Most people call it Hell. Some think of it as the Underworld. I like to call it home.

What mortal people think of it is wrong. Sinners don’t go to Hell when they die. No one goes to Hell at all, and I don’t see why anyone would want to. People go to Heaven. Or, what they create in their minds to be Heaven. Everyone’s Heaven is different, but most minds think of their relatives and pets, and clouds and the sun. Hence the reason why all mortals think Heaven is actually a bright, golden place, when really it’s just what the mind creates it to be.

And people thought that Heaven should have an opposite. That’s how Hell came into view. Everyone taught their children that they needed to be a good little boy or girl, otherwise they would never be accepted into Heaven and go straight to Hell.

Well, that’s not really the case.

The only things that live in Hell are demons. Demons of all shapes and sizes. And when I say that, I mean it literally, as in there’s no limit on how big, or small, they can be. Some can be damn ugly too, but I know several that are the most beautiful creatures someone would even see in their life. And, contrary to most peoples beliefs about demons, we’re all fairly intelligent. Some are smarter than others, as with every species and race, but none of us are mindless, animalistic idiots that survive by drinking blood.

Explaining demonic powers isn’t that hard. I’m sure just about every mortal has heard of the 7 Deadly Sins. Here in my home sweet home, Hell, we use them to classify our devils, only we use the Latin terms instead of modern English. I’ll just run the list off for good times sake. Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy, Pride. Each type of demon has a unique type of ability to go along with it, but I won’t list them all right now because honestly, I’m too much of a slacker to remember all of them.

It’s more or less an alternate world here. Dark, dreary, barren. We do have what we need to survive, which isn’t much. Hell is not located underground, or at the center of the Earth. No one can walk to Hell one day and just stumble across it. Nor can someone take a jet plane to Hell, or a rocket ship. Or a submarine. Anyway, the bottom line is, no human could get to Hell even if they wanted to. Sometimes there are acceptances, but that’s only very, very, extremely rarely. No mortal is to know about Hell. Us demons plan to be the superior race, and so far, our plan is working.

“Kiko! What the hell are you doing?!”

“Huh? What? What time is it?” I was almost asleep! Damn him!

“You forgot about the Devil Council Meeting today, you moron. Get your ass of the couch and get going!”

I sighed and pulled my hood over my eyes. “Screw the Devil Council, I’m sleeping…”

Even thought I had my eyes closed, I could tell Jasper crossed his arms. “Kiko, you’re the single most important demon in this whole world, and don’t even try to tell me different.” I felt myself smile. Yeah, that might be true… “You’re the reason why the Devil Council even exists. You can sleep later, it’s probably something important.”

I groaned. “That’s what they tell me every time I go to one of those Council Meetings, and they’re just so boring! But I guess I’ll go just because I don’t have anything better to do.” I sat up and took my hood off to smile up at Jasper, the guy who I live with. We’re not dating or anything, we just sort of live together.

Jasper wasn’t ugly like some of the demons I know. He had a dark head of hair, but what was cool about him was that he had horns, above his ears. They weren’t long and sharp, but short and sort of curved forwards to point ahead of him. I was always jealous of them. He had beady eyes, I guess someone could say that. All black, which was also really cool. Another thing was that he had a long, skinny, stone-like tail. It almost reminded me of a mouse’s tail, but I would never say that to him.

As for me, if I were to compare myself to a mortal, I look completely the same, besides having bright pink hair. No one knows why, that’s why everyone is obsessed with me in this world. Demons aren’t born. Demons are created. There’s no such thing as a demon baby. I was created, and I look exactly like a human , but I am most definitely a demon. Actually, not to brag, but I’m the most special demon in all of Hell. I have no classification of demon power, I can basically just do whatever the hell I want to with my demonic abilities.

I guess in the human world, society would label me the Grim Reaper.
