Chapter 23

*Selina's POV*

"Expecto Patronum!" I cried. Nothing happened. I was getting frustrated. That was me 5th try. I had to be able to do this. And I was sick of Harry telling me that I had to think of a happier memory.

"I know, shut up," I muttered to him. I thought about a good memory, and I came up with one after a while. I cried the incantation again, but still nothing.

Just then, Harry called the DA to go into 2 rows. "OK," he said. "so who wants to try the Patronus Charm infront of everyone?" After a slight hesitation, I stepped forewards. "I'll try it." Harry nodded and let me come up.

It was kind of stupid, since I hadn't done it yet, but it was worth a shot. I thought of a very happy memory. I grinned. If that wasn't a good memory, then nothing was. I braced myself.

"Expecto Patronum!" I cried with all my streingth. A silver fox burst out of my wand. Everyone around me gasped. It did a circle around the room of requirement and then it faded. Then, or course, Dobby came. When we heard that Umbridge was coming, I was the first to bolt. Before this could sink in for anyone, I was aleady out the door. Then-

Crash.

I was hit by a knockback jinx. Damnit, I thought as I fell.

"Professor, i've got one!" I knew that voice. Draco Malfoy. I wonder how he'll take this?

"Oh my God, Selina?" he asked. "You're with them?" I didn't answer, as I saw the old toad walking towards me.

"Oh, fu-"

"There will be no language like that in this school, miss Carter," she said, then shook her head. "You had so much potential, but you had to join this gang on teenagers. Pour soul."

I knew that it was all a load of crap.

When 2 of the Inquisitorial squad were ordered to grab me, I bolded for the second time that night. Stupid, stupid me.

"Well, you can come up to the Headmaster's office along with mr Potter, miss Carter." Umbridge said sweetly when I was caught again. So I was brought to Dumbledore's office with Harry. I tried to attack the Inquisitorial squad member that was leading me, so the old toad was leading me instead. I was tempted to attack her, too, but I didn't push my luck. The minister was with the headmaster when we arrived..

"Hello, minister," said Umbridge. "I brought mr Potter here because he is the leader of this little group. Miss Carter tried to attack sevral members of the Inquisitorial squad, so I brought her along too."

"Carter, huh?" Fudge asked. "Well, as they say, like father like daughter."

I had an urge to hit him. But, since he was the Minister of Magic, I decided not to. I just glowered at him.

So, i'm going to skip through the next little bit, since it's in the book. If you really want to know, go get the 5th book.

So, everyone in Dumbledore's Army got detentions, and a lot of them. Since i'd already had detention with Umbridge, I got to keep writing 'I must not talk back to teachers.'

In June, Harry and Ron approached me. They said they wanted to talk to me.

"Okay, uh," Ron started to say. "We came here to say we were sorry."

"Yeah, Harry continued. "All year you've hated us, so, yeah, we didn't mean to say you were a Death Eater, it just, well, slipped out."

They waided for my response. "If I forgave you, I need something in return." I said.

"What?" the 2 boys asked at once.

"I want to go find Sirius at the Ministry with you and Hermione." I told them. I almost smiled at their looks. "Sirius is my friend as much as he is yours."

"How'd you know that Sirius was in the Ministry?" they asked.

"Anyone could have overheard you when you were talking about it with Hermione. Your lucky no one else did. Well?"

"I guess you could come. If someone catches us, you'll be thrown into Azkaban with us." Hermione walked around the corner. "Wow, Hermione," I said to her. "Your as good at hiding as I am. I never noticed you."

When the trio were trying to see if Sirius was at his place, I kept watch with Luna.

When Umbridge caught us, I was left in the office with the Inquisitorial Squad. Draco was the one that was making sure I didn't escape.

"I'll let you go, Selina," he whispered so no one heard. "I owe you for making Umbridge catch you."

"No," I whispered back. "I'd rather stay here. Well, i'd rather not stay here, but I have something to do with my other friends."

"What have you got to do?" he asked, still whispering.

"I dunno if I should tell you," I said, stalling.

"But-"

"Now!" I cried, and kicked Draco in the gut. Ginny, Neville, Ron and Luna all hit one of the squad. We retrieved our wands and made a break for it. I looked back for a minute and tried to give Draco a look that said I didn't mean what I just did.

We met Harry and Hermione near the forest, and we went to the Ministry on thestrals. The Department of Mysteries was pretty cool, I had to admit. Then, when the Death Eaters came, everything turned into chaos. I should have known that making Harry think Sirius was here was a trick, even if it was a good one.

So we fought. I stunned alot of Death Eaters, but we were still struggleing. I blasted a mask off one of them, and was scared as hell to see Simon Carter standing not 6 feet away from me.
