and ran back to his team’s side of the arena to see how his injured teammate was fairing.
“How ya doin’?” Yusuke asked as he kneeled down on the other side of Kurama, right across from the Masked Fighter.
Kurama looked up at his team‘s captain apologetically. “I’ll survive. Sorry I couldn’t finish the first three of them as I planed.”
“Shut up.” Yusuke stated with a slight laugh at the end, happy that he was doing fine. “How’s the wounds?”
“You shouldn’t be asking me.” Kurama moved his gaze away from the curious Yusuke and turned his head towards the Masked Fighter, which in turn, made Yusuke look up as well.
The girl closed her eyes in slight discomfort from the two pairs of curious eyes before answering. “His injuries from Team Masho are fully healed, but I have yet to remove the Death Plant that has been sewn into his body.”
“Oh! Well, that’s cool.” Yusuke said, a little unsure on what to say to the fighter with four voices.
“Did you heal my wounds, Fighter?” The Masked Fighter only nodded before opening her eyes. “Well then, I believe thanks are in order.”
“It is not a problem. I am happy to help when it is needed.”
“Question.” Yusuke said, drawing the girl’s attention. “Uh, do you think you can help him with the killer plant?”
“Of course.”
“Good, then I’ll handle the rest of these guys.” Yusuke stated standing up in determination while taking one of his fists and punching it into the palm of the other.
“Be cautious with them Yusuke.” Kurama warned, looking up at his over confident friend. “Whatever plans the Shinobi have for this island, they want it very badly. These last two members are without a doubt the strongest.”
Yusuke gave the concerned redhead a reassuring grin. “Don’t worry Kurama! You just get plenty of rest and I’ll handle these guys!”
“And if you cannot, I will be fighting next.” The Masked Fighter commented.
“Hey! You sound like you think I’m going to lose!”
The girl looked up at the irritated teen. “I am sorry, that is not what I was referring to. What I meant by that was that this Tournament Committee has not been on our side in the previous match ups. With that being said, do you really believe that they will allow you to fight scar free?” she asked, gaining a questioning look from the captain before she continued to explain further. “If you are not careful, they will take advantage of you; using their rules, they will somehow force to into a corner and make you lose the match.”
Yusuke nodded and turned around, but not before giving out a few words of thanks. Once the black haired teen was up on the ring and facing his opponent, who was none other than Jin the Wind Master, the Masked Fighter shifted her gaze back on Kurama. “May I see your arm?” she asked after Koto shouted for the next match to begin.
Before Kurama could respond, a large gust of wind erupted from the ring, grabbing anything that was not tied down, including the cape that forced the Masked Fighter to pull her arm back to secure the top part of the dark clothe close to her chest. The two powerful teens looked up to look up at the match, but as their gaze shifted upwards, Jin flew by them and caught their eyes. They continued to watch as the Master of Wind spun and flipped in the air, leaving those in his path to hold onto any and all of their valuables or else his wind would carry them away.
Jin soared straight up into the sky before zooming down towards Yusuke’s prepared formed. The demon punched the teen straight in the face but as the blow was given, Yusuke swung his leg around to try and kick his opponent off to the side only for it to be dodged causing Yusuke’s weight to be turned off balanced and forcing his body to whirl around as he flew back from the punch. Taking advantage of the wind stopping and Kurama’s lack of attention toward her, the Masked Fighter gently lifted his arm off the ground and onto her lap, still staying fully alert to how much of her cape moved away from her body.
“What are you doing?” Kurama asked, now fully aware of the Masked Fighter’s presence.
The girl’s eye glanced up at the red head before she placed her fingers softly on his opened wound. “Please, allow me to deal with the Death Plant while you just rest.” Kurama stared at the fighter before nodding his head. The golden-brown eye closed as her four toned voice spook again. “Tell if I am hurting you.”
