Chapter 1 : The Heart Of Evil.:.1.:.The Good Guy Doesn't Always Get The Girl
"If there is magic on this planet, it is contained in water."
Loran Eisley (Anthropologist), The Immense Journey, 1957
the oceans shallow water rippled and swirled, absorbing the young couple that lay in its gentle embrace.
His hands supported the woman as he kneeled behind her, whispering words of comfort to ease her nerves. Sweat beaded upon her head as her breathing quickened and sobs burst from her throat strangled and raw.
" Relax" The man cooed stroking his hand through the wet brown locks of his wife, before returning to his own in a nervous action.
" I know" The woman wheezed as discomfort began to swell through her stomach.
The water continued to swirl and ripple, now supporting the woman as her pain began to intensify.
The deserted beach echoed with a woman's screams, soon to be joined with the lively cries of a newborn baby.
The water continued to swirl and ripple seemingly oblivious to the miracle that occurred within its depths.
Seemingly oblivious...
" My isn't she simply adorable”A fairly plump woman squealed in delight peering at the baby girl that sat comfortably against her mothers chest, watching the gathering of people around her calmly.
" She is rather sedate, is that normal?" An abnormally slender woman question gazing at the now giggling child.
" Well me and Peter sure aren't complaining" Lillian the babies mother jested as she swept her eyes over her daughter.
" Hmm, well best hope the others are like that" The woman stated as she cast a quick glance towards a stunned Peter, his wide brown eyes a give away.
"Yes, well" Peter cleared his throat and shuffled away in an orderly fashion, much to the amusement of the three women.
" Quite a catch that one" The slender woman smirked before returning her eyes to a scowling Lillian.
" Selene" The plump woman hinted towards the slender one.
" Oh don't fret" Selene gently waved her hand, whilst Lillian began to grit her teeth, she loathed that woman.
The plump woman stepped quickly between the women interrupting their staring match.
" I'm Ethel, and what is your name little one?"
Lillian smiled softly and handed her daughter gently towards Ethel.
" Her name is Maxine"
Ethel smiled lightly as she nursed Maxine,
"My, my little one what brilliant blue eyes you have...you could put the sky to shame"
" Your right Ethel,is that where you stuffed the sapphires-i have never seen a blue like that before”Selene muttered glancing into Maxine's eyes herself.
Peter returned a chuckled lightly at the mesmerized women. " I'm not sure how she got her hands on them, but they sure now how to hold your gaze."
The group laughed and continued to do so throughout the remainder of the night.
