Things Happen [Prologue]
Chapter 14 : Things Happen Chapter 12: Unexpected Visit
In this chapter, the little mentioned, Alexander shows up to have a talk with Mimi. Is the wedding called off? Will Mimi and Cam really be able to be together? Find out :)
“Well, I see.” Jameson said.
“Then, may I see her?” Alexander asked.
“Of course.” Jameson said letting him in and sitting him down in the living room, “I’ll go get her.”
Then Jameson went upstairs to my room and knocked on the door. Cam had just told me the news with my parents and I was just so happy. No we weren’t in bed just talking.
“Yes?” I asked opening the door, “JAMIE!!”
“My lady, you have a visitor that has requested a meeting with you.” Jamie told me.
“Well, alright. I go see this visitor. Will you take whoever it is to the gardens? I will meet you there shortly.” I said.
“Of course, my lady.” Jamie replied.
Then I went over to Cam and hugged him.
“So, I’ve got to go meet with some visitor so I’ll see you in a while, ok?” I told him.
“Okay, see you at lunch.” Cam said kissing me.
“Kay.” I said.
Then we both left my room; Cam went to his and I went into the gardens for that meeting. I walked into the gardens just swept into the amazing aroma of the roses complimented by the simple scent of lavender. I made my way to one of the garden tables that Jamie had escorted my visitor to.
“Hello, my name is Miamia Langly. It’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance.” I said extending my hand to the visitor.
“Believe me. The pleasure’s all mine.” Said the visitor then he softly kissed my hand.
“My lady, let me introduce you to Alexander Henry Croadia II.” Jamie said gesturing to my visitor who still held my hand.
“Oh well then, Alexander. It’s an even bigger pleasure to meet you.” I said nervously taking my hand back.
“The pleasure is still mine, my lady.” Alexander said.
The way he said that. My lady. It made me shiver. Not in a delightful, flattered way. I was a bit weird hearing him say that. No one other than Cam and Jamie have called me “my lady” so it feels really weird for him to call me that.
“Oh, that’s alright. You can call me Mimi.” I said.
“Mimi, it is then.” He said gesturing me to sit down.
“Alexander, I’ve been meaning to talk to you. You see—“ I began.
“And I to you.” He interrupted.
“Yes. Well, you see. I wanted to talk to you about the engagement. You seem like a really nice guy and you’re very handsome without all the dirt on your face but I just can’t go through with it.” I said.
“I understand. An arranged marriage wasn’t exactly how you saw yourself getting married.” He said.
“Exactly.” I agreed.
“I thought that you might feel that way. Which is why, I’d like it if we got to know each other. My father said that it would be wise if the two of us got to know each other before the wedding so that would ease off some of the tension.” He explained.
“Yes, that would be nice. But I’m not so sure about the getting married part. I would like to get to know you so we could do that, but I’m still very skeptical about that other part.” I said.
“I see. Then how about we go into town and I show you around. There’s a lot that you’ve missed.” He said.
“Oh. That’d be great! You could show me where all the stores are.” I said optimistically.
“If that’s what you wish.” He said.
“Yes. Could we go now?” I asked.
“Of course.” He agreed.
Then we got up and went back into the castle. I told him to wait at the foot of the stairs for me because I had to do something. I went upstairs to Cam’s room and knocked on the door.
“Hey baby. What is it?” Cam asked.
“Nothing.” I said kissing him, “I’m going to go out for a little while with that visitor of mine.”
“Alright babe, have fun.” He said smiling at me.
“And that visitor just so happens to be my fiancé.” I told him.
“So you’re going out with your fiancé?” he asked.
“Yes. But not on a date. Never. He’s just going to take me around town. Nothing more.” I reassured him.
“Well, I love you and I know that you love me too. So I trust you with your fiancé.” He said.
“Oh really? Thank you, baby.” I said hugging him.
“Oh. I like it when you call me that. Say it again.” He said and kissed me.
“I love you, baby.” I told him, “Okay I have to go now, so I’ll be back in a while.” And kissed him.
“Okay. Don’t be too friendly.” He said.
“Never.” I told him.
Then I went downstairs and rejoined with Alexander. We walked out to his car and went into town. Most of the car ride was him telling me how the kingdom’s going and how it’s changed from what I remember. I wasn’t completely listening because I was way too focused on what Cam would think. But to be honest, the only reason why I asked Alexander to go into town with me was because I was going to get a few things for lunch and he wanted to spend some time with me so I invited him. Hope he doesn’t think it’s a date or something. We arrived in town and I immediately asked him to take me to a mall.
“Alright, turn the corner. And…we’re here.” Alexander said showing me the amazingly enormous shopping mall.
“Okay. So where should we start?” I asked myself.
“How about the food court?” Alexander suggested.
“No, I’m not hungry. Are you?’” I asked.
“No, I thought you might be.” He said.
“Um, how about Zales.” I suggested, “I’d like to get something.”
“Alright, follow me.” He said taking my hand and leading the way.
Surprisingly so, the two of us were royalty which means that everyone and I mean EVERYONE in your kingdom knows who you are, and no one at this mall even asked if we really were the princess and prince. That’s good because it made it that much easier to get around.
