Chapter 19
When you awoke, your vision was blurry, slowly things came into focus
you realised you were in the hospital wing.
Alone so it seemed.
But you weren't
you noticed in the corner, a dark shadowy form was sitting there, staring at you so it would appear.
Then you realised, the shadow was not staring, the shadow was sleeping.
It was Severus, Severus had stayed by your side.
He fussed in his sleep, then woke up, seeing you awake, he stood up and moved closer, moved into the light.
''So your not dead, Which surprised me, I expected you not to make It past 2 days, Not with how much blood loss you had, you foolish girl, What the hell do you think you are playing at?!''
''I'm sorry, I didn't see a way out, Why didn't you just leave me to die?''
with this remark, his face softened slightly
''Leave you to die? do you really think I am that heartless, heartless enough to leave you to die, You don't know me that well so it would seem madam''
You looked away from him, your eyes starting to sting with fresh tears which were threatening to fall, one slipped silently down your cheek.
Severus noticed, placed a hand on your shoulder and whispered
''I'm not here to make you cry, I'm here to apologise, I can see I was harsh, I didn't think, I was in shock, now I've thought about everything in retrospect, I'm ready to face up to it''
your heart began beating fast again, Does he still love me? You thought, yet still not daring to believe.
''I'm sorry for being so miserable about the situation, I have exchanged words with Minerva, she told me all what was said, and I understand how badly I reacted towards you before I even knew the full truth of it. Forgive me?''
You simply nodded.
Later on that week, you were released from the hospital wing, as you had recovered nicely, You had also been informed that there are only a small number of trains that go to and leave that station, one train to bring staff and students to Hogwarts at the start of term, one train to take them home for Christmas, one train to bring them back after Christmas, and of course one train to take them home at the end of the school year.
It is of course the same train every time. The hogwarts express.
It is now well established that you and Severus are back together, He seemed happier, and you of course were happy, The next evening during dinner, Severus was deep in conversation with Albus Dumbledore, every so often they would turn their heads and glance at you, then turn away and go back to talking, You assumed the conversation was about you.
All too soon your train of thought was cut off, by Dumbledore rising to his feet and standing infront of the table, tapping a crystal goblet with a fork.
''Teachers and students may I have your attention please''
the old man began
all heads turned towards his old, yet youthful smiling face..
''I have just learned some wonderful and exciting news from one of our teachers, Professor Severus Snape....Would you like to reveal the news to them all yourself Severus?''
asked the kindly elder-wizard, with a cheeky smile on his aged face.
Severus blushed and cringed, but none-the-less, got to his feet and took over.
He cleared his throat and began.
''As you all well know, I have an Assistant, Miss 'Name', and...well, what some of you may not know, and I don't expect any of you to know...is, that, There is more to us than being collegues, We are an item, and very happy together, which I expect you all will accept''
The room grew silent, except for those whom the news did actually shock, the shocked ones either gasped, or sniggered quietly among their friends.
''I am not finished!''
Severus said raising his voice''
''Aside from our relationship, we are also to have a child, Miss 'Name' is indeed expecting, It is something we both want''
A few people applauded, and a few laughed, and again a few gasped, it was hard for some of the students, especially Gryffindors, even a couple of Slytherins, to believe that the crabby potions master whom even his favourite Slytherin students feared if he were in a bad mood, was indeed liasing with an actual woman, and especially that the usually so introverted Severus was now telling everyone in the great hall of his happiness, relationship and forming child!
''Who'd have thought that greasy git would ever get a girlfriend, I mean she must be barking bloody mad to get with Snape!''
Ron whispered to Harry, who did not seem to be paying attention, Hermione had heard though...
''So what Ron? Everyone is entitled to a relationship, even Professor Snape, and anyway, I don't see YOU with any girls Ronald....''
Hermione retorted at him, secretly rather displeased of Severus' happiness, for some odd reason, it was not that she had a crush on him, because she didn't, she just happened to like his harsh yet precise teaching methods, and was worried that if he was in a good mood from now on, that he would maybe be less effective in teaching, or maybe even loose his ability to teach...
''Hey I have lots of girls wanting some of me!''
Ron said to her, in a slightly angsty indignant manner
''No, any girls that pay attention to you are probably only interested in you to get with Fred or George''
She knew what she had said was very harsh, but she was just in a bad mood.
''It's still a bloody joke though, old greasy Snape getting a girl and a baby, when will the madness end...''
''When everyone is finished jabbering....''
Snape shouted over the din that had taken the great hall.
Once again gaining everyone's attention.
''I have a few more words to say...''
He looked over at you, and held out his arm gesturing you to come and stand by his side, which you did, blushing wildly as you did so.
The next thing he did shocked you, He reached into the pocket on the inside of his robes, fumbled around for a few seconds, then finally brought out a small black box, he got down on one knee, opened the box and revealing the contents inside, it was a beautiful white gold ring adorned with 2 black stones at either side of a big blue diamond.
With a shaking hand he said in a trembling voice...
''Miss 'first name' 'last name', In this year, so far, you have made me the happiest I can ever remember being, you have brought a meaning to my life, and all the joyful extras that come with it, If I may be so bold, I would like to ask you a question, If I give you this ring as a small token of my love that is already present, and still growing, which will forever continue to grow, Will you do me the honour of becoming my wife?''
His words were so beautiful, you felt warm tears fall down your face yet again, yet these were tears of joy.
''Severus..I, I don't know what to say''
You covered your mouth while giggling in ecstasy.
'' Severus, I will marry you, I would love to be Mrs Severus Snape, I will''
He stood up again, and gently slipped the beautiful ring onto your finger.
He pulled you into his arms and kissed you passionately, like you had never been kissed before.
Everyone in the hall, students and teachers were all caught up in this precious moment and all erupted into cheers.
