But it didn’t stop, as soon as we were on the bus again Em was on the phone to Lou and they were bitching on speaker phone. I put my head phones in and tried to sleep, just as I was nearly there I was woken by Gabe.

“We’re going to find a Starbucks, you coming?” he asked laughing.

“Yeah, let me find my jacket.” I yawned; he held it up and pulled me away.

Outside was a mini van packed full of Cobra and the Stylists, I felt a little out of place until we got going.

“There were nights when the wind was so cold!” Kyle sang loudly, now I knew I recognized him, he sang to get the crowds going at that bar the last time we played a show before the girls went to college.

“And my body frozen in bed if I just listen to it right outside the window.” Maggs joined in.

“There were days when the sun was so cruel!” I hollered before everybody else sang joining in.

“And all the tears turned to dust and I just knew my eyes were drying up forever. When you touch me like this, and you hold me like that. It’s so hard to believe that it’s all coming back to me.”

The emotion in Maggs eyes was real; at least it looked real. I wanted to hold her and make her happy, but I knew at the same time, she was happy here, singing power ballads next to her best friend in the company of new ones.

As we stood in the queue at Starbucks I was behind Maggs. “I know you probably don’t want to talk about it, but are you alright? It looked like Em smacked you good and proper.”

“Yeah she smacked me, but I mark really easily, I’m a toughen, thanks for worrying I suppose.” She laughed picking a big slice of chocolate cake. “Looks a bit dry so I’ll have to have a nice big hot chocolate as well.” she cackled.

“I like your way of thinking, I may have to say the opposite though. This looks sticky.” I said picking up a slice of cheesecake. “So I’ll need a coffee to get it off my teeth.” She laughed and moved forward.

“How have you been in the last few years then?” she asked as we sat down on a sofa already packed with people.

“Not bad just the normal hick ups.” She nodded and got up, pulling a chair round so she could eat without getting messed up.

“Bitch you got the last cake!” Kyle whined pointing at Maggs, laughing she held it up as he took a large bite out of it. “Chocolate is my replacement drug, oh I love it.” He said as his eyes rolled backwards.

“Along with shoes and amazing CD collection.” Maggs whispered to me.

“Margaret I hope your not telling William all my failings.”

“No, not all, the rest I shall tell Polly.” She teased, for punishment Nate sat on her as Kyle stole the rest of her cake.
