It was around 6 in the morning and Onyx was still walking around the Castle That Never Was. That was quickly becomming her favorite past time, just walking around thinking. Even though Xemnas had cleared one of the rooms for Onyx to stay in, she hasn't stepped one foot in it. It was still empty, waiting to be filled with all of Onyx's personal things. But that was just it, Onyx didn't have any personal things to fill the room with. When Onyx first woke up in the white room, she had no personal belongings, no ID, nothing. Just the clothes she was wearing, which were quickly stripped from her as her wardrobe was changed to the black cloaks.
~
Earlier that morning, Onyx had gone into the castle's library and found some information about Roxas and Sora. Things not everyone knew. Onyx had a feeling that she could connect with Roxas. Neither of them could remember anything about their former lives, and both of them joined the organization with no where else to go. Onyx thought that this information could come in handy.
~
Onyx sighed as she walked into a large room with a purple floor. She glanced around and noticed a balcony over head. Just before she was about to leave, a portal appeared at the balcony. Onyx stopped and waited to see who it was.
"Onyx, I knew you'd be in here!" A tall older man stepped out of the portal. He had long dark hair and an eye patch. The portal dissapeared as he walked to the edge of the balcony and looked over at Onyx. Onyx didn't say anything.
"Why don't you talk much? Do I intimidate you?"
Nothing.
"Are you secretly angry that you were forced to join the Organization without any say-so?"
Nothing.
"Do you have a secret of some kind?"
Nothing.
"Do you just not like talking?"
Onyx nodded her head and turned to walk away.
"Wait! there was a reason I came for you!" Onyx stopped and looked back up at the elder member. If memory served correctly, this was Xigbar, number two in the organization.
"The Superior wants to see you. He says it's about your mission with Roxas," Xigbar said. Onyx nodded her head.
"Is he being very patiant this morning?" Onyx asked. Xigbar gave her a confused look.
"Is he being patiant? When is the Superior patiant?" Xigbar chuckled.
"Then I'll take a portal instead of walking," Onyx mumbled opening up a portal. Before Xigbarcould say anything else, Onyx had already stepped through the portal.
~
Onyx stepped into the white room and noticed that Axel was already there. He turned his head and looked at her.
"It's about time you got here," he stated. Onyx ignored him and looked up at Xemnas.
"Good. Now that you're both here, I need you to go talk to Roxas again," Xemnas started. Axel folded his arms across his chest.
"Talk to him? What if he doesn't respond?" Axel asked. Xemnas looked down at Axel with a frown.
"Destroy him." Onyx noticed Axel tense up.
"Understand?" Xemnas asked. Onyx turned and opened up a portal to Twilight Town.
"Onyx, do not let Roxas see you. He doesn't need to know that any more of us exist," Xemnas instructed. Onyx nodded, her back to Xemnas. Axel seemed to be frozen in place.
"Do you understand Axel?" Xemnas asked. Axel didn't respond.
"...Number VIII!" Xemnas hissed. Axel jumped slightly and nodded his head.
"Y-Yes Superior," he stammered. Onyx waited until Axel turned and stepped into the portal before she followed behind him.
~
The portal opened up in front of the doorway to the Usual Spot. Axel and Onyx stepped out and noticed Roxas standing right in front of them with his back to them. Onyx pulled up her hood to a point that Roxas couldn't see her face. Hearing the noise of the portal close, Roxas turned around.
"Look at what it's come to. I've been given these icky orders to destory you-if you refuse to come back with me," Axel said, scratching the back of his head. Roxas stared at him and then glanced at Onyx.
"We're.....best friends, right?" he asked. Axel sighed.
"Sure...but I'm not getting turned into a Dusk for...." Axel then stopped and looked up at Roxas in surprise.
"Wait a sec! You remember now!?" Axel gasped. Roxas slowly nodded his head.
"Yeah...." he said. Onyx stared at Roxas. That 'yeah' sounded unsure.
He doesn't remember, Onyx thought to herself.
"Great! But, you know, gotta make sure and all. So, ummm...." Axel thought for a moment.
"What's our boss's name?" he asked. Roxas stared at him for a moment and then shook his head. Onyx noticed the joy in Axel's face fade away.
"Can't believe this...." he mumbled. Two Dusk and one Assassin nobodies appeared and attacked Roxas. While Roxas summoned his keyblade and faught back, Onyx glanced at Axel. He was staring at Roxas, almost longingly.
"He doesn't remember, there's nothing we can do about it." Onyx stated. Axel sighed.
"I know...but I just can't help but have just a tiny glimmer of hope that he'll remember me." Axel shook his head and glanced at the ground. He then glanced up at Onyx.
"Can you do me a favor?" he asked. Onyx stared at him, not saying anything.