As he heard her say that, something moved within his body; he soon realized that it was the plant when he saw the vines that grew from his arm slowly start to withdraw back into his wound. His breathing started to become shallow as he felt the vines rapidly move throughout his blood stream and back toward the seed it bloomed from. Kurama clenched his teeth to prevent from screaming as the plant made its way painfully through his lungs. But he couldn’t stop the small grunt that unintentionally left his throat.
Hearing this, the Masked Fighter stopped her energy flow immediately. “I am sorry! Are you alright?”
Kurama was so taken back from the urgency in four voices that he could only stare wide-eyed as the girl waited for an answer. Slowly, he nodded his head before replying. “Yes, I’m fine. Thank you for your concern.”
The Masked Fighter gazed at him for a moment longer, waiting for him to say more on his pain, but shortly returned to mending his wound. Glancing up at his facial expressions every so often, she commanded her energy to slowly pull the plant back into its seedling form. Once Kurama’s eyes closed and pain ran across his features, she knew she had reached his heart, but gave a quick jolt of energy and forced the vines to rapidly exit his important organ. Kurama heaved a sigh of relief but kept his eyelids sealed shut as the vines continued to move through his form.
Within a few more seconds, the Masked Fighter only had to remove it from the rest of his arm. But as soon as she readied to finish her job, a large gust if wind forced her to grip onto her cape as to not reveal herself to Kurama. Both the red head and the black haired girl looked up at the ring to find Jin floating up in the sky with miniature tornadoes rapidly spinning around both of his outstretched arms while Yusuke stood down below with a familiar stance. The detective’s feet were spread widely apart while his knees became slightly bent and one of his arms reached across his torso to linger underneath his other hand as if he was holding an invisible ball within his hands; the Masked Fighter knew this attack all too well.
“He is going to try it.” the girl commented unintentionally, attaining Kurama’s attention.
“May I ask what it is you’re talking about?”
The Masked Fighter pulled her cape closer to her body before responding. “It is Genkai’s signature. Yusuke has handled the elements of the move countless times in his training. But I know for a fact that he has never used its full form.” the girl swallowed, knowing what might happened if he failed. “As Genkai put it; with his utter lack of discipline, she was never lead to believe that Yusuke was ready for it. It is true that the move could defiantly compete with Jin but it could also destroy Yusuke’s body from within.”
Kurama turned to gaze at his captain’s energy surrounded form. “I see.”
Jin flipped backwards excitedly, sensing his opponent’s energy radiate off of him before diving down head first then throwing a tornado-surrounded fist at Yusuke’s face. Unfortunately for the Wind Master, Yusuke was able to do the unthinkable and grab the fist that was centered in the whirled winds before throwing off to the side, causing Jin to go off balance. The Shinobi quickly regained his balance in the air then aimed his other fist towards the detective in another attempt to knock his opponent out. Yusuke blocked it once more, this time using his foot as to shield the rest of his body from the assault.
Yusuke spun his leg around, forcing Jin’s other arm to go outward and cutting off the wind’s circulation like the first. The Spirit Detective then brought back his own fist and commanded his energy to surround his balled hand before sending it into the demon’s stomach while shouting out the technique’s name.
“Spirit Wave!”
With rapid speed, Jin was sent flying back in an unconscious state as the audience scrambled to clear a way from his decent on the sitting area. Yusuke stood, his body trembling, while he struggled to breathe deeply as a means to calm his wild energy.
“Impressive.” Kurama whispered after a few moments silence from the crowd.
“Yusuke did well for his first try.” the Masked Fighter stated, slightly less shocked than both the audience and the rest of her team. “The Spirit Wave is a flexible move and is similar to the Spirit Shotgun that Yusuke learned. It can make a large spread if fired from a distance, making it harder to dodge but it is not as damaging as the Spirit Gun. The true advantage of the Spirit Wave comes from when it is shot at close range through a punch or kick.” Kurama glanced at her from the corner of his eye during the explanation, wondering how she knew all this. “Genkai believes that he still has much to learn. But still, at least he managed to do the technique correctly.” Without needing to take his life to do so.
