Late at night, a litle boy snuck out. No one saw him as he dissepeared between the trees. He took a quick look back, to see if anyone had noticed him this time. As usual it was dead silent. He continued further into the forest, until he could see no more then what the moon showed him. The bright full-moon.
He stopped when he came to the clearing. She was waiting at the same spot as usual. As soon as she saw him she elegantly jumped down from the stub and walked towards him. Her light wings swaying slowly behind her. She was just as beautifull as ever. Smiling for only him to see.
He could no longer bear it. Tears began to leak from his eyes, making a tender web on his cheeks. She stopped a few feet away from him.
'Why are you crying?'
Her voice was like a thousand melodies. Lulling him. Telling him that everything would be allright.
'What is wrong?'
She said. Much lower this time. Her fingers gently touched his face, trying to wipe the tears away.
'My parents are getting a divorce.'
He whispered.
'And I have to move with my mom to the city. It is so far away! I will never be able to meet you..'
Now his shoulders were shaking. He looked down on the ground, unable to look into her deep eyes. After a long he lifted his head to see if she was still there. Her face was now also covered in tears. Surprised he lifted his hand to feel her face once more. She closed her eyes and whispered:
'As long as you don't forget me, everything will be allright.'
Night after night the litle boy cried. Nothing could comfort his wounded heart. But, as time passed his cries silenced. And one night he didn't cry anymore. He grew up. As time passed he couldn't even remember her face. She was no longer a pain for him, just a distant memory of a childs daydream.
As he became an old man, he moved back to the litle village he grew up in. He had no longer any family. He had never married nor gotten any children. The only thing left for him was the house from his childhood. It was in a bad shape, and it would cost a fortune to rebuild it. A fortune he didn't have. But that didn't matter.
He slowly sat down in the chair in front of the owen. His moves were stiff and painfull after a long life. He sat there, watching the fire slowly swallowing the logs.
There was something that stopped him from goin to bed. Something that kept him awake. He sighed. It was probibly just his imagination. He slowly raised himself again and went over to put out the fire. He suddenly stopped. There was a sweet, heartbreaking melody comming from outside. He listened to it until it silenced. His face was wet with tears. The tunes had allready made him go outside.
'Please.. Sing a litle more..'
As if the person singing had heard him the sad song begun again. This time it was so sad he could bearly stand it. He slowly limped towards the trees. Something led him deeper and deeper into the forest.
He stopped when he came to the clearing. There was a stub in the middle, with someone sitting on it. It was she who sang such a sad and beautiful.
Suddenly she looked at him with big teary eyes. At that moment he remembered everything.
'Can you ever forgive me?... Can you ever forgive me for forgetting you?...'
He whispered. She looked at him with her deep eyes and jumped down from the stub, as if it was just another visit like the ones in the past. She slowly walked towards him and stopped a feew feet away from him. Just as that night. She put her hand on his chest and said:
'As long as you can forgive yourself nothing else matters.'
He smiled happily at her and followed her once more as she led him into her world.
The next day everyone was talking about how the poor old man had died in the fire. The fire that was most likely caused by an owen.