"I won't be able to destroy him....I know it. If I make him weak, can you finish him for me?" Axel requested. Onyx was surprised for a moment. Axel was showing her so much emotion that it was becoming strange. She knew very well that Nobodies couldn't feel anything, yet Axel seemed to pull it off. Before she had anymore time to think, Roxas pointed his keyblad at Axel. The Dusks and Assassin defeated, it was Axel's turn to fight. Axel frowned and summoned his chakrams. He held up one to attack, but he froze. Onyx went to nudge him, but she was frozen too. She could see, but she couldn't move her body. Roxas was seen from the corner of her eye. He stared at Axel for a moment and then looked at the ground as if in concentration. He then looked up and ran off towards the Tram Common. Right as Roxas was gone, Onyx and Axel were un-frozen. Axel let out an aggrivated sigh and threw his chakram at the wall, leaving a large hole in the wall. Digital matirial surrounded the wall and stuck to the parts that were broken, making it look completely new.
"The Roxas that I know is long gone. Fine, I see how it is...." Axel sighed. Onyx stared off into the direction that Roxas went for a moment.
"Let's go after him," Onyx said. Axel glanced at her.
"What?"
"Let's go after Roxas....I have some things to tell him," Onyxwhispered turning and going towards the Tram Common.
~
Onyx and Axel follow Roxas to the old mansion, keeping at a safe distance and making sure to be hidden. When Roxas got into the mansion, another man in an Organization cloak appeared with other nobodies. He began to fight them with a strange looking sword.
"He's not part of the Organization...." Axel mumbled. Onyx turned and summoned a portal.
"Let's go," she said. Axel nodded and quickly went into the portal. Onyx followed him and quickly closed it.
~
Inside of the mansion in the main living area, Onyx and Axel stepped out of the portal. Axel turned to Onyx.
"What if DiZ catches us?" he asked. Onyx shook her head.
"He won't," she said. Axel sighed.
"I hope I can trust you. I'll go down stairs and wait for him...." Axel began to walk to the stairs, but then stopped and looked back at Onyx.
"Wait, what do you plan to do first?" he asked. Onyx looked around.
"I'm just going to talk to him. If you plan to fight him, you'll get him with no scratch from me. Meet in front of the Usual Spot when you're finished," Onyx said. Axel nodded and then turned to the stairs. Xemnas had given Axel and Onyx a layout of Twilight Town a few days earlier so they would know the town before they stalked Roxas. With the town map came a blue print of the old mansion, where DiZ was hiding his headquarters. Onyx heard the door to the library close behind Axel. She then walked to the stairs on the left and placed her hand on the dusty rail. She walked up the stairs and looked to the door on the left. Onyx knew that this was the White Room, the room where a girl named Namine' was staying. Apparently she had some connection to DiZ and Roxas.
"Let her go!" Onyx noticed that was Roxas's voice from inside the room and stopped walking. She heard a deeper voice then, and then a girl's voice. Roxas wasn't alone.
I can't go in there yet....Onyx thought. She stood at the top of the stairs and waited until all of the talking stopped. She waited three more seconds and then walked to the door. Turning the handle, she opened the door and was almost blinded by how bright the room was. Roxas was standing at the end of the table looking at the ground. Onyx turned and closed the door behind her. Hearing the door close, Roxas looked up.
"Oh great," Roxas mumbled, glaring at Onyx.
"What do you want? You want to tell me that I was never ment to exsist, too? Or are you with that Organization XIII and here to kill me?" Roxas hissed. Onyx walked over and sat down in the chair at the oposite end of the white table. She held her hand out to the chair next to Roxas.
"Please sit, we have alot to discuss," Onyx said kindly. Roxas sat down and stared at Onyx.
"Alot has happened to you in the past six days. I hear your summer vacation is almost over," Onyx stated. Roxas tilted his head to the side.
"Who are you?" Onyx paused fora moment and the pulled her hood from her head. She shook her long hair out of the hood and ran her gloved fingers through her hair to make sure it wasn't sticking up.
"My name is Onyx, and yes, I am with Organization XIII," she stated. Roxas glared at her.
"So you're the one who's with Axel! You want to kill me too!?" Roxas spat. Onyx slowly shook her head.
"I know about everyhting that has been happening to you. I only came here to tell you all about it," Onyx said. Roxas's eyes got wider.
"Really?....But...why?" he asked. Onyx thought for a moment.
"You may not know me, and I may not know you, but we have alot in common," Onyx paused, "How about I start from the begining." Onyx noticed there was a sketch pad and some crayons on the table in front of her. She picked them up and opened to a clean page.
"That's Namine's," Roxas stated. Onyx said nothing and began to draw a picture.
"Do you know what you are, Roxas?" Onyx asked. Roxas looked down at the table.
"I'm not sure any more," he said. Onyx nodded her head.
