-Existing for You: A Draco Malfoy Story-
Chapter 1 : -Existing for You: A Draco Malfoy Story-
-Chapter 1: The Attempt-
“I can’t take it anymore!” you yelled in the girls’ dorm room first thing in the morning after waking up, Hermione was the only other person in the room at the time, the others were all in the common room. “I just can’t!”
“______ just spilt it out already!” Hermione yelled back at you as she was startled from combing her bushy, brown hair. She turned away from the mirror and stared at you with her arms crossed over her chest.
“Hermione, I can’t do this anymore, I like him,” you yelled back at her as you threw off your covers, walked over to her and shook her shoulders violently. “I REALLY like him.”
“You mean Harry?” Hermione asked as she too grabbed your shoulders and shook you violently in return as she questioned you. “You LIKE Harry?”
“Yes, I do, I like him,” you replied as your voice dropped and you too dropped onto your bed and just sat there staring at Hermione. “You knew?”
“Course I did, pretty obvious really,” Hermione replied as she faced back towards the mirror and resumed brushing her hair.
“Do you think Harry knows about it?” you asked her innocently as you rummaged around in your trunk, looking for your school robes. “You know, about the crush.”
“No, I don’t think Harry’s noticed just yet, but I’m pretty sure that he likes you back,” Hermione replied as you stood back up and changed into your school robes.
“He doesn’t?” you asked bewilderedly. “I thought you said it was pretty obvious?!”
“Well, to me it is,” Hermione replied. “Anyway, I’m pretty sure he likes you back.”
“How can you say that?” you asked her as you grabbed your schoolbag from your bedside and rummaged inside of it.
“Well, I know on the count that he can’t speak freely around you, when your around he always seems so tongue-tied and he acts like a total dork around you, haven’t you noticed?” Hermione asked back as she whirled around and sat next to you on your bed.
“So that was what was up when he started indulging me into a conversation about spoons,” you sighed heavily as you pulled out your wand and stuffed it down your pocket.
“He talked to you about SPOONS?” Hermione laughed as she wrapped her arms around her stomach tightly, laughing like she was about to die from laughter.
“Yes, anyway, should I tell him? You know, confess my undying love for him?” you asked Hermione.
“Yeah, I totally think so, follow your heart!” Hermione replied as she urged you to write Harry a letter saying how much you like him, she shoved a couple rolls of parchment into your arms as she grabbed her quill and inkwell off her bedside table. “Write him a letter, it will feel more romantic!”
“Fine, how should I start this?” you replied as you bent over and held the quill a good two inches from the parchment. You tapped the quill against your lips and an idea flew straight into your head, you bent down again and started scribbling feverishly on the parchment.
Harry,
I know that this may sound a little too awkward, but then I just wanted to let
You know, that I like you. I like you a lot. A whole lot.
You are the first guy that I have ever liked, after being friends with you, I finally realized these feelings, that I only have feelings for you.
I hope that you feel the same way, but then if you don’t its okay too, I just hope that we can both stay friends no matter what. Anyway, just wanted to let you know that there is at least one other person aside from Hermione and Ron that believes in you.
Sincerely,
______
“How’s that? Is that good enough?” you asked Hermione as you pushed the parchment into her hand, smirking excitedly.
Hermione’s eyes flickered and of they went reading through each word you had written on the parchment.
“Well?” you asked impatiently.
“Well, I thought it was really nice, but there’s one thing I’d like to ask you, are you sure you’re ready to confess?” Hermione asked worriedly as she folded up the parchment and pushed it onto the palm of your hand. “Could you really do this?”
“I don’t know can I actually do this?” you asked back out of doubt as you stuffed the letter down into the bottom of your schoolbag.
-After two days: Monday-
You were in History of Magic Class with Harry, Hermione and Ron, you were sitting in the seat between Harry and Ron, you were trying to focus on the lecture, but sadly you couldn’t. After a few minutes into Professor Binns’s discussion, you eventually fell asleep with your jaw rested on your arm; you were drifting off into the daydream express.
“Harry,” you said softly in your dream, you were in a field of flowers with Harry, just the two of you.
“______,” Harry replied, smiling.
“I just wanted to let you know that, you’re the first guy I’ve ever liked,” you replied, blushing nervously. “I like you, Harry; I like you a whole lot.”
“Wow, ______, I would’ve never expected you to come out with this,” Harry struggled for words as he too blushed a livid red. “I thought that I was supposed to be the one to tell you, and I know that even before you’ve liked me, I’ve liked you already.”
“Really?” you asked him in disbelief.
“______, would you want to be my girlfriend?” Harry asked as he shoved his fists into his pockets and blushed even more.
