Chapter 14: I'm Free!

"Wakey, wakey my young-OH MY GOODNESS!"

Kyle, Drew, Val, Aiden and I shot up like we were all shocked with a million jults of electricity. We were all up except for Will and Selene, who I assumed was still sick.

"Good morning Ms. Tami," I said with a smile.

"Have you children no shame!" She yelled. "Your not even married and you are all sleeping together!"

"Umm well those two on the floor are engaged," Kyle said pointed to Drew and val.

"And what about you two?" She asked Kyle and I.

"We're thinking about it," Kyle said while I blushed alittle.

"What about those two?" she said pointing to Will and selene.

"Well they are both engaged as well but another reason why Will is sleeping in the same bed as Selene is becasue it's to help bring her fever down," Val said rubbing her eyes.

"Well that does make sense. And since you all didn't do anything then I guess your off the hook now up, up, up! It's time to get to work," she said. "Now which one of you will be staying with your sick friend?"

"That will be me,"

We all looked over to see that Will was now up and soaking Selene's rag in the water and then placing it back on her forehead.

"She's my Fiance and I'm very worried about her condition so I want to stay here with her to make sure that she'll be ok," Will said. Ms. Tami nodded.

"Thats fine. I'll see you all down stairs in alittle while," and with that she left us alone.

"How the hell could you sleep through her yelling Will?" Kyle asked. "It was like a freakin volcano went off."

Will laughed. "I have years of practice, since I used to live right next a railroad station and every morning the whistle would go off from the train and wake me up until i finally got so used to it that it didin't wake me up anymore."

"That makes sence," Drew said stretching. "So your gonna stay here and keep an eye on her then?"

"Yeah," Will said feeling Selene's forehead. "Looks like her fever's gone. So she might be better in a little while."

"Thats good," Kyle said with a sigh of relief. "The sooner she gets better the sooner we can get home to our own time."

"So I guess we should get dressed and ready so Ms. Tami doesn't come up here and erupt again," I said with a giggle.

We took turns getting changed. Us girls went first to attempt to try and put together to thirteen layerd dresses that you could barely walk in. Then the guys went and got dressed in their stockings and knickers. Which was hysterical. once we were all dressed and ready to go then we all walked out of the room, saying bye to Will, and walked down the stairs to the tavern so Ms. Tmai could give us our jobs for the day.

I felt something cold lying next to me as I regained consciousness. I groaned and turned in the blanckets that I was in. I slowly opened my eye and looked at the black T-shirt that was infront of my face. I slowly lifted my head up and looked at Will's face looking down at me. My eye widened in shock and horror as I saw that i was extremely close to Will in the same bed. I yelled and jumped to the other end of the bed. Will laughed at my reaction

"I see your all better," Will said still laughing.

"What the hell am I doing in your bed?" I yelled at him. I then started to recall the day before. I was teaching Aiden how to use his powers and what not and when it was time to go back in time he went to far back and then I got really sick for some reason.

"I slept in the same bed as you so your fever would go down," Will said sitting up. "Which looks like helped alot since you don't have it anymore."

"Where's everyone else?" I asked confused about everything that was going on around me.

"We got a room at an inn and we are all working around the inn to pay for our room and board since we have no money that will work in this time," Will said standing up and stretching. "How do you feel anyway?"

I took in a count of all the things that were wrong with me the night before. Let's see, I can breathe, my chest doesn't feel like it's on fire anymore, i'm not buring up, my head doesn't hurt anymore, i can talk normally, I'm not weak anymore, and my body doesn't feel like it's gonna rip in half anymore. "I'm.......terrific?" I said surprising myself Will also looked at me surprised.

"Are you sure?" Will said coming closer to me. "You looked like you were gonna die yesterday."

