The Earthquake Myth
The earth was created and gods were left to observe its wondrous glories spread. Each god in turn took their chance to choose a beautiful wife. But each god knew the boundaries of who they could choose. None of the wives could be of royal blood or promised to someone else. So once every hundred years the male gods would go down, become human for a year, and fall in love.
Then after over a million years of this ritual a young god was born. By the time he grew of age his hair was the color of the moon and he had eyes like Pluto. He was selfless, always helping those who needed the help. After some time passed it was his turn to go down to earth. Once on earth his hair turned chestnut brown and eyes dark blue. His stature was strong from all the long training days. Though his name as a god was Antonity his name as a human was Paul. And so he went to earth ready to find a wife.
Once on earth Paul searched and searched for a wife worthy of him. But something distracted him from finding the right girl. It was all the people who needed help. Paul was kind and generous, spending most of his time with homeless children and the old. He lost track of what he was suppose to do.
When almost all the year was used up his father came to him in a vision and told him to become selfish for once and find a woman. So he did. Paul dismissed the needy and went in search for a wife. After a long time of looking he found her. She was the most beautiful girl alive. Flowers, swans, and even the most beautiful diamond paled in comparison to her. She had black hair which flowed like a river and star-lit blue eyes. She was a frail girl and only one thing stopped Paul from having her. She was promised to another, the prince of the land next to hers. But Paul was convinced she had to be his.
So he became her servant, tending to her every need. Paul became her best friend and in turn found out her name. Juliet. They soon fell in love and couldn’t stay away from each other. She told him to wait for her one night by a river. So Paul went there and fell into her trap. She had not really fallen in love with him, but she knew he was a god and it was said if you were to kill a god and take their brain you would become one. And that is what Juliet was aiming for.
She rode horse back to the river and had her real love hide in the bushes. When she hugged Paul he knew something was wrong so he turned and the arrow which flew towards his back and was released by Juliet’s love hit Juliet. She died by fate in Paul’s arms and he grew hateful. His one love had tried to kill him.
Paul returned home to the heavens and lived only for one reason. He killed all gods in his anger, changed his name back to Antonity, and searched for Juliet. He would kill her again and again for deceiving him into making him think she loved him.
Antonity looked from the sky every day upon his earth and searched for Juliet. When he saw someone who looked like her he would take his fist and thrust it into the place where she stood or sat hoping to kill her. Therefore, causing earthquakes to rumble across the globe. Nowadays he still punches the earth when he sees one who looks like Juliet. He won’t stop until he is taken down or Juliet is truly dead.