You didn’t reply but you just hugged him and he hugged back, you were feeling like you were up on cloud nine until Professor Binns slammed your History of Magic Book loudly on your desk.
“Ms. ________, is this class a little too boring for you?” Professor Binns shouted as you came back to your senses and shook your head no. You glanced to your side and saw Harry, smiling at you, you smiled back at him nervously and Professor Binns just let you off with a warning.
The bell rang, and the class had ended, you and Hermione were both still in the classroom, shoving stuff into your schoolbags.
“So, did you dream about him again?” Hermione asked curiously as she leaned over Ron’s desk to look at you. “What did you dreamt you two were doing?”
“I dreamt that my confession was a success!” you yelled at Hermione excitedly as you swung your schoolbag over one shoulder and smirked.
“Maybe, it’s a sign, maybe you should just confess after lunch,” Hermione urged as she shook you violently by the shoulders.
-Later: After Lunch-
“Are you sure I can do this?” you asked Hermione as she left you outside the Great Hall, your letter clutched tightly in your hand as she walked over behind a statue.
“Absolutely, you’ll do great,” she replied as she flashed you a thumbs up. “Now shut up, here he comes.”
Harry just exited the Great Hall, he was with Ron, you were really nervous and you doubted that you could actually do it, you were really nervous, your heart was beating to fast and you had difficulty in breathing, but no, you just had to tell him. You spun around with your letter clutched in your outstretched hand, your head lowered so that you were looking at your feet.
Harry who was busy listening to his I-pod and who was talking to Ron all the while, barely noticed and just walked past you.
“Harry, I really like you, please go out with me,” you muttered really quickly under your breath as he passed. You lifted your head up and realized that Harry had not noticed you, you still had your arm outstretched, you turned your head to look at the letter in your hands when suddenly Draco Malfoy appeared right in front of you, clutching the other end of the letter in his hand. Malfoy smirked at you as Hermione reappeared, poking her head out from behind the statue.
“I―I, got the wrong person, you―” you explained hastily as your hands were shaking and Malfoy’s grip on the letter tightened.
“______!” Hermione yelled and at that you ran for your life and you both ended back up at Gryffindor Tower, Malfoy who just stood there outside the Great Hall, had the letter clutched tightly in his hand, you had forgotten it.
“Normally, no one would actually confess to the wrong person,” Hermione muttered panting, through deep breaths as she dumped herself down on one of the armchairs closest to the portrait hole.
“I was just too nervous, that’s all, so I didn’t see clearly when I ran out of the Entrance Hall,” you replied shakily as you too dumped yourself on the armchair next to hers.
“So stupid!” Hermione exclaimed as she threw her hands up into the air. “And the person you mistaken for Harry just HAD to be Draco Malfoy! DRACO MALFOY!”
“I don’t care about that, Malfoy that git, he is so arrogant, and I don’t even care to get to know him better, even if he’s father is one of the school governors!” you exclaimed angrily as you pushed yourself back up to your feet.
“He supports You Know Who and with his father’s support he never gets in trouble but he gets everything that he wants, and even if he obviously is a bad student, girls are still crazy enough to be chasing after him and that is why in Slytherin they nicknamed him: “The Prince of Seduction,” Hermione added as she too pushed herself off of her seat. You dropped back on to your seat looking really hopeless.
You twitched uncontrollably and slammed your head against one of your books. “And to think that I just had to mess up in front of that git, this I so unlucky.”
“Anyway it’s ok, at least you can tell Harry some other time,” Hermione said as she tried to console you, as you continued to bang your head with a book.
You just sighed and nodded, then suddenly, you remembered something, your eyes widened and you had lifted your head fully away from the book, “My Letter!”
“How should I know?” Hermione replied icily as she crossed both her arms over her chest.
“I LOST IT!” You yelled in a girly scream of terror as you buried your face in your hands.
“What should I do? I lost the letter, if anyone found out, it had mine and Harry’s name written all over it,” you thought to yourself furiously as you ran down into the corridor and back down into the entrance hall to look for it but it wasn’t there, anymore.
“Maybe the wind blew it into the grounds or something,” your conscience replied as you smiled to yourself and ran out onto the grounds, looking around furiously for the letter. Just as you arrived outside, Harry was there too, he had just gotten out of Hagrid’s cabin; he walked over to you and smiled.
“______, d-did y-you l-lose s-something?” Harry asked as you bent down to look for the letter more closely.
“Yeah, I lost something,” you replied, not even lifting your head up to look at him.
“W-what a-are y-you l-looking f-for?” Harry asked as he too bent down and continued to smile. “M-maybe I-I c-can h-help y-you l-look f-for I-it.”
“A letter, I’m looking for a letter,” you replied, you stared up at whoever it was that was trying to help you and realized that it was Harry, you stood back up to fullest height and smirked at him. “I meant my lucky charm, yes, yes, I was looking for my lucky charm.”
