At any rate, here's your story...

I stretched as I woke up and yawned.

I looked around the room for dead boy, but he wasn't there.

With a slight frown on my face, I shuffled out of my bed and into the bathrom.

I washed my face, straightened my white-blonde hair, took a deep breath and went downstairs for breakfast.

A post-it was on the refrigerator.

It said, "Ash, I went to work early. I have a patient to see very late tonight, since Dr. Smith is sick, so I will be staying at my old friend's house tonight. There's money in the teakettle in the china cabinet if needed. I'll miss you and enjoy your car! Love, Mom."

"You know, if I were a stranger, I could totally go blow all of your mom's money right now. Tsk tsk. You guys need to work on your paranormal safety. Ghosts would be great thieves, you know."

You turned around to see Jackle leaning against a wall, crossing his arms.

"Well, then I guess it's good that we aren't strangers, huh?" I bit my lip and reached for his hands. I held them a moment, then gave him a big hug.

"Whoa, warn a boy before you do that! I might have a heart attack."

I giggled and playfully punched his arm.

"Alright, ghosty, settle down."

I got out my usual breakfast, milk and oreos and sat down while chewing.

"Ghosty? Another nickname? I can't keep up with you, Ash!"

I laughed again.

"Heart healthy, this morning, I see."

I nodded playfully and offered him one.

He smirked and mouthed "no thank you" before sitting on my lap.

"Jackle! Get off, silly!"

He smiled and lifted me up off the chair and carried me all the way to my bed.

I faked pouting. "I wasn't done being healthy!"

He smiled, but it didn't light up his face as usual. He grabbed my hands and looked deep in my eyes.

"Look, I think I'm really starting to like you Ash. No, I know I like you."

I smiled and nodded eagerly for him to continue.

He half-smiled. The fake one. Again. "That's why I'm going back to talk to the other ghosts. I need to...I need to...officially...die."

My jaw must have hit the floor. My ears turned glassy with tears.

I looked away, holding my knees to my chest. I croaked, trying to make words come out, but I ended up just speaking my mind...with my mind.

If that makes any sense.

One friend. All I have is one friend. One I'm about to lose. One I'm about to lose so soon after moving. One I'm about to lose that I don't want to lose. No. Why are you leaving me, Jackle? Why are you doing this to me? You showed me your garden, you're secret place. I've never stopped thinking about you. And in all honesty, I don't want to. Can you honestly look me in the eyes and say that you don't care about me--at all? Not as a friend or...or...m-m-ore. Because, I can't do the same for you. I--I just can't...

And with that I sloppily threw a pillow in his general direction and ran out the door, grabbing your car keys, not waiting for a response of rejection...

I quickly opened the door with a shaking hand, pajamas on and all, igonred Jackle calling me, tears flowing steadily.

I put the key in the ignition and tried to turn it.

Needless to say, I ended up sitting there, in my driveway, bawling my eyes out.

Eventually, I laid my head on the steering wheel and cried quietly for what seemed like an eternity.

I knew he was right there.

I knew he was sitting behind the car in my driveway, Indian style.

He wouldn't let me go.

I knew that.

So, basically, I locked the doors, still angry, hurt, and uber confused, knowing he could come get in the car anytime he wanted being the dead boy that he was.

But all I did was sit and sit.

It seemed like hours.

Finally, he got up from behind me and walked back into my house.

I know he saw me flinch when he walked past.

I wasn't scared of him, I just wanted him to be hurt, like I was.

Why is this happening to me?!?

Jackle's Point of View.

I sighed and walked inside.

I probably hadn't approached this topic the best way I could have.

Ah, well. I had to fix that now.

I grabbed a post-it, the heart kind, the one Ash and her mom liked, and wrote on it: "Ash, please, if you can find a way in your heart, come talk to me when you're ready. If you never want to see me again, so be it. I decided my own fate by saying those horrible things to you. Please talk to me. -Jackle."

I walked outside to see her curled up in a ball, asleep in the driver's seat.

I stuck the post-it on her windshield and waited for her to wake up.

I sat in the grass and watched her sleep.

I didn't deserve her. Not now, not ever.

I waited until she finally read my note, then got up.

She slowly stepped out of her, car, stretching and rubbing her eyes, which were reluctanntly adjusting to the bright sunlight.

She sat down in the grass about 5 feet away from me, timidly biting her nails as the tears started to flow again.

I sighed and said, "I don't think we're going to work...ever."

She turned away from me and ran...right into...

Ha ha. I know, I'm evil. A cliffhanger. But if you rate high/message me/add me/ whatever/oh and make a banner, I will be eternally grateful and the next chapter will be very long. And very exciting. :]