"You are like me. We are things called Nobodies." Roxas looked up at her.
"That's what Namine' said, but what's a Nobody?" he asked. Onyx didn't look up from her drawing.
"Come over here, Roxas and see this picture," She instructed. Roxas did as he was told and went to Onyx's side. There was a picture of a stick figure, what looked like a black animal with long anttenas, and those white things that were sighted all over Twlight Town. Onyx pointed to the stick figure.
"This is person," she said. Roxas nodded.
"This is what is called a Heartless. They go around and steal people's hearts," Roxas gasped.
"Like, really? With all of the blood and everything!?" Roxas asked. Onyx shook her head.
"No, the person is still alive, but they are just dead to the world. They do not feel, think, nothing. They are turned to dolls. But when a person looses their heart, they are transformed into a Heartless. When that happens, something else is created, too." Onyx pointed to the white creature.
"This also creates a thing called a Nobody. If the person who lost their heart had a weak heart, they would probably turn into a weaker Heartless and Nobody, but it's a different story when someone with a strong heart looses theirs..." Onyx flipped the page and began to draw again.
"This is Sora...." Onyx said, drawing another stick figure with spikey hair. She then drew an arrow pointing away from him.
"One day, Sora lost his heart, giving it to Kairi. Because of this act, Sora became a Heartless," Onyx drew a picture of a heart and another Heartless. She then drew an arrow pointing away from the Heartless. She then drew a stick figure with spikey hair similar to Roxas's hair.
"When Sora turned into a heartless, you were created. You are Sora's Nobody," Onyx set the crayon down on the table. Roxas just stared at the picture for a moment.
"So that's what they ment when I was half of Sora," he mumbled. Onyx held her hand out to the chair across from the table. Roxas walked back and sat down.
"So, what's going to happen now?" he asked. Onyx sighed.
"Axel is waiting for you dowstairs. He plans to fight you, but he will not win. He told me that you were very good friends when you were in the Organization," Onyx said. Roxas shrugged his shoulders.
"I guess. I don't remember," he then looked back up at Onyx.
"Did I know you?" Onyx shook her head.
"No. I joined the Organization after you left," she said. Roxas nodded and glanced down at the table.
"But, on the matter of what's going to happen to you...." Roxas looked back up.
"You shouldn't believe every word of this, because I'm not really sure what will happen...." Onyx paused and put her words together carefully.
"Namine' said that I was going to dissapear," Roxas said. Onyx nodded her head.
"I'm guessing that Sora is in this building, and is waiting to join together with you. Sora is in a deep sleep and isn't able to wake up without you. You will probably join with Sora and dissapear...physically," Onyx said slowly. Roxas tilted his head to the side.
"Physically?" Onyx nodded.
"You will still be here mentally, you will probably affect the way Sora feels about certain places....." Onyx paused again, "You had friends here, right?" she asked. Roxas nodded.
"When you combine with Sora and he meets your friends, he will probably feel like he's seen them some where befor, but that's only because you can remember them," Onyx explained. Roxas nodded slowly. There was a long silence between the two of them.
"Why are you telling me all of this?" Roxas asked. Onyx thought.
"As I said before, we are alike. When we joined the Organization, we had no memory of our former lives. We had no where else to go and we didn't know ourselves. I just thought that...." Onyx trailed off.
"The Organization's plans are to collect as many hearts as they can so they can find their own hearts and become whole agian. That is their mission.....You are already half way to fulfilling our goal," Onyx said, almost saldy. Roxas gave her a confused look.
"When you join with Sora, he will become whole again, something that all of us in the Organization want. I told you all of that because I didn't want you to become complete without knowing who you really were," Onyx finished. Roxas stared her for a moment. Onyx seemed older than himself. She had pretty aqua green eyes and long black and red hair. She glanced down at the table and then stood up.
"I hope this helps. I must leave now," Onyx said, opening a black portal. Roxas jumped up and walked over to Onyx's side.
"Wait, will I ever meet you again?" he asked. Onyx looked at Roxas. She might have been older than him, but he was a goodthree inches taller than her (DS:I'm guessing he's 5'6"). Onyx sighed and looked at the portal.
"I don't know...." she whispered. Roxas thought for a moment.
"Well....If I become Sora, and you meet Sora, then you'll know that it's me, right?" Roxas asked. Onyx slowly nodded.
"So you have to promise me something," Roxas said, grabbing onto Onyx's hand. Her hand was rather cold, like ice. Onyx glanced up at him.
"When you meet Sora....speak to me....and I'll know...." Roxas said quietly. Onyx stared into Roxas's sky blue eyes for a moment and then sighed and nodded her head. Roxas smiled and opened the door. Onyx turned to the portal and took a step inside.
