You stared at him for a few seconds then continued walking. “What makes you think I wouldn’t’ve gone with you?” you asked, feeling slightly awkward.
“I dunno, you seem kinda hooked up on Draco.”
“Trust me, I’m not,” you said, almost convincing yourself.
“You sure?”
“Yup. Positive.”
“Well I wish I had known that before.”
“There’s always the end-of-year dance.”
“That’s two months away!”
“Well, that’s what you get for not taking chances.”
He laughed. “I guess so.”
It was only about forty degrees outside but you shivered anyway despite your heavy jacket. Blaise seemed to notice this and kept his arm wrapped around you for the rest of your walk. When you finally arrived back at the Common Room, you said goodbye and started back for your dorm.
“Alexis,” Blaise called after you.
You turned around.
“Do you have plans for Saturday?”
“I do now. What time?”
“10:30 down here.”
You smiled and nodded. “It’s a date.”
“Oh my gosh! Remember when Pansy…did that!” Bri snorted.
“And when Millicent…! I still can’t believe that!”
“Oh yeah!” Rachael laughed with her.
“What did those two idiots do?” you asked.
“They were on the dance floor,” Bri began, “and – hey! Why are you in such a good mood? Usually you would kill us if we woke you up at” – she looked at the clock – “two a.m.”
“I wasn’t sleeping.”
“Oh? And why not?”
You shrugged. “Wasn’t tired.”
“Oh, BS!” Rachael said. “I’ve known you since we were in diapers and I can tell when you’re lying.”
“I was thinking,” you admitted.
“About?”
“Saturday.”
“What’s so special about Saturday?”
You grinned. “Blaise and I are going to Hogsmeade.”
“Ahh.” They didn’t seem surprised in the least. “When did you figure out that he likes you?”
“About…four and a half hours ago.”
Rachael smiled amusedly. “We’ve known for weeks.”
A week later, you, Brianna, and Rachael were just about to leave for dinner when you heard a tapping on the window. You let in one of the school’s small brown barn owls that you recognized as the one Blaise usually used.
Alexis,
Meet me in the Astronomy tower at 6:30.
“Blaise wants me to meet him now,” you said. “Save me a seat at dinner.”
BLAISE’S POV
“Standing up your girlfriend, are you?” Rachael asked, sitting down across from you.
“What do you mean?” you asked.
“You know, the meeting.”
“Um no, I don’t know the meeting.” You gave her a blank stare.
“She said you wanted to meet her in the Astronomy tower now and that she’d be late for dinner.”
“I didn’t tell her that. Be right back.” You got up and made your way to the tower with a million thoughts running through your mind. When you got there, you saw something that you had considered but thought impossible and pushed to the back of your mind: Alexis kissing Draco.
