I sat on the park bench and watched my brand new puppy run around in the grass. Paris is such a dog friendly place, I love it here. Ellie was her name, she was a rat terrier she may be small but she had a big attitude. I guess that’s why I love her so much.

Ellie stopped playing and crouched low to the ground, she had her teeth bared and she was lightly growling. I looked over to see a black Labrador running over. I didn’t have time to run up and get my puppy, by the time I was raised from my seat the dog was right by Ellie. The dark animal didn’t seem vicious; he just stuck his butt up in the air and wagged his tail, as if he thought Ellie’s defense was some sort of game.

“SCOTTY!” I heard a male voice call. I watched as a dark haired boy ran up.

“I am so sorry, he just loves puppies” The boy said as he took a hold of Scotties red collar.

“Oh it’s okay, she loves attention” I said as I picked Ellie up from the ground.

He smiled at me, his teeth were perfectly white and his eyes sparkled.

“I’m Bill” He said stretching out his free hand.

I switched Ellie into one arm and shook his hand.

“Kayla” I said “Nice to meet you”

He had a thick German accent which was a hint that he wasn’t French at all. Well I shouldn’t be talking, I’m American and I don’t have much of a French accent either.

“You’re not from around here are you?” I asked him trying to make a friendly conversation.

“No, but you’re not so French either” He said as he raised an eyebrow.

I laughed.

“Touché” I shrugged my shoulders.

“Do you live here in Paris?” He asked sitting on the park bench behind me.

“Yeah” I said sitting down beside him and letting Ellie go “You?”

He let Scotty go to play with Ellie.

“No, I’m just in town for a little while for work” He said leaning back in the wooden bench. “I wouldn’t be able to speak French every day” He said with a laugh.

I chuckled softly. “What do you do?” I asked curiously.

“I’m a musician” he said with a proud look on his face.

“Oh really? Are you in a band?” I asked very intrigued.

“Yup, Tokio Hotel” He said lifting his chin.

“I’m sorry...but I have no clue who Tokio Hotel is” I said with a smile.

He looked at me in shock. “You’re kidding”

“Sorry, no” I said biting my lip.

“Wow, you really aren’t from around here, no offence”

“None taken”

I kept speaking with Bill for another 45 minutes, where did the time fly? We talked about everything, our careers, our favorite bands, and our family. He is really a cool guy, especially since he is in such a successful band! I couldn’t believe girls would kill to just touch him. During our talk about 50 girls came up asking for his autograph and shooting me glares. Figures.

I was walking back to my small apartment on 7th street.

“KAYLA!”

I turned around to see Bill running at me with Scotty at his side. He stopped in front of my and bend over to catch his breath.

“S-sorry” He said in between gasps.

I laughed.

“Woul-would you” He took in another breath and looked up at me. “There is a party I’m suppose to go to, and- “He took in another breath “I was hoping you would go with me” He said, his dark brown eyes sparkled.

“I would love to” I said keeping eye contact.

“Really?” He stood up, still breathing heavily.

“Great, um…I can pick you up at 8…it’s tonight…um oh and its formal” He said sort of surprised I agreed.

I took his hand a ripped a pen out of my pocket and wrote my address on his palm. He looked at it and smiled.

“Right by the Eiffel tower” he said.

“Yeah”

“Great, I’ll pick you up at 8”

I flashed him a smile and turned away and walked home.

Later

I was pacing around my room, pulling my hair, and mumbling under my breath.

“He said formal” I whispered. I looked into my closet; there was one dress that I swore I would never ever wear. It was white with black trim, but it was nowhere near my emo-Goth style. I took in a deep breath and took the thin dress off of its hanger. I walked up to my full length mirror and held it up to my body. It complemented by skin tone and would hang off of my curvy body…but it just wasn’t ‘me’.

I slipped out of my clothes and into the dress. I sighed as I looked at myself in the mirror, I looked great but I didn’t feel like it. I walked into my bathroom and washed my face, taking off the thick eyeliner. I re-did my make-up. It was a simple smoky eye: it went from silver to black, and I have to say it looked pretty good. I put on simple eyeliner and some lip gloss and walked out of the bathroom. I slipped on my black heels and took one more glance in the mirror, I looked like a model…freaking fantastic. I glanced at the clock: 7:59.

“Wow, right on time” I said to myself.

I turned around to Ellie.

“What do you think” I asked spinning around.

She whined and dug deeper into my dark purple comforter.

“Jee thanks” I said sarcastically as I walked out of my fully black room.

I jumped as I heard someone knock on the door. I put on a confident face and opened up the door. Bill looked me up and down and smiled. He was wearing a simple pin-stripe suit.

“We’ll match” he said, his smile widening.

I smiled back and locked arms with him.

Party

Bill and I were bored out of our minds! We had gone through the screaming fans and the crazy paparazzi, and all of the fellow musicians asking us if we were ‘together’. I stood by Bill’s side like a good little date and politely chatted with his manager. He was a nice guy, but I wanted to get out of there.

Bill took my hand and said goodbye to his manager. He started to lead me towards the door.

“Where are we going?” I asked.

“This is boring” He said “Sorry”

“Don’t be, I agree”

He laughed “Let’s just walk around.”

“Okay”

We walked, still hand in hand, down the empty streets of Paris. How beautiful it was at night. We walked up to a fountain that was lit up in the dark, I sat on the edge and he stood in front of me staring at the water shooting out from the top.

“Kayla?” He whispered.

“I looked up at his beautiful presence “Yeah”

“Do you believe it when they say that Paris is the city of love?” He was still staring at the fountain.

“Of course” I said immediately.

He looked down at me, the water reflected on his face making his eyes shine.

“Do you think they mean that it is easier to fall in love, or that you will fall in love when you’re here?” He asked.

“What do you mean?” I asked.

“I don’t know” He said smiling “I was just wondering”

“Well, what do you think?” I asked him curiously.

“I think that…I did fall in love” He said, I could see a hint of redness in his cheeks.

“Like love at first sight” I said standing up.

“Exactly” He whispered.

We were inches apart, and that space vanished second by second. His lips brushed against mine; I got goose-bumps along my arms and legs. Our lips made full contact, I wrapped by arms around his neck. He placed a hand on my boney hip and another on my cheek. There was no space between us; I could feel the warmth of his body and the beating of his heart, we just met but this felt so right. We pulled away. We stared into each other’s dark eyes. He smiled and removed a strand of my black and blood red hair and kissed me again. The cold steel of his tongue piercing brushed against my own, my fingers were entwined in his long black hair and his arms were both wrapped around my middle tightly.

Paris, the city of love: the reason why I met him, the one true love of my life.
