My hand shot to my head as I sat up. "That just flat out sucked ass." I whispered to myself. Now, I know this was all real. There is no way in hell that I would go through that pain in a coma or dream.
"Tell me about it." I heard come from my right.
I turned my head quickly, regretting it as I got a major head rush. I squeezed my eyes shut and layed my head back on the pillow.
"Who are you?" I asked, trying to sooth my head with the soft voice that passed my lips.
"Darin." He said bluntly. 'That's the guy that knew about my ribs.'
"How did you know what was wrong with my ribs?" I asked softly, finding my hand slowly raise to touch my ribs.
"Every warewolf goes through that." I thought about his thoughts as I looked up at the ceiling. "Just not nearly as bad as it was with you." I looked at him in mid-sentence, and his lips hadn't moved one bit. My eyes averted back up to the ceiling. 'Wow, I'm a freak.'
"So, you're a warewolf?" I didn't hear him answer, so I turned to face im again; he was nodding at me. 'What an idiot.' I nearly laughed. "So ... why are you with the vampire lord?" I asked stupidly.
"Because, the lycans shunned me away." He said in a small voice. "And Robert took me in."
"Why would they do that?" I asked, my eyebrows scruntching.
"Because I didn't have the "lycan" beauty. But, I looked as if I were a vampire."
"Are you vampire at all?"
"No, not one bit." I sighed. 'Well, I know the feeling.'
"So .... why are you watching me?"
"Because Robert told me to."
"Do you know the councils sons?" I raised an eyebrow, slowly sitting up. Fortunately, this time no head rush came.
"What is this, twenty questions?"
"Uuuh. I'll let you ask me some questions if you answer my last one." I said slyly.
"Yeah, I do. Every one of them have been my only friends my whole life. Though, these days, they're so different, I don't know them anymore."
"Ah, okay. You're turn." I said with a slight smile. Darin looked up at me with a questioning face. "What?"
"You're actually gonna let me ask you questions?"
"Uh, dur. I told you I would if you answered my question, didn't I?" He nodded. "And you answered my question ... so ... shoot." I smiled again, but he just looked astonished.
"Um, what does it feel like?" I raised an eyebrow at him again, turning to face him, my feet dangling off the bed. "To be as strong as 5 different pure bloods."
"Oh, um. Well, I don't really know ... I honestly just found out I was a mythical creature ... errm ... 2 nights ago." I mumbled, looking at the floor.
"Really?! You're mom didn't tell you?" I shook my head. "What a bitch." He mumbled.
"You have no idea." I whispered, thinking he wouldn't hear me.
"What did you mean by that?"
"Uh, nothing." He smirked at me.
"That was one of my questions." I smirked back, shaking my head. That was tricky.
"She's beat me since my dad died." I sighed, looking at the black carpet. It looked like my dreams did often. Just ... black.
"Really?! And you didn't do anything?!" I shook my head. "I would have." He mumbled.
"Well, I thought she'd kick my ass worse." I laughed airly.
"Oh, so do you h-"
"Ellie!" I heard from the door. When I turned to face it, Robert was standing there, smiling at me. "How ya feeling?" I shook my head lightly and laughed.
"Just great Robby." I laughed at his scruntched nose. "What's the matter? Don't like your nickname?" I heard Darin gasp, and I just laughed more. "Yeah, that's right, I don't give 2 shits what he could do to me. I'm gonna be myself, or he could just kill me." I looked at Darin.
"Well, that's just a fine nickname..that I hate." I looked at him with a smile. Then I got an idea. I focused on his thoughts, which I was getting use to, and wasn't as hard as it was when I first did it. "I hope you choose my son. He'd love you. And I'd really enjoy you in the family." My eyes widened at him. "What's wrong my dear?" He smiled.
"You want me in your family..." I snickered. His eyes widened, as if he didn't know I could do what I just did.
"How did you-" Darin started, but I cut him off.
"Oh, you don't know? I can read minds." I laughed. Robert just smirked at me with a nod.
"I should have expected as much. Come on my dear. We need to go change the ice pack." I double took his face.
"Ice pack?!"
"Yes, it's to keep your back at ease. Just like the heat pad that is at your ribs." He smiled.
"What was all that anyways?" 'And what about my ears and gums?'
"Don't worry my dear, all will be explained in time." I growled as he just smiled once more and led me out of the room, Darin looking at me in the weirdest way.
