It had been hours since Wayhoney had last seen Link get pulled into the mystical black wall. No one in the village had yet noticed that the three of them (Wayhoney, Link, Colin) were still in the forest. A few more minutes had passed as the sun began to sink below the treetops and Wayhoney began to get very nervous. “What if they don’t come back? What if something bad happened to both of them?” The questions ran threw her mind.
Just then, a black wolf with white markings on its side and a little imp-like girl riding on his back jumped out of the wall. Wayhoney whinnied angrily in the wolf’s face. “Get away from me!” She shouted. “Wind, Wind! Stop! It’s me, Link!” Wayhoney’s jaw dropped. Link was an animal too?! “Sorry I can’t talk right now, gotta’ go to the spring.” He said taking off down the path. “No wait! Link I’m not…” she stopped talking as she realized Link wasn’t listening. Wayhoney sighed and chased after him, the whole time screaming “WAIT!”
She caught up with him as soon as he was in front of the spring. “Link I’m not Wind I’m…” She got cut off again by a giant burst of light that flashed from the spring. They both had to squint to look in its direction.
“Welcome chosen hero and fallen sage I am Ordona, one of the four light spirits than inhabit this world.” The light cleared reveling a massive creature that looked to be a mix of a wolf and a goat. He turned to Link. “Hero, you must travel to the three other light spirits. They’re light power has been stolen by the evil king of Twilight, Zant. The land in which the light power is gone will be covered in twilight, only then when you enter twilight will you be changed into a wolf. You are now released from your shadow prison.” The giant being waved his head and a bolt of light came from his horns and struck wolf Link in the forehead. He slowly transformed back into a human, but now he had a green tunic and hat along with brown boots and gloves. Link blinked several times to clear his head as the light spirit spoke.
“Your clothes are now the traditional Hero’s garb that had once been worn by the past chosen one.” Before Link could say anything else Ordona spoke to Wayhoney. “Now, great wind sage, since you have lost all your past memory I will tell you of what has happened. You, Wayhoney were once a powerful, all-knowing sage.” He was disrupted by Link. “Wa-Wayhoney? You’re a, a horse?! You’re Wind?”
Ordona began again. “Yes, hero. Your questions will be answered. As I was saying, Wayhoney you were once a sage, the sage of wind or as some call it air. However you committed great evil in the eyes of the other sages. But you must figure your crime out on your own. As a result of your “wickedness”, the sages binded you to the soil to live as a hylian. When we light spirits heard of the foolish punishment for your actions, we confronted the remaining sages. The four of us told them that your doing was of pure light and kindness only they wouldn’t listen. Eventually we talked them into letting you prove yourself worthy of your title. They agreed if you help the chosen hero defeat Zant then you could resume your sagely life. They also allowed you to keep one of your many powers, the power only the wind sage claims. The will to transform into four different creatures, a horse, a lion, a wolf, and a windhawk. The only way to obtain your next form is to travel to the next spring. When you step into the holy waters then you will have the power of the animal that first touched the spring (lion, horse, windhawk, or wolf) and when you wish to go back to your human form you must think as a human and wished to be one. You can transform into any animal if you have already discovered their spring anytime you want.
Also, you will not be able to go into any twilight areas until you find your animal form that allows you to enter and you won’t be able to go inside any temples, only your own that you once created. This is only because the sages agreed a long time ago not allow any other sages to enter their own temple for the other sages might damage it. Wayhoney, great wind sage, we light spirits are on your side. Find your hidden talents and lost memories. You are released of your horse form until you wish to contain its power again.” Ordona waved his head as he did with Link and a bolt of light hit Wayhoney in her forehead. She transformed into a human, but she fell limp to the shallow waters of the spring.
Link quickly dropped down on his knees beside her and lifted her head from the water. He looked down at her then back up at Ordona. “She isn’t as strong as you. You can tell by her body’s reaction to my magic. Hero, you cannot do this without her help. You must keep her safe, be her guide and shield. She needs you as much as you need her. Now go forth on your journey. Find the other light spirits and defeat Zant.” Another large flash of light came and Link shielded his eyes. He looked back up and Ordona was gone.
Wayhoney began to stir. Her eyes opened. She looked up at Link and smiled. “I remember it all now.” She said as she slowly drifted off again.
