Thievish (Yu Yu Hakusho)
Chapter 6 : Thievish (Yu Yu Hakusho) 5
You woke up at 6:30, it was natural for you, although you didn’t enjoy it. You thought about last night. At around 2 in the morning, you woke up to go out and steal things. You turned into your demon form because you couldn’t stand being in your human one, and jumped out of the window with ease. You walked to the front yard, saw Hiei there and freaked out a bit.
“What the hell are you doing out?” You whispered to him.
“That’s what I should be asking you. Koenma told me to keep an eye on you.”
“Why should you care, I’m going out to steal some paint, my walls are too white for me.”
“That’s it?” He questioned, it seemed like he knew something.
“Well, I was gonna get some clothes to fit in with the idiot humans I guess.” You replied.
“Don’t take long,” He told you, “And get me some black paint while you’re at it.”
“Why?” You questioned. He twitched a bit. “My walls are pink.” He grunted and walked back towards the house. “Poor guy.” You thought to yourself and went on your way. You got back with black paint for him, a little red and black paint for you and some clothes for you. You jumped back into your window and placed his paint outside of his door. Using your speed, you painted the wall opposite your window bright red and the left wall black and left the other two walls white.
You sat for another half an hour in your bed, looking up at the ceiling. You really didn’t feel like getting up but you did anyway. Moseying over to your closet you pulled out one of those uniforms. You noticed it was kind of small but didn’t care, the only thing that bothered you was that it didn’t close completely over your breasts, allowing everyone to see a bit of your cleavage. You gave up trying to cover up, grabbed the backpack Koenma supplied and walked downstairs. As you walked into the kitchen, Yusuke and Kuwabara were both devouring their cereal.
“Hah nice tits, Mai.” Yusuke managed to spit out in between bits. You hit him over the head causing him to choke a bit on his cereal. You got some cereal and found another carton of milk and drowned your grains with the magical substance.
You, Kurama, Yusuke and Kuwabara left the house, leaving Hiei behind. You asked them why he didn’t have to come, and they told you he’d probably end up amputating half the school so you left it at that. Once you arrived at the school, you saw a ton of annoy school girls running around with their other friends. You weren’t really a fan of girls, but you liked hanging out with guys. “Your cousin,” Kurama, who you know had to refer to as Shuichi, was quite popular with all the girls. Yusuke and Kuwabara on the other hand, immediately got death threats from some other punks. You just ignored everyone and went to your first class.
You had never been to school before, but you knew an awful lot about, well everything. In your spare time you liked stealing books and you would read about anything. Reading came naturally too you, it was strange because no one ever taught you. Your teachers were surprised with your knowledge and you did really well in your first couple of classes. All of the girls shunned you since you knew more than they did, and all of the guys started pestering you. By the end of the day you decided that school was extremely annoying. Most of the teachers had no idea what they were talking about, the girls had really high-pitched annoying voices, and all of the guys started hitting on you. Walking home, you told the guys that you didn’t like this whole school nonsense, and asked them if you could stop going.
“Unfortunately, it is our mission, school isn’t so bad.” Kurama told you.
“That’s bull, Kurama, school is whack and you know it. You know Mai; you could just not go to class.” Yusuke said, stuffing his hands into his pockets.
“Good idea.” You responded.
You got home, threw your bag on the floor and just hung out with the guys for a while. At dinner Kurama asked if anyone had felt any strange presences at school, and it reminded you of the mission. You wanted to finish this mission as soon as possible and just go back home. You missed robbing raids and you missed the forest, but you didn’t tell anyone about it.
“Mai, did you feel like anyone was interested in you today?” Kurama inquired.
“Hah, besides all the men in my class? Not really, and hopefully it’ll stay that way.” You said.
“Your job in the mission is being a whore.” Yusuke grinned. “You could do a better job.”
“Oh yeah? Wanna give me some advice then, princess?” You looked at Yusuke.
“I’ll pass.” He said stuffing more food into his mouth.
“I’ll try harder at being a slut then, but I really don’t wanna mess with this guy.”
“Don’t worry about it short stuff! We’ll have your back.” Kuwabara said with a big smile on his face. You didn’t enjoy the nickname he gave you, but it was true, you were really short. After dinner, everyone went back into their rooms. You and Hiei walked up the stairs again. He was so quiet and secretive, a real mystery. You wanted to get to know him better but you didn’t want to intrude on his life. You were still a little curious about how he figured out you didn’t know how to work the shower but you decided to ask him about it later.
“How was the paint?” You asked him once upstairs.
“Good.” He replied.
You then ran out of things to say, and walked into your room.
The next morning, you decided to change your outfit a bit. Instead of trying to close the last button of your blouse, you willingly left it open, allowed everyone to see the toppish part of breasts, your black bra straps and your collarbones. You curled up your skirt once, so instead of it ending at your knee, it stopped mid thigh. You left down your wavy, waist length hair, instead of tying it up in a bun. You put on some dark eyeliner to make your eyes pop a bit and some blush on your extremely white cheeks. You had to put on your boots, since you had no other shoes but you thought it gave you some edge, and hopefully would intimidate some people. You didn’t wanna be too easy.
Princess boy approved of your outfit and said it would definitely get you more attention. You didn’t seem too thrilled about it. First period was just as whack as it was yesterday, so you figured second would be just as boring. As the classes changed, you went outside because you really did not want to have to put up with any more prepubescent boys gawking at you. To your surprise, you found Yusuke and Kuwabara walking around. You walked up to them.
“Shouldn’t you two be in class?” You said walking right in between them.
“Oh yeah of course. Thanks for reminding me mom.” Yusuke ran his hands through his slick black hair. You three walked around the entire school and they told you stories about their old fights and their old rivalry. You thought it was pretty funny how they ended up being best friends.
“Aww, now what’s a pretty girl like you doin’ hanging out with these two hoodlums.” A tall, muscular guy in another group of sketchy kids walked up to you.
“What’s an ugly ass guy like you doing talking to a girl like me?” You retorted.
“Whoa, feisty,” he grinned. “You’d be much better off with me.” He tried to grab you by the waist but you just pushed him off.
“Leave her alone, she’s with us.” Yusuke grunted at the guy.
“Not anymore, I get what I want, and right now I want her.” He grabbed your left wrist, which made your still a bit sensitive shoulder throb a bit but you ignored it.
“Yeah? And right now I want you to shut the fuck up.” And with that, your right knuckle made contact with his face. He let go of your arm and went flying back into his group of buddies. After a minute, he stood up and cracked his knuckles. His lip was bloody.
“I don’t think I’ve ever met a girl who could punch so hard.” He said wiping his mouth. “I should tell our leader about you, he likes them rough.” The guy turned around and walked away with his gang,
“Are you alright?” Kuwabara asked you.
“Yeah, I’m feeling a hell of a lot better now. But what the hell was that last line supposed to mean?” You said scratching your head.
“No idea, but that was a pretty good hit … for a girl.” Yusuke snickered. You punched him in the shoulder.
“I remember a night when I punched you into a wall.” You told him. He got quiet for a minute.
“Well at least I didn’t get stabbed in the shoulder.” He said, pointing towards the large scar on your shoulder.
“Shit happens…” You said quietly, still upset by the fact that you couldn’t beat Hiei. He was quite the match. You never went back to class, you just walked around with the boys and they continued telling you stories about their glory days at school.