“Could I possibly be more idiotic?” you thought to yourself as Harry smiled at you and bent down to look for your lucky charm.
“Hey, at least he is helping you and NOT making fun of you.”
“Are you alright?” Harry asked worriedly, you looked down at him and smiled.
“Yes, yes, I’m perfectly fine,” you replied as you too bent over and looked for your “lucky charm”.
You both stared at each other for a while, both still smiling, he crawled over to you, your heart started beating even faster, you could have sworn that he was just about to kiss you when suddenly, he dropped his gaze to your shoulder and just flicked off a caterpillar hanging from there.
“D-don’t b-be s-scared ______, t-there w-was a-a b-bug o-on y-your s-shoulder a-and I-I j-just f-flicked I-it a-away,” Harry stated happily as he smiled at you, your face flushed red, so red; it was like you were an exact replica of a tomato. “I-its g-getting d-dark, I-I’ll w-walk y-you t-to G-Gryffindor T-Tower.”
You both stood up and smiled at each other even more, both still flushing bright red. It then began to rain, you both laughed and ran back up to the castle together but little did you know that someone was watching and not just anybody, but Draco Malfoy, he stared intently at you and Harry until you were both out of sight.
When you arrived back at Gryffindor Tower, Hermione pulled you away from Harry and sat you down on the couch.
“So, ______ did you find the letter?” Hermione asked as she sat down on the couch as well.
“Oh no! I dint!” you replied as your mouth hung slightly open in shock.
“Don’t worry, we can look for it again tomorrow,” Hermione replied reassuringly as she placed a friendly hand on your shoulder.
“God, please just blow that letter away into Argentina!” you yelled in a hushed tone, you flung your fists back into the depths of your pockets and walked straight back up into your dorm.
-One Week Later: Christmas Break at your house-
“So, how’s life, Mom?” you asked your mom as you stepped out from the shower, still wrapped in a towel as you stared down at your mother, who was sitting at the dinner table, writing something.
“It’s been okay,” she replied, not even lifting her head to look at you.
“Been on any dates lately?” you asked jokingly as your mom stared up at you, looking all pale in the face.
“Actually, ______, yes, I have been on one,” she mumbled as she looked down at her feet, you stared at her and felt your cheeks burning.
“You? You’ve been dating while I was in Hogwarts? How could you do this to me, mom?” you yelled at her as you flailed your arms frantically around you, feeling your face go even redder by the minute. “I thought that we weren’t supposed to be keeping secrets from each other?!”
‘I cant help it okay, I fell in love with someone,” she replied as she stood up to her fullest height and you both stared at each other.
“So, you’re telling me that the big secret you were keeping from me was about you and some random guy going out?” you asked outraged.
“Yes, I lied to you and went out with someone,” she sighed heavily as you stared at her through piercing eyes.
“I would’ve never thought that you were dating, I was just kidding around before,” you yelled at her some more.
“I will never see him again!” she gasped as she put her hands to her mouth and shook her head no.
“Does this guy have a wife?” you asked her as you held out a finger shaking with anger in front of her. “Or are you the third person who has interfered with their marriage?”
“Dear no, he’s divorced,” she replied, shaking her head frantically.
“Are you sure? Where did you guys meet? How long have you been together?” you yelled even more as you mom sunk down into her seat again and you towered over her, your face still red with anger.
“We met when we bumped into each other at the King’s Cross Station, when I was dropping you off,” she stopped talking and seemed to have drifted off into dreaming, she laughed as you gave her a what-in-the-world? Look.
“What is that I see on your face?” you asked as you pushed your face closer to her, your noses half an inch apart. “After Dad passed away, I haven’t seen that expression in a long time.”
“I’m so sorry, I knew I should’ve told you before I got in this deep,” she mumbled as she again averted your gaze and looked at her feet.
“You should’ve found a good man for yourself ages ago,” you replied, smiling, your mom’s face lit up as she slowly lifted her head to look at you.
“Are you sure?” she asked. “Aren’t you mad?”
“If this guy really is as good as you say, why should I be against it? I say go for it,” you replied, smiling as you stood back up and smiled down at your mom.
“By the way ______, I forgot to tell you that, he’ll be arriving with his son in two minutes,” she mumbled as she bit her finger and looked up at you nervously.
“What?” you asked her out of doubt through doubtful eyes.
And at that the doorbell just rang and the house elf went to get it, he opened the door and in came Draco Malfoy and his father, Lucius Malfoy. They both stepped into the kitchen where you and you’re mom were talking and you let out a shrill scream of girly terror as you saw Draco Malfoy smirk at you, realizing that he had just seen you wearing only a towel.
