Mollie and Charlie sat quietly in class, staring at the chalk board behind the teachers head. They listened as Mrs.Kindel lectured the class on the 'oh-so-fascinating' topic of anatomy. Mollie imagined tons of disgusting swirling organs in a giant tub somewhere, while sharlie glanced from the clock to the door.
"Oh dear!! I'm late!! I'm terribly late!" The class pet, Daisy, a small white cat whom the principal allowed only if Mrs.Kindel took her home EVERY DAY, and cleaned up the messes, and kept her in her room, ran out the door. This was odd, what could a small cat be LATE for? It only occured to Charlie later, that a cat should not talk... much less be wearing a sweatshirt and have a shiny digital watch on it's wrist like Daisy did. Nonetheless, Charlie's curiosity got the better of him, and he grabbed Mollie's wrist and ran out the door. It also occured to him later that the teacher did nothing to stop them. How peculiar. Either way, they ran chasing Daisy down the hall, and outside to the the childrens playground. Daisy dived under the slide, and as soon as Mollie and Charlie stepped behind the slide, they began tumbling down a very deep hole in the ground, falling what seemed very slowly. They gazed at the walls, which were covered in a collection of photos, and many cans of soda. They fell for a long time it seemed, and Mollie turned to Charlie.
"At least we won't think much of falling down stairs now, will we?" She smiled.
"I guess not." He smiled to.
They landed on their feet.
"Wait! Please!" Daisy was nearing the end of a long hallway, and ignored ollie's call. Charlie and she ran after their class pet frantically, and at the end of the hallway they passed through a door. They found another, smaller, door. And when they opened it, they found another even SMALLER door, and so on, until they found one so small they could not possibly fit.
"Why not try the drinks on the table?" Suggested a woman they knew as their history teacher, who stood behind a tall glass table. The drinks were two plastic water bottles with the labels scrached off and had 'DRINK ME!' written on them. The two friends gulped the bottles down, and cried out ,suprised, to find they were smaller than the bottles.
"Try the box!" The woman told them. The reached for a box which contained two chocolate chip cookies with 'EAT ME!' written on them, they grew and grew and grew until their heads hit the ceiling.
"Ow!!" They cried in unison, tears spilling from thier eyes. They kept crying, filling the room with tears, until the history threw them the bottles. They took a sip, and shrunk down until they were ontop of the bottles like boats, floating on a river of tears. They saw daisy, and followed her to shore. They jumped off the bottle and followed Daisy into the woods, but Instead of the whit cat, she found two strange l people, named Kayliedum and Salemdee , who looked somewhat like friends from home. They told Charlie and Mollie which way to go, and they ran from the two strange friends.
Father along, they came to a small neat house.
"Wonder who lives here." Mollie said. Charlie shrugged. walking into the house, they looked around, and saw another small box containing another two cookies labled 'Eat Me'. so they did.
"Not again!" Charlie maoned as his head hit the ceiling. Just then Daisy came.
"Help! A monster's in my house!" she cried. By now the friends had grown so large that parts of thier arms and legs were sticking out the doors and windows. They were trapped. Mollie spotted the cat's garden. "This should do, I must eat something." She said. Mollie reached for two tomatos. She took a bite and began shrinking. She handed one to Charlie. By the time they were small again, Daisy had remembered her appointment or meeting, or whatever she was late to, and disappeared into the woods. "Wait, Please!" Charlie called out. Mollie and Charlie had grown far too small to keep up with Daisy. They was so small that flowers towered over thier heads. They searched the flowerbed, and came upon a man sitting upon a desk, smoking a ciggarette, blowing smokey shapes in their faces. They recognized the man as Mr.Millers, the principal.
"Who are YOU?" Mr.Millers asked them, blowing more smoke from his nose.
"W-we've changed so much since this morning... I don't know quite who I am, and I'm sure Charlie feels the same." She looked at Charlie who nodded anxiously.
"Do explain yourself."Mr.Millers said, but he lost interest in thier explaination. Suddenly Mr.Millers disappeared in a puff of smoke.