I laughed alittle. "Believe me I felt like i was gonna die," I said. I then put my feet over the side of the bed and stepped onto the floor. I felt strange when my feet touched the floor. I felt so light. It was like my body was gone and it was just my spirit. I looked down at my hands strangely and then looked to Will. "Somethings not right. I need to talk to light." Before I left the room Will grabed my arm. i looked back at him.

"Before you do that you might want to change into something that will help you blend in while we're here," he said pointing to a pile of clothes on the couch in the room. I looked at him with narrowed eyes. "I promise I wont look."

"Yeah this coming from the guy who walked in on me while I was changing," I said rolling my eyes.

"That was an acident," Will said to me.

"Yeah sure," I said walking over to the clothes and pulling out the dresses that I had to put on. I struggled to put it on but I did and then looked at what I looked like in the mirror. I frowned at my reflexion. "This is too revealing. If I bump into someone they're screwed plus I look like a tavern wench."

"Well how do you think I'm gonna feel when I put those tights and knickers on," Will said making a face of pure fake horror. I laughed at him and then went out the door to let him change and then went down the hall to go down to the tavern. I wasn't even half way down the staris when I heard someone talking to me.

"Well you look alot better," I saw a middle aged woman dressed in the similar get I was in smiling at me as Icame down the stairs. "You probably shouldn't be up yet though missy. i mean you looked like you were gonna die last time I saw you."

"So I've been told. I don't want to be rude but do you know where my friends are?" I asked her with a smile.

"you lady friends are working in the tavern to your right and your male friends are out side chopping wood," she said with a warming smile.

"Thank you," i said returning the smile. i walked into the tavern and saw Light dressed in a similar dress that i was in. She saw me and her eyes lighted up.

"SELENE YOUR OK!" she yelled running over to me while tripping over the hem of her dress. i was then filled with horror as irealized that i wasn't covered properly and that as soo as Light touched meshe would- it was to late she had her arms aorund me and her bare arms were touching my bare arms. She pulled away and started rambling on about how happy she was that Iwas ok and how worried she was, I don't know I wasn't paying attention to her, I was waiting for her to fall to the floor and go into a fit. But she didn't. Sometihng was wrong with me.

"Light come with me," isaid grabing her dress and leading her to the back yard of the inn. Once there she looked at me funny.

"Whats up selene?" she asked worried.

"You touched me," I said with fear on my face.

Light's face immediately went pale with horror as she realized what she did. She stood there a moment waiting for something to happen but nothing never did. "But nothing's happening." Light pointed out.

"Touch me again," I told her. She looked at me alittle hestitant about the idea. "If you start to have a fit then i'll bring you back with my blood."

Light took a deep breath and reached out her hand and grabed my bare arm. She held it in her hand and we both stood there for several minutes. nothing happend. She let go of my arm and then looked at me. "Whats going on with you? Wait do you still have a fever?" Light asked feeling my forehead.

I shook my head. "No i'm completely back to normal and then some," I said. She looked at me with a strange expression. "I feel so light. It's like Ihave nothing holding me to the ground. And usually when the attack I had last night wasn't like any of the ones I had before. It was like I was being burned alive and begin torn apart at the same time."

Light thought about this and then came up with a solution. "We should leave tonight," Light said. i looked at her with an expression on my face thatment "No duh genuis".

"Well icould have come up with that Light," I said rolling my eyes.

"Well i'm so sorry Selene," Light said to me rolling her eyes..

We looked up at the sky and saw that it was getting late and that we should get bakc to the tavern and hlep out before we head back to our room and change before heading home.

It was about alittle after 11 when we all headed back to our room and changed out of the clothes that Ms. Tami had given us to ware and back into our normal clothes. After we were all changed we sat around and talked about how we were going to get back. But it wasn't long before we were inturupted.

"Hurry kids you must get out of here!" she yelled.

"Whats going on?" Val asked her.

"The wolves are coming!" she yelled running down the hall to warn the other guests.

"Wolves?" Light said with a confused look.

"Werewolves,"

We all looked over at Kyle who's eyes were shining bright yellow and resembled that of of a wolf. He was growling a low throaty growl.