"Thank you, Onyx. I'll never forget you...." Roxas said. Onyx nodded her head and fully stepped into the portal.
~
An hour after arriving at the Usual Spot, Axel appeared. He stumbled out of his portal and towards Onyx.
"I couldn't defeate him," Axel whispered. His legs then gave out and he fell into Onyx's arms. Onyx caught Axel and let out a slightly painful sigh. Because Axel was the element of fire, his body tempurature was abnormally high. And because Onyx was the element of ice, her body tempurature was abnormally low. So when Axel touches Onyx, her skin burns because of his heat. This is very dangerous as Onyx is not used to hot tempuratures.
~
Onyx quickly opened up a portal and went in, teleporting them to the white room in the Castle That Never Was. Onyx stumbled out of the portal with a passed out Axel in her arms.
"Onyx...? Axel!?" Xemnas gasped, looking down at them. The portal dissapeared as Onyx dropped Axel carelessly to the ground. Onyx then fell to the ground herself, breathing rather hard. Xemnas quickly snapped his fingers. Two more portals appeared. Xigbar and Xaldin stepped into the room.
"Superior, you called?" Xaldin asked.
"Onyx!? Axel!?" Xigbar gasped. He knelt down beside Onyx and placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Take these two to the infermary, I'll talk with them later," Xemnas said quickly. The second and third in command nodded and they each picked up their younger members. They stepped back into the portals and took them to the infermary.
~
When Onyx awoke, she was laying in a small white room on a white bed. She tryed to sit up, but the pain on her chest, stomache, and arms hurt so bad. It felt like her body was on fire, which wasn't a good thing. Onyx noticed that she didn't have cloak on. all she had on was a black tank top and black leggings that reached right above her knees. This what she aways wore under the skin tight cloak. Onyx managed to lift up her burning arm and pull up her shirt slightly to look at her stomache. It was neatly wrapped in clean white bandages.
"Onyx, you're awake!" Onyx looked to the door and noticed Demyx had stepped in. She saw that he had a vase of white lillies in his hands.Demyx walked over and placed them on the night stand next to the bed.
"I heard that you were burned badly yesterday. Did you and Axel get into a fight?" Demyx asked, sitting on the bed next to Onyx. Onyx lowered her shirt and shook her head.
"So what happened...?" Demyx asked slowly. He wasn't sure if Onyx would talk to him or not. She was always so quiet and hardly talked to anyone. If she did say something, it was probably to Axel and 99% chance it was an insult or threat. Onyx looked at her banadged arms.
"Axel is still sleeping. He looked like he took a real beating...." Demyx said. Onyx nodded.
"He faught with Roxas and lost," Onyx said quietly. Demyx glanced at her.
"Oh,"
"He stumbled out of a portal and fell into my arms and I had to carry him...that's probably where I got these burns," Onyx said, staring down at her bandaged hands. Demyx gave her a very confused look.
"How could you get burned from just catching Axel?" he asked. Onyx only held out her hand.
"Touch my hand," she said. Demyx glanced at her once more before carefully placing his hand ontop of hers.
"You're as cold as ice!" Demyx gasped, pulling his hand away.
"Since I hold the power of ice, my body tempurature is naturally very cold. Axel has the power of fire, so his body tempurature is very hot. When Axel touches me, my body burns because it's so cold. It's probably just like a bad sun burn..." Onyx explained. Demyx nodded his head slowly.
How could these people live with such abnormal body tempuratures...? Demyx thought to himself.
"You know, before you became a member in the Organization, we had another Nobody who had the power of ice," Demyx said. Onyx looked up at him.
"His name was Vexen, the Chilly Academic. And from I hear from the other members, he was pretty crazy," Demyx said smiling. Onyx just stared at Demyx, not smiling. Demyx nervously laughed and looked away.
"Thank you for the flowers," Onyx said. Demyx looked up and noticed Onyx was looking at the lillies.
"Oh, you're welcome. I got them from Hallow Bastion-"
"Normally lillies mean death to the person who is sick, but I know you didn't mean it that way," Onyx cut his off. Demyx gasped.
"W-What!? I didn't know that! I'm so sorry! I really didn't mean it that way!!" Demyx said, pulling at his hair. Onyx only nodded and slowly sat up.
"Oh, y-you shouldn't move, Onyx. You're still very hurt," Demyx said. Onyx ignored him and placed her hand on her stomache. An icey mist spilled from the palm of her hand and onto her stomache. She moved her hand over all of her burns and let out a relaxed sigh.
"I feel much better already," she said, leaning agianst the backboard of the bed. Demyx was confused.
"I used my ice powers to cool down the burns. They should heal faster now," Onyx said closing her eye. Demyx nodded.
"Well then, I'll leave you to rest." Demyx said standing up. Onyx nodded, her eyes still closed as Demyx left the room.
