One week later. Day of the interview

“MOMMMMMM, I can’t find my skinnies” I screamed while digging through my closet throwing clothes behind me trying to find something to wear for my interview. “MOMMMMM, I need those jeans, and I can’t find my jacket” I screamed again switching to my dresser and emptying the whole top drawer on my bed.

Kelsie you need to calm down” My mom said soothingly as she grabbed my jacket from my doorknob, and tossed my skinnies on top of the pile of clothes on my bed.

Come here sweetie” She motioned for me to come sit next to her on the bed. I gave a defeated look and sat down next to her. “It’s just an interview Kels you’ll nail it I know you will, but you need to calm down or you will give yourself a heart attack” she looked at me seriously.

“But this isn’t just your normal every day job nor is it your normal everyday place. It’s a once in a lifetime internship at “the” Hollywood record label” I rambled this as fast as my lips would allow out.

“Aww Kels I know this means the world to you, but…” She stopped to think about what she would have said and changed her answer “if you don’t calm down you won’t have enough time to do your hair” she sighed knowing she wouldn’t get me to give in.

“Thanks for finding my clothes for me mom” I yelled as I ran for the bathroom, leaving her sitting on my clothes laden bed.

____________

The Interview

I sat in the chair fidgeting with the cuffs on my jacket while the manager who was interviewing me fired questions at me.

Have you ever done drugs?”

“No”

“Have you ever committed a crime?”

“No, never”

“Do you have any friends who are hard core fans of any bands we cover here at Hollywood records?”

“No, definitely not” I giggle a little bit at how she had worded the question.

“Are you willing to work side by side with well known artists?”

“Yea” I answer in a peppy tone that hinted a little to much of my excitement at the question.

“Can we trust you to not release any photos or information of people or artists you come in contact with during the internship?”

“Yes, you can trust me, artists are people too who deserve their privacy.” She seemed satisfied with my answer and I smiled a little bit to myself.

How old are you again?” Her tone was softer this time and I relaxed a tiny bit.

“17” I casually answer, hoping my age would not be a factor.

“Good, and what are your plans for the future?” She seemed to be resorting to more informal questions, while she thought something over in her head.

“Well, after I finish my senior year I’m hoping to be accepted at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music”

“Good, Good” She automatically stated, still deep in thought. I sat there still pulling on my cuffs when her eyes lit up and she leaned towards me. “I have a proposition for you Kelsie, I will give you the internship if you object to this idea, but I think this spot will suit you a lot more then that running errands for those office blokes” She seemed to be more excited about this idea then I was excited to be hearing it.
“How would you like to work side by side with one of our top bands and help their manager? He really could use an extra head, and an extra set of hands.”
I could see her brain working out all of the details in her head even before I said anything.

“Yea, sure that sounds great” I pepped up, getting extremely excited at the thought of assisting a real band manager.

“Great, Paul will be thrilled!” She instantly picked up her phone and dialed a number and started blabing incoherently with the person on the other end of the phone.
"Kelsie how early can you start working?"
She looked up from the pad she was vigorously scratching notes on while she balanced the phone on her shoulder.
"As soon as you need me" was my simple answer.
"Wonderful, this will work out perfectly. Oh, are you okay with traveling, there will be avid traveling, and your schooling, would you be okay with private schooling on the job?"
She spit all this out so fast I almost didn't comprehend what was happening.
"
Yes, to both" I had to hold back my little scream and happy dance. This was really happening I'm going to assist a manager, and traveling that has to be touring, and ahhh TOURING!!! could this get any better? My dream job, going on tour, with a band from Hollywood records. It was too much for me to handle, so I excused myself and walked over to the water fountain and took a very long drink, gulping down the cool water.
"Woah slow down there, your gonna drown yourself if you don't stop to take a breath." the male voice stated from behind me.
"oh...yea, I was just really thirsty" I tried to add a little laugh so just maybe he didn't think I was absolutely crazy. I turned around to see who the voice belonged to, and found it to be the one and only gorgeous guy from the desk with the application basket on it(who woulda thunk).
"Your that girl who applied for the internship aren't you?"
I was amazed he had even remembered what I looked like, the guy hadn't even looked up when I was here the last time.
"Yup that's me" I just tried to be nice, not seeming in a rush to get back to my interview.

"Well then you must be here for an interview, you shouldn't keep them waiting. Good luck."
He waved while he walked back to his desk.
"Thanks" I said in a very small voice. "Well I guess time to get back to my daydream of a day" I
walked back to my interviewer still in a daze and wondering how much faster this process could go, it seemed impossible to me that such a large business would employ a 17 year old girl within just one week, and on only one interview.