"Kyle," Light said in a worried tone. "What's wrong?" she asked him.

Kyle stuck his nose in the air and sniffed. His nose crinckled up and his growl became louder. "There are werewolves, about over 20, coming this way," he finally said.

"Great. Now what?" Drew said banging his head off the wall.

"We get the hell out of here thats what," Aiden said rising to his feet.

"What about the towns people? We can't just leave them here to deal with the wolves by themselves," Light said.

"Well what are we going to do to help them?" Will asked. "We can't reveal our true selves to the people here. We could alter time and get oursleves into trouble."

"What if I stop time and we take out the wolves while time is frozen?" I asked.

"We need you save your energy so we can get home," Will said.

"What if I stop time?"

We all turn and look at Aiden. "I can do it almost as good as selene can so why don't I stop time while you take care of the wolves?"

"That could work," Val said accepting the plan.

"But what are we going to do to the wolves once time is frozen?" Light asked.

"We unfreeze them one at a time and fight them off like that," I said. "That way we don't get over whelmed by their numbers and none of the towns people get hurt."

"That should work!" Light cheered.

"But what if we alter time by doing this?" Kyle asked tryign to calm down.

"How can time be altered by fighting off some wolves and saving a town of people from being killed?" Aiden asked.

"My family has used this territory as their hunting ground for years. If one of my ancestors is on this group thats attacking and if they get killed my family and I could disapear from existance," We all looked at Kyle thinking about what he had just said.

"Well then we wont kill any," Drew said with a shrug.

"Hold on a sec," I said standing up form the bed I was sitting on. "What happens if one of boys snaps and ends up accidentally killing one of the wolves?" I asked.

"Selene has a point," Val said standing up from her spot on the couch."We can't afford one of you guys to lose yourselves out there so I say that us girls go out there and take care of the situation ourselves." Val said with a smirk.

"I'm in," I said standing next to val.

"Me too," Light said with a smile andjoining us.

"Then what are we supposed to do?" Kyle asked with outrage.

"Aiden will stop time from here and he will make sure the rest of you stay here while we take care of the wolves," I said walking over to the window.

"No way," Will said standing up next to me.

"Hell no," Kyle said standing next to Light.

"Absolutely not!" Drew said going to Val.

"We have no other choice," I said looking Will in the eye.

"We know that it's your guy's nature to want to protect your girls but we caan take care of ourselves," Light said kissing Kyle on the cheek.

"When I see the wolves coming I'll signal to you Aiden so watch out for it," i said opening the door and running down the hall.

"Just kick back and watch your lady's work guys," Light said winking at the guys before running down the hall after me. Then Val joined us aswell. We ran out the front door of the inn and into the streets of the town where the people were running around like chickens with their heads cut off. "Why is it that mortals always act like this when danger rears it's ugly head?" Light said looking at the people running for cover.

I looked over to the trees near the edge of the town and saw the first of the werewolves crunning for the town. i looked up to the window of our room and looked at Aiden. I waved my hand at him and he nodded. The girls and I got into position and waited for the flow of time to stop. The wolves started to pass us as the ran through the town and as more emerged from the trees.

"What's taking him so long?" Val asked out loud as the wolves started to go after the people that were still in the streets.

"Since he only started this skill it's going to take sometime for him to make the flow of time stop," I said looking as the wolves went after the people. Come on Aiden. You can do it! I thought as I watched the last of the wolves come out of the trees. Just when I was about to stop time myself eveything around us froze completely. I heaved a sigh of relief and looked up at the window to see Aiden's face looking down at us. I gave him a smile and a thumbs up to let him know he did a good job.

"Ok which one are we gonna start with?" Light asked stretching and warming up like she would for a track meet.

"I say we start with the one that is trying to break the door to the inn," Val said pointing to the inn door with a frozen wolf tryign to break in.

