Everything Changes (Captain Jack Harkness)

It’s a cold foggy Sunday night, but nothing can spoil my mood. Although the bar is packed, Bianca, Jasmine and I have managed to find a fairly secluded table.

I guess I should tell you who I am. My name is Shauna and I'm 20. For the past 6 months I have been working as a scientist at UNIT. But after the incident at Atmos I felt I needed a change. Bianca and Jasmine are my vest friends. They have stuck with me through thick and thin. Through tears and triumph. Of course, they didn't know what I really did at UNIT. A girl has to have some mystery!

I'm about average height maybe a little bit shorter. My (former) job kept me fit, so I have quite a slim body...but man do I love fries and ice cream! Well, not together of course. Yuck!
I have brown layered hair that frames my face and chocolate brown eyes. I've often been told that a certain glint in my eye can let me get away with murder. That is always useful in my line of work.
At school I was valedictorian and voted the most trustworthy student by my class. Don't get me wrong, I'm far from perfect. I have a past, but I distance myself from what I've tried so hard to leave behind. I'm a sensitive person, but if you push my buttons I can have a nasty temper. I pride myself on honesty and my work ethic and enthusiasm for science. Now I sound like a total nerd...

“Shauna?” Bianca calls, snapping me out of my day dream. “Um...yeah?” I reply sheepishly. “We are making a toast...to new opportunities” “Cheers” we exclaim in unison. “What is the name of the company you're working at?” Bianca quizzes. “Its called the Torchwood Institute.” I reply before draining the last mouthful of my drink. “And you never know, maybe the new job will bring new opportunities in 'other' horizons” Jasmine adds with a wink. “As long as you don't set me up with anyone, I'll be fine. You have horrible taste!” Bianca bursts into fits of giggles while Jasmine fake pouts “Do not!”

While Bianca and Jasmine go to the bar to get some more drinks, I notice someone at the bar. Tall, dark, handsome and dreamy! “Wow” I think to myself. He turns in my direction and I realize that I have been ogling him. I blush and turn away. Although he's sitting down I can tell he must be about six foot tall. He has dark hair and gorgeous hazel eyes. I make the decision to throw him a “casually flirty” look, but as I turn around I realize that he's gone.

We finish our drinks and head outside to get a taxi. As I get in, I feel something in my jacket pocket. I pull out a small piece of paper and open it. “Everything Changes” is written on it. As the taxi pulls away, I could swear that I see the man from the bar in the alley adjacent to the car. He looks at me for a second, then turns and leaves.