"One side will make you grow taller," He spoke from the wind, "The other side with make you grow smaller. Hm. Smaller and Taller!"
"The One and other side of what?" Sakura questioned.
"The desk of course." Mr.Millers said, as his voice trailed off.
They bothe broke peices off each side of the old desk.
"Who knew you could eat wood?" Mollie wondered as she nibbed one piece.
Mollie shot up until her head was higher than the tallest trees. She quickly took a bite from the other piece and was small again, too small to be exact.
She studied the pieces, and carefully licked one piece, until she was the size she wanted to be. She instructed charlie to do the same.
She put both pieces in her pockets for later.
"left is smaller..." She bit of the fingernail of her left index finger "And right is bigger!" She took Charlies wrist and looked around
"Where are we going?" Charlie asked.
"That depends on where you want to get to." A lazy voice said, as Charlies dog, Scrap, appeared on a branch above thier heads.
"It doesn't really matter. As long as we get somewhere" Charlie replied.
"Then it doesn't really matter which way you go, does it?" Scrap said. "However, if I were looking for a white cat, I'd ask the Mad Dancer." So they followed the sign to the Mad Dancer's. The Mad Dancer and his friend The Hip-hop Hare, who looked suspiciously like Kayliedum and Salemdee, were in the middle of a party. "Come sit dance guys!." The Mad Dancer ushered. They were each given partying clothes, and forced to change. As the Mad Dancer, The hip hop hare, and Charlie and Mollie danced, Daisy dropped by. The Dancer grabbed a glass of punch and offered it to Daisy, who refused. Then, the Dancer, offended, kicked Daisy over a high brick wall.. "This is so stupid, I'm going straight back to class." With that, Charlie, towing a disturbed Mollie, left.
They couldn't find the correct way, so they sat down and waited for someone to find them.
It wasn't long before the Scrap showed up. He wasn't surprised they couldn't find her way.
"That's because all ways are the Queen's ways. Yousimply have to meet the Queen." He said, as he opened a door in a large tree.
Through the door was a garden maze. She followed the path where she saw three text books painting flowers. "Why are you painting red flowers purple?"Mollie asked them.
"No time to talk, Queen's coming." The math book said. The sound of a trumpet suddenly filled the air. Charlie tugged Mollies sleeve, and she turned to see a row of Text books led by none other than Daisy herself.
"Her royal majesty, Kayla Bickerman, Queen of Books!" she annonced. Mollie and Charlie gaped at the smartest girl in their classes. Queen Kayla had come to inspect her gardens.
"AGH!" Mollie cried angrily, not only was Kayle smartest, also the most hated girl in all of the class.
Mollie got out the pieces of wood from her pocket and popped both of them in her mouth, and instantly began growing taller."Gggggggggrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!! What did you do to become queen?! You... You stupid stupid porker!!!!!!"
By now, Mollie was now shrinking, as the other piece took affect.
"Guards!" The Text book guards ran at Mollie and Charlie with spears.
Mollie grabbed charlie and ran around them all.
"You can't go yet, you haven't even had any punch!!!" The Mad Dancer yelled after her.
"Does it look like we can sit down and eat right now?!" Charlie questioned sarcastically. They looked back and saw everyone they had met chasing after them, Queen Kayla her guards, Kayliedum and Salemdee, The Principal, The Mad Dancer and The hip hop hare, even Daisy and Scrap.
Sakura ran to a closed door. The two banged hard on it. "Let us out of this wonderland!!!! I want to go back to class now!!!!!" Charlie and Mollie cried cried. "Oh, but your already there!." The history teachers voice voice rang in her ears.
"I....don't want any punch..... get Daisy!" Mollie mumbled.
"Stupid cat...." Charlie twitched. hands smacked ont their desks.
"WAKE UP! DO NOT FALL ASLEEP IN MY CLASS! That's detention for both of you." They looked up and groaned.
"Hey Charlie."Mollie whispered.
"What?" He turned to her.
"Let's go back to wonderland. I think even that's better than detention." She giggled. He put his head down in his arms.
"Couldn't agree more."
