Announcement: Tomorrow I will be quite busy so I won’t probably post again until, like, eleven at night. Then Tuesday is my birthday so I’m going to just chill and I probably won’t post. Please don’t message me telling to post again, okay? I deserve a break right? Okay, enjoy this chapter (if you want, you know).

“Let her go!” Dwayne screamed. Two guys now held him back and tied him up.

The must have been something on the ropes and the net because it looked like the vampires were being hurt by it. My parents and fake parents couldn’t get out even though they were humans. There were weights at the bottom of the net that looked impossible for any of them to lift.

Garret laughed evilly. “This time I’m not going to be as gullible. As you can tell, I’ve brought some of my friends to help me.” He said. One of his hands held both mine and the other softly brushed my cheek.

“What do you want?” Dwayne asked out of breath.

“A thousand dollars, a clean get away, and Keaira, of course.” Garret answered casually.

“Garret, why are you doing this?” I asked in a whisper. My voice seemed fragile compared to Dwayne’s’ and Garret’s.

“Keaira, I love you and I’m not going to let you waste your life away with him. We deserve to be together.” He answered. His hands moved down to my shoulder and I felt his lips brush my bare shoulder.

I tried to speak, but I didn’t know what to say. All I knew was I wanted to get away from him and back in Dwayne’s arms.

“Sir, I believe we cannot give Keaira away to you. We can give you a clean get away and a thousand dollars, but I’m afraid Keaira will not be able to depart with you.” Mr. Constantine said in a matter-of-fact tone.

I then realized that all the other people were still there watching us. I looked toward all my parents and they all looked scared. Actually, every one looked scared.

Garret laughed again with his same laugh. “ Like you are in a position to bargain.” Garret began. “I told you what I want and you will give it to me. I could easily have all of you killed in the next five seconds if I wanted to.”

“Garret, you can’t kill them.” I said quieter than a whisper. He seemed to hear me clearly.

“Oh, look at you. Princess Keaira. You think you have all this power now, don’t you? Well as you can see, I’m calling the shots here, not you.” He said.

“You were never one to be cruel.” I said in the same tone.

He laughed again. I didn’t find this situation funny one bit. “You must not know me very well, then.” He stated simply.

“You’re right and that’s why I don’t love you.” I spat back.

I could tell I got him where it hurt. He seemed stunned for a few seconds, but then recovered quickly. “You think your words can hurt me? I know for a fact that you don’t mean half the things you say. You’ve told Dwayne you love him right? Now would love him as much if he ever told where he went with his father? I believe he called it work?” Garret shot back.

Dwayne’s eyes squinted towards Garret evilly, clearly telling him to shut up.

“He’s not as perfect as you think he is. You know what he’d been doing?”

“As a matter of fact I do.” I lied.

“Oh really? You wouldn’t mind if I did the same to you then would you?” He said.

I felt two fangs barely touching my neck.

I began to cry silently.

No no no! This is not supposed to be happening right now! I’m supposed to be getting married. Not about to die. If he bites me, this time I could die . . . And even if I don’t die the baby probably won’t be able to suffer another bite

I stopped realizing that more than fifty vampires had been intently staring at me.

Damn.

“Baby?” Garret asked. I felt his fangs leave my skin. “Another. Who bit you before?”

“That’s none of your business.” I said angrily. Mostly angry at myself.

“You’re going to tell me.” He said tightening his grip on my arms. I yelped with pain.

“Let her go!” Dwayne said outraged. He kept squirming in the men’s grip behind him, but that didn’t seem to work.

“I haven’t even used all my strength on her yet, maybe we could see how much that information is worth.” He said squeezing tighter.

I shut my eyes trying to block out the pain.

He squeezed tighter and the tears came more quicker now.

“STOP!” Dwayne yelled, but Garret made no attempt to loosen his grip.

“Tell, me Keaira.” He whispered in my ear.

“Never!” I whispered back through gritted teeth.

He squeezed even tighter.

“Fine I tell you! Just stop!” Dwayne said.

Garret’s attention turned towards Dwayne now, though his grip did not relax.

“I’m waiting.”

“I-I bit her. It was an accident.” He said in a hushed tone.

“And the baby?” Garret asked.

“Keaira, she’s . . . pregnant.”

There was a series of gasps in the crowed of people which made me surprised. This was most emotion any of them had had the whole time.

“Is this true?” Garret asked in disbelief.

“Yes.” I whispered.

“But I . . . I think it’s time we get going Keaira.” He switched the conversation. “Boys, you know what to do.” He talked to the other bad guys.

Before I had time to say anything else, Garret picked me up with his free hand and ran away into the forest.

I got dizzy while looking around because we were moving at what seemed like the speed of light, but it only took a few seconds to get out of the forest and then down a road. After a minute I had to close my eyes to keep my head from exploding.

It wasn’t long before I felt Garret tie my hands with ropes and then threw me down on a flat surface. I opened my eyes just to seem him lock the only door of the room.

Dwayne, help!

He can’t hear you princess. It’s just you and me.
