When school ended, I walked with Sammi. We both could walk home. The school didn't need many buses because of the small amount of people in the town.
We started heading down the steps, but we stopped in front of the main office.
"Hey, I gotta drop this off in the office," She said, holding a pink piece of paper. I'm suspecting it was an in-school slip.
"Alrighty."
We both walked into the main office, as Sammi promptly handed the receptionist the paper. It ended taking longer than it was intended. I stood off to the side, leaning against the wall. And that's when I noticed him. He was standing casually behind Sammi, waiting his turn. He was a pretty, pretty boy. He was tall, maybe about six-three. He was skinny, and very lanky. His hair was messy, but yet neat. It was the ever famous "I-don't-care-but-I-do" look.
He noticed I was staring at him, and I noticed his eyeball roll to the side, he was peering at me.
He gave a small smirk; obviously proud he was good looking enough to get stared at. Maybe he got it a lot, and was just tallying the scores of how many girls stopped and stared.
Of course, I returned the favor, and gave him a small smile, and a faint giggle. And he winked, still with a crooked smile on his face. I looked down, it was awkward, but yet so flattering. It made me feel sort of pretty, and attractive. I was just some small blonde girl, with many, many mental problems (according to other people).
As I stared at my feet, I was snapped back into reality with a tap by Sammi. I looked up at her, but yet also staring past her at the boy, he was already at the counter. If he was going to be a new student here, I'll be totally screwed. Awkward.
"Come on, loser. Time to peace out." She said. I smirked. "Okay, okay!" I silently shouted. And we walked out.
As we were coming up to the street where our streets we lived on were divided, she broke out silence. "So, there's going to be me, you, Sarah, Kristen, and Erin. The others couldn't come."
"Sounds good to me. Is Sarah's mom driving us there?" I asked, my face confused.
"Haha, yeah, but it shouldn't be so bad." It would. Having Sarah's mom lead us around was terrible. I felt bad for her.
I sighed. "Whatever you say..."
"Okay," She said with a sigh in her voice. "See you at six thirty." She waved goodbye and went her direction.
Today was November thirtieth. Tomorrow was my birthday on December first.
It was getting more chilly, but it still seemed like October.
But like my birthday, will that dramatically change overnight too?
It got me thinking... maybe I should watch the weather channel.
I entered my house, it was nice and warm, and it smelled like waffles.
Again the traditional lunch waffles?
I entered the kitchen, to see my aunts quickly shoving things into place.
I paused, they did, too.
"... Umm... what are you doing?"
"Making breakfast, dear!" Aunt B said. She was obviously covering up. Liars.
"... It's dinner time!"
"Best time to have it," Trish said, putting a glass container away in the cabinet.
I took my hat off.
"Alright... I'm just going to drop it... and walk away."
"What about waffles?" B quickly asked.
"I'm not hungry." I shouted, walking up the stairs.
They scared the dickens out of me.
