I woke up, feeling totally out of it, my black and purple hair falling in front of my face as I got out of bed. I dug around in my closet and pulled out my favorite Dir en grey t-shirt and a pair of skinny jeans. Being only half awake, I stumbled to the washroom… also tripping on the corner of the door.
Kira: OUCH! Son of a….
Getting to the washroom was more of a pain today than any other day. I walked up to the mirror and studied my face, looking at all of my many piercings and small imperfections before putting my lip ring back in.
Kira: Time for another craptastically boring day… as usual…
By the time I got downstairs, my roommate, Haratsuki, was making breakfast.
Haratsuki: Ohayō gozaimasu Kira-chan! Dir en grey’s back in Tokyo today!! I was thinking of seeing them if they were going to be out and about.
Kira: Yeah, you do that….
Haratsuki: C’mon Kira!! You’re always so cold…. Why don’t you come shopping with me today? Lighten up a little… please?
Kira: *sigh* fine…
Haratsuki: YAY!
Happily, she handed me a small plate of French toast. Thankfully I’ve known Haratsuki for 10 years… since grade 3. She was only doing this for my own good. I quickly downed it, straightened my hair, and applied some eyeliner and mascara. The first place we headed to was Takashita Street. Haratsuki was saying something about Mana, but I wasn’t fully listening. I was watching all the pathetic girls hanging onto their “boyfriends” for dear life. It was almost disgusting how they acted like children.
Kira: Hara-chan, can we get out of here? I feel like I’m about to punch someone out….. Hara-chan?
Great… we’re separated from each other and I hate 90% of the people here. I didn’t know what else to do, so I went to an arcade. As I stepped into the dark space, I noticed a tall – very tall – man playing DDR with someone and three other people standing behind them. I continued staring at them TRYING to play, but failing miserably.
Kira: ACK!
My cell phone started to ring “Agitated Screams of Maggots”, and the five men stopped what they were doing. I heard one of them whisper: Kyo, we should get outta here. Another one said: AWW!!! NO! I’M NOT DONE YET!!!!
Haratsuki: Where are you? You just disappeared!!
Kira: I went to the arcade over by the punk shop.
Haratsuki: You want I can meet you there?
Kira: Sure, whatever….
I hung up and saw the five guys still looking at me.
Kira: What?
One began to walk up to me. In the back you could hear: Totchi! Get back here!
Kira: Hi?
Man: Sumimasen… can you help me?
Kira: What do I get out of it?
Man: The gratifying feeling of helping a famous person in need?
Kira: Fair enough Toshiya.
He was surprised that I didn’t freak out like other girls would’ve. He needed help with adjusting his level from Basic to Beginner. It was cute because it was a touch screen.
Toshiya: Arigatō!
Kaoru: Have I seen you before?
Kira: Probably, I’ve been to a lot of your shows so….
Die: Hey Kao! It’s that cutie from our last gig here that you couldn’t stop drooling over!
Kaoru: *Elbows Die in ribs* DIE!
Kira: You know I don’t really care… -_-‘
Die: Don’t be so cold.
Kira: I’m not, I’m being me.
I’m guessing Kaoru managed to slip his number into my back pocket somehow before Haratsuki walked up behind me and scared the shit out of me.
Haratsuki: Hihi!! Ready to go?
Kira: Yeah, I thinks so…. Ja ne!
Dir en grey: Bai-bai!
When we got home, Haratsuki went to sleep. It was only 4:00 P.M. I sat down on the couch and turned on the T.V. I went to get my cell out of my back pocket, and I pulled out a piece of paper with it. Kaoru? My instinct told me to call it, just to see what he wanted.
*brrr…..brrr…..brr...CLICK!*
Kaoru: Moshi moshi?
Kira: Hi? Kaoru? It’s Kira.
Kaoru: So you found the note?
Kira: Your number? Yeah, so what’s up?
Kaoru: You wanna do something? Tonight?
Kira: ….Sure…
Kaoru: Great! Umm… Let’s meet at… Gokutama Park.
Kira: I live right next to that, cool. So…. 9:00 sound ok?
Kaoru: Ok. See you then.
Kira: Bye…
Did I just AGREE to a DATE with KAORU NIIKURA!?
I waited on a bench at the East end of the park. Right where we said we’d meet.
Kaoru: I almost mistook you for an elegant shadow…
Kira: Are you going cheesy on me?
Kaoru: *shrugs* just trying to lighten the mood…
Kira: Well, you’re doing a good job.
By midnight, I hadn’t realized what I’d done. My head was lying against his chest and we were looking up at the stars, talking about everything and nothing.
Kaoru: Why do you shy away?
Kira: I don’t. I just like my own space…
Kaoru: That’s understandable…
Kira: I find it funny that I’m comfortable around you…
Without another warning he kissed me. As his lips were pressed against mine like two pieces in a jigsaw puzzle, all I could think was: funny I would find someone at an arcade. We stayed like that for a while, even all night as we watched the sun rise into a new craptastically boring day… or so I thought.
