Twisted Tales [Death Note] 1- Unlucky
Chapter 6 : Twisted Tales [Death Note] 6- Departure
:] woot, I managed to make one out of four today, isn't it just amazing? ... You better say it's amazing. D:
--2 years later, you're 11, Mello's 14, Matt's 13, Ella's 9, Near's 13--
You didn't want to believe it. No, you refused to believe it. L was dead. You had looked up to him all your life and you never even met him, but you still felt somewhat depressed. You awaitedfor old man Wammy to walk through the door. He never did. You hadn't seen Mello or Matt all day, and you were on your way to see Near, eyes stinging more than ever before, Ella didn't bother to comfort you, she was talking with her friend. Nobody ever did try to comfort you, so it never made any difference. You wished you had Echo to hug and tell all your feelings to, but you didn't have her. Your hand was clutching the collar of your shirt as a replacement for her. Slowly, you opened the door to the toy room watching Near finishing a puzzle. "Near, where are Mello and Matt?" "They left." "WHAT?!!" "Mello said he would live life his own way. Matt followed him out. I'm leaving soon too. Roger said he was helping me with my own investigation team, the SPK. I'm starting it next week after my 14th birthday, if you'd like to join me and the other members. We'll start working on the Kira case right away."
You just kept shaking, your knees giving out on you as you hit the white carpeted floor. "They just left me here... they didn't even say goodbye... those... those.... ughh!!!!" You scrambled back to your feet and leaned on the wall to your left for support. "I'll join you Near. I'll join the SPK, for L and Quillish, I'll help you with the Kira case." He simply nodded and watched the pieces from the puzzle he held upside-down slowly fall to the floor and started all over again. You clenched your hands into fists and walked out, shutting the door behind you a little louder than expected. As soon as you got into your room and locked the door, you grabbed your head and screamed. Everything was changing so fast, everything was going downhill and everyone you care about is starting to fade further and further away from you.
You didn't have Mello, you didn't have Matt, you didn't have your family, you didn't have Echo, you didn't have Quillish, you didn't have the same rolemodel you used to have(his shoes were filledby some kind of successor or a replacement), you were starting to become enemies with Ella, the only person you had left was Near and he wasn't the kind of person who completely understood emotional breakdowns like this. You were in a big empty black box of nothingness where you were all alone and scared, the only small item that brought you to reality was the letter from your parents that layed on the desk near your bed. The last thing that could possibly keep you sane and keep you from going completely unemotional and numb. There was an irritating empty feeling that wouldn't subside.
You sat down in the far corner of your bed curled up in a small shakey ball of confusion. Ella would walk in here soon and you didn't want her to blab away about pointless things or ask you questions or bother you, you might just punch her in the nose. Eventually, you drifted off to sleep, not caring if your head would ache once you woke up. Sleep was like a therapy to you. There were a couple images, and then darkness. A few fleeting moments later, you woke up and looked at the digital clock on the desk, eyes squinting from darkness. It was 3 AM and Ella was sleeping on a lumpy mattress with a box pulled to her chest. You slowly peaked over the bed and read the black letters on the front. 'Blizzard's gift'. You smiled. Although she was annoying, didn't have many comforting skills, obnoxious and a bit bipolar, she still had at least a hint of kindness in her. At least she remembered today was your 12th birthday. Nobody else did, probably with all the drama going on with L, Quillish, Mello, Matt, and Near.
You brushed your hand past the side of your bed and gently patted the box so that it would slip out of her hands and onto the floor. You grabbed it and opened it quietly. It was a purple cat with green eyes that said 'Blizzard' on the collar. It immitated your purple hair and green eyes, and it was beautiful. You felt awful that youhad never gotten her a present on her birthday lastmonth. You decided to slip out of Wammy's and over to the toy store that you had sneaked out to when itwas Near's 13th birthday.Mello had shown you how to sneak out.8 AM would have to be the best time to sneak out. It was when the store opened up, and everyone at Wammy's is scheduled to wake up at 9:30 AM.
-8 AM-
Everyone was still asleep. Good. You quickly tip toed to the front door and opened it justenough for you to fit through, and then quickly started to run to the toy store. It took at least 25 minutes for you to walk there. You still had an hour and 5 minutes. You searched around the store for about 50 minutes and saw a pink cat with pink eyes and a pearl collar with a small place toput a name. You ran to the counter in the front and bought it, luckily dodging the question as to why such a young girl was there alone. It was a female teenager, so you figured you'd get away with it. Once you were around the corner, you took out a pen and wrote in very neat script 'Ella' on the collar and put the pen back in your pocket. You had just realized that it was starting to rain, so you had to hurry back or people would wake up finding you soaking wet. It was 9:18, you only had 12 minutes to walk back to Wammy's without anyone noticing. You started to run, but tripped and scratched your knee. "Oww... it stings..." Your knee started to severely bleed, and your heart was beating rapidly out of your control. You started seeing dark/dim spots around your vision, and soon blacked out, hearing a thump and a small crack, but not feeling any pain.