Koto lifted her microphone to her lips. “10! And with a knock out by ring-out; Team Urameshi takes their fourth win!” With that being said, she relaxed her tensed shoulders and loosened her hand on the cape. “Team Masho has only one fighter left to stop Team Urameshi’s rise to the top! Will the last fighter of Team Masho please step up to the ring?”
“You better not let us down like your teammates did!” “Yeah! Give us a kill!” “GIVE US HIS HEAD!” A few members of the crowd shouted as Yusuke’s next opponent entered the ring.
The last caped member, who had the red diamond on his cloak, ripped off his cape and threw it off to the side like the rag that it was. Underneath the dark clothe stood a man wearing a black outfit that covered completely over his arms and legs, not showing any skin. On his shoulders and knees were dark red plates that would serve him as some type of guard for those areas. Draped across his shoulders was a bright orange garment that hand loosely over his chest while a light brown one was wrapped tightly around his waste. His choppy black hair framed around the man’s pale face, making the smirk and his narrowed eyes to become more profound.
“Sorry to say Yusuke; but you’re going to die without ever laying a finger on me.” the man said with much confidence.
“WHAT?” Yusuke shouted, insulted.
Koto glanced between the two before deciding to start the fight. “Begin!”
“Alright! I’m kicking your ass on a principal…” Yusuke started, running at full speed toward his opponent but soon tripped over his own feet as he tried to slow down his assault with a woman’s voice objected.
“Stop this fight immediately!” commanded the voice from the speakers.
Kurama shifted uncomfortably. “They’re up to something!”
“Tournament Committee, please clarify; why have you interrupted this fight?” Koto asked looking up at the VIP seating for an answer as Yusuke stood up, rubbing his head.
“Yeah. More importantly; why did you make me look like a fool?” Yusuke muttered to himself mainly.
There was a slightly pause before the voice of the woman that most every fighter on Team Urameshi hated answered. “After reviewing the tape from the last fight. It’s been discovered that Koto delayed her 10 count significantly during Yusuke’s first ring out.”
“Since when do we pay attention to that?” the announcer whined.
“Therefore,” the voice continued. “With a complete and unanimous decision…”
“They tell me to delay.” Koto whispered confused.
“The fight between Yusuke and Jin as been ruled a double lose. And therefore Yusuke is ineligible to fight for the duration of the round.”
Kurama closed his eyes as the girl beside him sighed and grabbed his arm to continue her work. “You were right when you said that they’d pull something tricky.” He stated reopening his orbs to see his teammate nod.
“DAMN IT ALL!” Yusuke screamed, stomping his way back to his team’s side then running over to Kurama and the Masked Fighter. “How’s it coming?” Yusuke asked, unable to hide his irritation.
“I am almost done.” the girl said simply as she completely removed the Death Plant seed from within the red head’s body. She placed it on the floor beside her before putting her hand over his open wound to mend it as well.
Both Yusuke and Kurama stared at her, unsure on what to say to her determination to heal Kurama fully. “Please, don’t waste the rest of your energy on me to nurse such a minor cut.” Kurama insisted. “Save your energy for your battle.”
“None sense.” The girl stated in her usual monotone voices as finished up her work before grabbing hold of the seed next to her and standing up from her crouched position. “In truth, I do not think I could fight knowing that I was able to heal my injured teammate and did not do as such.” The Masked Fighter opened her palm to reveal the seed that was just recently pulled out from Kurama’s body. “Do you mind if I keep this?” she asked, looking down at the once injured teen.
“I don’t mind. It’s the least I could do for your help.” Kurama said with a small smile as he looked up at the girl, who pulled her hand back into her black curtain, realizing that her cape had spread farther apart than she wished.