“Why do you want to buy a watch?” Alexander asked me.
“Well, it’s because today is Cam’s birthday and I want to get him something special. In fact, I’m pretty sure he thinks that I forgot, but I have a surprise for him.” I said smiling.
“Oh well then, how about this one?” he suggested.
“No, not that one. I want to find one that’s crested with Cam’s birthstone.” I told him looking around.
“What’s his birthstone?” he asked.
“An emerald. His birthday is May 30.” I told him.
“I see, I saw the emerald crested watches over by the register.” He said.
“Alright.” I said walking over to the register and looked at all the watches on display.
“How do you like them.” The storekeeper said.
“They’re amazing. I’d…like……. this one.” I said slowly pointing to the silver watch crested with emerald stones.
“A very good choice, Princess.” The storekeeper said.
“Thank you.” I told him.
“Did you find one that you wanted?” Alexander asked.
“Yeah.” I answered paying the storekeeper.
Then we left and I went to a gift store to find a bag and a card. I found a small dark blue bag and a card saying “Happy Birthday, Handsome!” Then Alexander and I left the store and went to a dress shop. I went in to look for a dress that would blow Cam’s socks off. I looked around the whole store, Alexander following me all the way. Honestly, I couldn’t count how many girls asked for his autograph or an appointment to get his autograph. Finally, I found the perfect dress!! It was beautiful!! It was a short, knee length, red spaghetti strap dress that completely hugged every curve of my body with 2 splits on the side. It was the most beautiful dress I had ever seen; I was right about to give this dress a moment of silence for how beautiful and amazing it was!
“Okay so are we ready?” Alexander asked.
“Yes we are.” I joked.
“Alright, well then where to now?” he asked.
“A bakery.” I told him.
It was about 11:20am and I had to quickly get home to make lunch and hide Cam’s cake and present. We got to the bakery and I practically ran out of the car to the store. I got in and went straight to the counter.
“Excuse me ma’am, but may I get a large rectangular, vanilla cake with chocolate fudge icing? And the words: Happy Birthday, Cameron written on it with red icing?” I asked.
“Yes, of course. Princess.” She said.
“Thank you. And exactly how long will that take?” I asked.
“About 1 hour your highness.” She answered.
“Alright, then. I’ll give you my cell phone number and you can call me when my cake is ready.” I told her as I wrote down my number on a piece of paper.
“Yes, Princess.” She said hurrying off to the kitchen to make my cake.
“Okay, that’s it. Let’s head home.” I told Alexander as I got back into the car.
“You sure?” he asked.
“Of course. I’m going to go back to the castle to make my special lunch for Mother, Father, Jamie, Carver, and Cam. Then, after I’ve finished cooking my special lunch, I’ll quickly come back to the bakery to get the cake and then hurry back to the castle so that everyone can eat. Then when they’re done. I’ll wish Cam a happy birthday.” I explained.
“I see.” He said.
“Would you like to join us?” I asked.
“It won’t be a bother?” he asked.
“No way. After all, we’re getting to know each other aren’t we?” I said.
“Right. Then, if you insist, I’ll join you.” He said with a smile.
“Great.” I said smiling back.
Then the car arrived at the castle. Alexander and I got out and the car left…well was driven off somewhere. We entered the castle; me holding all the things I’d bought. I quickly went upstairs to my room and wrapped Cam’s present and hid it in the very back of my closet. Then I hurried to the kitchen and began to cook my special lunch.
“So, would you like some help?” Alexander asked.
“No that’s alright. It’s more special if I do it myself.” I said.
“Alright, Princess.” He joked.
“Really, call me Mimi. Remember. Now go, I don’t want you knowing my secret recipe.” I told him.
“Ok, Mimi.” He said with a chuckle and left.
I heard him walk outside to the gardens. Guess he liked the gardens just as much as I did. I quickly began cooking my seafood medley. I roasted and marinade the shrimp and put them on a platter. Then, I steamed the lobster and spread some butter and a pinch of salt over it and perfectly placed it on the same platter that the shrimp were on. Finally, I added some lettuce and topped it off with a tiny bit of garlic sauce. There was more than enough for everyone! The dish was very hot and knowing some things about science, the smell was going to rise upstairs and someone was going to come down. So knowing someone would try to get a piece before everyone else, I covered up the all the seafood so that the heat wouldn’t escape, but still cool over and placed a sign telling them that if they took even a small piece, I’d know and I wouldn’t forgive them. Mother and Father care way too much about me to make me dislike them even for a minute so I know they wouldn’t dare take a piece with that sign placed there. I quickly got Alexander from the gardens and we went back to the bakery to get the cake as soon as the woman called me.
“Thank you very much!” I told her satisfied with my cake.
“You’re very welcome, my lady.” The woman said smiling.
Then I got the cake into the car and we quickly went back to the castle. I got the unharmed cake out of the car and walked up the stairs of the castle into the kitchen to put it down. By the time we got to the kitchen, everyone was already downstairs talking amongst themselves. I quickly hid the cake and prepared the table and called everyone in to eat.
