“Crème puffs,” you said harshly, and the portrait swung out of your way, granting you entrance into the Slytherin common room.

Draco jumped up from the couch when you stepped in. “And just where have you been?” he inquired, blocking your way any further into the room.

“Out,” you replied simply, attempting to sidestep him.

He was just as quick in blocking you. “Yes I see that, where?”

You heaved a deep sigh. “Hogsmeade, not that it’s any of your business.” You tried again to get past.

“You told me you couldn’t go to Hogsmeade this weekend,” he said, blocking your way again.

“No, I told you I couldn’t go with you. Girls’ day out, remember?”

“How come I didn’t see you?”

“I dunno, maybe you were a little preoccupied. Now can I please get past?”

“Maybe I was. I had to meet my cousin there.” He ignored the last part of your statement.

“You what?”

“Met my cousin. We’re pretty close. I haven’t talked to her in a while though.”

“Oh.” You felt stupid. “How was that?”

“Fine.” Draco eyed you suspiciously. “How was your day?”

“Good. I told Brianna and Rachael I’d meet them upstairs.”

He grabbed your arm as you walked past him. “Wait, Alexis, is there something wrong?”

“No,” you shook your head and hurried up the stairs. “I’ll see you later.”

“It was his cousin.”

“What?”

“That blonde girl was Draco’s cousin.”

“Are you sure he wasn’t lying?” Brianna asked.

“I didn’t even mention any girl. He said it all on his own.”

“Maybe he’s just good at lying.” Rachael accused. “I wouldn’t put it past him.”

“Which one, lying or cheating?”

“Both.”

“Have you two ever thought that just maybe he was telling the truth? That maybe he’s not as bad a guy as you think he is?”

“Who wants to play poker?” Brianna asked cheerfully, avoiding eye contact.

An hour later, you had quite the lead in chips. Steve interrupted with a letter. You opened it and read it carefully.

Lexi,

Meet me in the common room at midnight.

Draco

You folded it up and put it in your pocket, unable to ignore the curious looks from your friends. “It’s from Draco.”

“Did he confess?” Rachael asked, only half joking.

“Alright, give me two.” Brianna placed two cards face down on the bed and slid them to you.

Draco was already there relaxing in an overstuffed arm chair when you stepped into the Common Room. He stood up and gave you a long, passionate kiss, his hands exploring your back and sides. You pulled away. “This isn’t why you asked me down here, is it?” you asked.

He grinned. “Not exactly.” He took your hand and led you down a hallway you had never been down before and paced in front of the wall between two doors.

“Draco, what – ” you gasped as a door appeared.

“C’mon,” he whispered in your hair. You stepped inside and saw a huge bed with white sheets covered with rose petals.

“Draco…” your voice drifted off as his soft lips touched yours. They slid down onto your neck as his hands slid up the back of your shirt and unhooked your bra. “Draco…” you said again softly, pulling away.

“What?” he asked, concerned.

“Stop,” you pleaded.

“But Alexis, I love you.” You melted as his lips met yours again. He removed his shirt and backed you slowly toward the bed. His perfectly firm body slid you onto it and you could feel both your hearts racing.

“Draco, stop!” you said again, pushing him off you. You started for the door.

“Alexis!” He grabbed your arm.

“Draco, I can’t do this! Let me go!” You felt tears about to emerge.

“Why not?”

“Because I’m not ready!”

He kissed you again but you pushed him away. “Stop! I don’t want to be another girl you’ll just fuck and dump!”

“So that’s what you think this is? Just a one-time shag?”

You wiped your eyes and said nothing.

“Lexi, no. This is different. I swear. I love you.”

“No you don’t! Stop saying that and leave me alone!” you yelled. “You never loved me or anyone else!” Suddenly your face burned and you realized Draco had slapped you.

“Go to hell,” he hissed as he shoved you against the wall.

You watched wordlessly as he turned around and walked out of the room. “Draco…” you whispered into the empty air. The tears were flowing freely now and you just stood there against the wall and let them.