The girl nodded and turned to walk up to the ring before jumping onto it. As she started her stride over towards her opponent, she took a quick, almost unnoticeable, glance at her announcer Koto for the first time. The demon girl wore bright pink shorts with a light yellow short-sleeved shirt that lay loosely on her shoulders. Hanging tight around her neck was a red bow that made her puffy, chin-length orange hair less conspicuous than her perky teal cat-like eyes. But what caught most people’s attention was the light orange animal ears with yellow tips that rested her head, the matching fluffy tail, and the three whiskers that stuck out on each of her cheeks; What caught the Masked Fighter’s was the odd smell of hers. She smelt like a cross-breed between both a fox and a cat.
“Hey.” she heard Yusuke say far behind her, obviously not talking to her for his tone was near a whisper. “Where’d Botan run off to?” She stopped in the center of the ring, across from her opponent and looked over her right shoulder to search the grounds near her team for missing the blue haired girl.
“Final fight and for the win; the Masked Fighter verses Risho!” Koto announced in excitement causing the caped fighter to turn back to face her adversary, who’s smirk only grew wider. “BEGIN!”
The Masked Fighter balled her fists at her side, waiting for Risho’s attack. Risho chuckled and opened his arms up slightly. “Wimps and children first.” he said, trying to insult the girl.
The girl’s sad eye gazed at her cocky opponent. “Forgive me, but I always have my opponent attack me first.” she explained simply causing Risho to think that his own insult was thrown right back at him.
“Why you little…” Risho started, swinging a fist a the Masked Fighter’s face only for her to disappear in a flash and show up next beside her adversary before kicking him in the stomach with far less than half of her strength, cutting off his sentence before he said his swear by sending him flying backwards.
“I am sorry, but I do not take kindly to such foul language.” she stated with monotone voices.
Risho clenched his teeth to form a small growl as he wiped away the trail of blood that ran down the corner of his lip with the back of his hand. He quickly stood on his feet before jumping backwards then landing in the grass outside the three foot platform. “Risho has purposely jumped out of the ring and onto the ground! What could he be thinking?” Koto confirmed to the audience.
The ninja balled one of his fists into the other while pointing his index finger pointed straight towards the sky. “Each Shinobi is a master of some skilled art.” he said. “Weren’t you wondering what mine would be?”
As he said such words, the earth began to shake beneath everyone’s feet causing those who were unprepared to lose their balance, which did not include the Masked Fighter. Risho’s energy was soon released into the air causing the rocks and lose dirt to levitate off the ground and spin around its controller’s body. “I’m the Master of Earth! And it makes for excellent armor!” While he explained, the soil pulled in closer towards his body and engulfed him in a brown muck. “Armor of Clay!” he called out, emerging from the balled up dirt to show off his new form of protection.
Brown armor was wrapped tightly around his entire figure, not including his knees, elbows, and fists that were the only things that remained uncovered besides his face for easy movement. Small, yet sharp, spicks popped out of the armor and on his hard same colored helmet. “In addition to protection, this armor turns my whole body into a weapon.”
Risho jumped high into the air once more, this time a red energy surrounded his body as he dived at the Masked Fighter in a rapid speed. “Meteor!” he cried as he neared the girl. At the last second, the Masked Fighter bounded back and dodged the speedy blow. When she looked back to where Risho had landed, a small creator was formed that held the Earth Master in the center. Risho stood up from his crouched position and crossed his arms overconfidently with a small chuckle.
The Masked Fighter glared at his cocky stance and prepared to move her arms into her own defensive pose until she heard Kuwabara scream out. She quickly turned around to check on her teammate’s condition in worry, but soon realized that the cry was only out of excitement and joy. “Yukina, my love!” he shouted from the barrier surrounded tent, staring across the stadium to a group of four girls standing in the audience with a large grin. The Masked Fighter glanced over at the group, recognizing Botan’s blue hair in an instant.
She swiftly turned back to Risho when she heard an evil cackle exit his lips. “I see, so those girls mean allot to your team.” he commented, the red energy swirling around him once more. “Well, this’ll be interesting!” Risho ran toward the group then leapt up into the air.
“Meteor!”
The Masked Fighter was in front of the girls in a blink of an eye. “WATCH OUT!”