"Sounds good," I walked over to the wolf and grabed it's front leg. It suddenly began to move again. I steped back and rejoined Val and Light. "Hey wolfy!" The wolf turned and looked at me with rage and the deisre to kill in his eyes. I removed my long sleeved shirt to reveal to reveal my black tank top. He began to charge towards us and we all scattered to the side.

The wolf looked at me, then Val, and then Light trying to deside which one of us to attack first. He opened his jaws and growled at Light, as if picking her as his first target, ans then charged at her head on. LIght stood there until the wolf was only a foot away from her and then jumped into the air and over the wolf's head and landing on his back. The wolf tried biting her legs while he tryed to buck her off.

"YEE-HAW!"Light yelled as she road the wolf like a cow boy in a rodeo. Val and i watched her laughing our butts off until our ribs hurt.

"Ok Light stop playing around and lets get this over with," Val yelled trying to stop laughing.

"Fine," Light says jumping off the wolf. It was mad now. He stopped bucking and looked at me. as he started to charge towards me I consentrated on my hand with my eyes closed. When the wolf was alittle less then a foot away from me I shot my eyes opened and placed my hand on it's head bracing myself so it wouldn't knock me back. As soon as my hand made contact with the wolfs head his eye closed and he fell limply to the ground like a rag doll. I waited for a moment to see if I had killed it or if it was unconscious. It stayed a wolf. It was alive. I sighed with relief.

"Val take this guy as far away from here as possible," Val nodded and picked up the wolf with her arms. She was gone in a matter of minutes.

"How you feelin' Selene?" Light asked me as she stretched again.

"Pretty good considering i just used an ability that would usually cause me to fall over with exhaustion," I said rubbing my neck. Val soon apeared again and brushed off her pants and hands.

"Well who's is our next aponent?" Val asked.

"What is the meaning of this?"

We turned to see a young man dressed in black looking at us with an eyebrow raised. My eyes widend when I recongnized him. It was my dad!

"Well speak up?" he said in a harsh tone.

"What do you want?" Val asked stepping forward in a defensive stance. I put a hand on her shoulder and pulled her back.

"I was sent here to do my job. i was told that there would be a werewolf raid in this town and that there would be a great number of deaths for me to take care of," he looked at all of us and then to me. his gaze locked with mine. It was almost as if i looked firmiliar to him cause his hard, rigid gaze softend when he looked into my purle eyes that were the same color as his. "Who are you?"

"You wouldn't believe me if I told you," I said keeping a hold on Val.

Ge walked over to me and inspected me from head to toe. He seemed to catch my aura for he stopped circling me and looked me in the eye.

"Those clothes that you ware aren't from this time period," he said looking at the clothing that we were waring. "Where are you three from?"

"The year 2008," I said softly.

"Why are you here?" he asked.

"I was teaching my brother how to use his ability of time travel and he transported us to far back in time," I explained.

"Where is this brother of yours?"

"Inside the inn," I pointed out.

He seemed to inspect me again for a moment more. "what is your name?" he asked.

"Selene," I answered.

"What is your last name?"

I hesitated a moment. If he found out that I'm his daughter I could alter the time stream. "Look we're terribly sorry that we messed with time, but I will unfreeze time and we will be on our way. I'm sorry to cause you any inconvenience so if you'll excuse us-"

"I said tell me your last name girl," I looked at him with narrowed eyes. He was different from my father. He was alot more airogant.

"Why do you want to know so badly? Hmm?" I asked ignoring his order.

"You should listen to me half breed. I'm alot stonger than you," he said returning my glare.

"I highly doubt that," I turned to walk away when he grabed my arm. "Get your hands off me."

"Not until you tell me what i want to know," He said forcefully.

"I'm not telling you shit James Dae!" he looked at me wide eyed and released my arm.

"How do you know who I am?" he asked.

I didn't answer him as we went into the inn and up to our room. i ran through the door and locked it once Val and Light were inside. I made time flow normally again with the snap of my fingers and looked at everyone. "We have to go, I said concentrating on the flow of time. The visions of future events started to flash past my eyes and until i concentrated on one vision in particular and that was the field where i had taken Aiden to practice in. I felt a slight kick and saw that I was back in the field with everyone.

"I thought you guys were gonna take care of the wolves?" Drew asked.

"We were until my father's past self showed up. I had to get out of there before he found out who I was," I said sitting on the ground.

"Selene are you ok? "Will asked.

"Yeah i'm fine i'm just alittle stressed is all," I pulled out my cell phone and looked at the time. "Huh what do you know. I brought us back to the time we left." I stood up and brushed myslef off. "I don't know about you guys but I'm ready for bed after all that."

"Same here. I'm about exhausted," Light said stretching. grumble, grumble. We all looked at Light as she blushed pink.

"Aparently your also hungry," Val said while we laughed.

"How about we all go get something to eat?" Drew asked.

"Sounds good to me. I could eat a whole heard of cows," Light said.

"What about you Selene?" Val asked.

"Umm I'm actually gonna go see Live for a bit. I have some questions for her," I said picking up my gym bag and throwing it over my shoulder. I put my long sleeved shirt in the bag and unfurled my wings from my shoulder blades.

"Your going to fly there?" Will asked worried.

"Yeah I'll be fine so don't worry," I spred my wings out wide. "I'll see you guys later. I flaped my wings once and flew into the air. I fly through the air feeling.....strange. Before when I would bring my wings out I would feel so weak and drained but for some reason i felt so charged and full of energy. It wasn't long before I reached Live's house and landed on the roof next to my old bed room window. I opened the window and went inside my old room. I looked around and saw that Live was now using it for storage and I sighed. I walked over to the door, opened it, and then walked down the hall and to the kitchen. "Live?"

"I'm in the living room dear," I heard her call from the living room. With out hesitation i ran into the room and stood next to the couch she was sitting on. Lived looked up at me and smiled. "I knew you would come here once 'it' happend."

"Live, there's something wrong with me," I said sitting in an amr chair cady corner to the coch that Live was sitting on. Live chuckled alittle and then smiled at me.

"There is nothing wrong with you dear. It's just that you are one of the minority," Live said with a smile. I looked at her strangely. "You see, for our kind, when certain half breeds reach a certain point in their life they gturn from a half breed to a full fledge death angel."

I stared at her my mouth hanging open in utter shock. "You mean i have all the powers my father does?" I asked breathless.

"Yes and you also have your half breed powers as well," Live said.

I smiled wide. "So are there any differences between me and a regualr death angel?" I asked still grinning.

"You have all the powers you did when you were still a half breed, you can't go to the land of the dead, you don;t have to report to elders and they have no power over you, and you don't have to eat human souls to sustain your life or to give you power," Live said as I smiled more.

"Wait what about the touch of death?" I asked removing my gloves and looking at my pale hands. Live smiled wide.

"That is yours to control and use when you see fit. you no longer have to cover your skin and be afraid that you will touch someone and they will die," Live said.

My heart stopped. No more touch of death. I was free. I could dress the way I wanted and not be afraid that someone would die if I accidentally touched them. I didn't realized it but istarted crying from the sheer joy of knowing that I was free from the curse that had plagued me for 17 horrible years of my life. I stood up in a flash and huged Live with all my might. She laughed and held me back. She then pulled away from me and looked at me serious.

"Selene, you have to be more careful now. There are hunters out there that hunt down people like you for your power so you must be very careful if you ever come across a tracker or any sort of hunter. Also your powers are alot more powerful then before and you have be careful when using them. " I nodded and smield at Live.

"Thank you so much Live for the answers. If i have any trouble I'll call or stop by," I walked to the door way. "I'll see you later." Isaid running out the door and in the direction of Will's house.

The whole way i was screaming in my head I'm free.....
