Sorry it took so long! ^__^””

~Story Start~

Mizuko sat on the sofa in the foyer kicking her feet. It was almost five o’ clock which meant it was almost time for class. Arashi descended the staircase. Mizuko’s face lit up at the sight of another living being,

“Good morning Shi-Chan!”

“What’s so good about it?”

“Why do you have to be like that, I was just trying to make conversation.”

Mizuko pouted and Arashi slightly smiled at her disappointment but the smile vanished as Aido, being chased by Kain, ran down the stairs,

“WATCH IT!”

“Sorry Arashi!”

“Aido, give me my notebook!”

“Catch me if you can.”

Mizuko smiled and stuck out her foot. Aido tripped right over it.

“ACK!”

“Oops….did I do that?”

“You know you did.”

Mizuko smiled. She snatched up the notebook and tossed it Kain,

“Here you go.”

“Thanks.”

After about ten minutes, the rest of the Night Class showed up. They made their way to the front gates and waited for them to open. There was a loud noise coming from the other side. Mizuko got slightly nervous,

“Are there lots of people on the other side of that gate?”

“Just most of the Day Class girls and some of the Day Class guys.”

She turned to Ichijo to say something but he’d turned to Arashi, trying once again to make conversation. Mizuko felt a hand on her shoulder,

“Don’t worry.”

“Kaname?”

“They’re only humans. They won’t bite.”

“Yeah but I….I can’t be-“

The gates opened and everyone started to walk. Mizuko walked a bit and then jogged to where Arashi was. She looked at some of the students but then would look at the ground. Arashi saw this,

“You don’t like crowds?”

She nodded,

“Oh that’s right, mermaids are sensitive to a large number of people seeing them at one time.”

Mizuko started to walk a little faster. She reached the school building and went to one side of the hall. She leaned against the wall and ran a hand through her hair. She took a few deep breaths and sighed,

“I wish the Headmaster would’ve told me, I would’ve taken a different route to the school.”

“Why?”

“It’s a genetic thing.”

She walked away from Rima who had seen that she was uncomfortable around the Day Class and had become slightly concerned. She shrugged it off and followed her to class.

~~~Later……..
It was about ten o’ clock when the Night Class began walking back to their dorm. Arashi and Mizuko talked amongst themselves while walking a bit farther back from the other students. Mizuko had her mischievous smile back,
“Do you think they know our secret yet?”
“I bet they do. I read your records last night.”
“I kinda guessed you had. That or you got it from the fact that I smell like chlorine from the pool I have at my house. I read your profile as well. Now I know why your suitcase had scorch marks on it.”
“At least mine wasn’t partially waterlogged.”
“HEY!”
“You opened the door.”
“MEH!”
The Night Class reached their dorm and walked inside. Aido stretched and yawned,
“Daaaamn, that class was boring!”
“I know, I hate ethics.”
Mizuko left to get a bottle of water from the kitchen while the others called Arashi over.
“What’s up?”
“Could we ask you two some questions.”
The demon sighed,
“How did I know this was coming?”
Mizuko skipped back in and sat next to Arashi.
“I heard tell of an interrogation from the kitchen. Ask away!”
Ichijo spoke up,
“Where were you two born?”
Mizuko answered first,
“I was born in the seas just South of the port in Nagasaki.”
“SO YOU ARE A MERMIAD?!”
“Calm down Aido, you’ll scare her.”
Arashi sighed,
“Well, I was born very near the summit of Mt. Fuji but I grew up mainly in the forest. After I turned ten I went to live in the spirit realm.”
“OH! And I got caught by a travelling circus so I’ve been all across Japan! After I left the circus, I went to Kyoto for a while and joined the Shinsengumi!”
Arashi turned to the hyper active water child,
“The Shinsengumi?
Are you serious?”
“Yes.”
Kaname got an odd glint in his eye,
“I’d like to know the real reason why you two are here.”
Mizuko got a serious look on her face and Arashi glared at Kaname,
“I’m here because I have a score to settle with someone who’s on their way here. I don’t know why Arashi is here.”
“I’m here because there’s something on the school grounds that belongs to me and I would like to have it back.”
“I see. So the magic and alchemy was a lie…”
“No, not completely. I’ll be helping with the magic, Shi-chan here will help you with alchemy.”
“Stop calling me Shi-chan!”
“Make me!”
Mizuko continued to poke fun at Arashi until Ruka spoke up,
“Um….Mizu-chan?”
“Yyyyeessssss?”
“There’s a pool here on the school grounds, could you show us how you look as a mermaid?”
“Sure! Show me where it is, I haven’t gone swimming in months! It’s a wonder I haven’t died.”
Arashi sighed,
“Oh please, you’re so over dramatic.”
Ruka led them to the pool and the others stood back. Mizuko had changed into a dress-like thing before they left. She stretched and then took a few steps back before running up and diving into the water,
“WAHOOOO!!!!”
She was underwater for few moments before she leapt into the air and did a backflip, casting her shadow over the full moon,
Here’s the closest thing I could get to what she looks like in her mermaid form. I drew a picture but I don’t have a scanner. -_____- :
Ruka and Rima squeeled,
“Soooo pretty!!”
Aido was blushing and whistling. Kain smacked Aido on the back of the head,
“Be quiet you nincompoop.”
Ichijo smiled,
“This is so cool. To think we’d have such extraordinary beings like Genkina-san and yourself in the Night Class is truly an honor, Jigoku-san.”
“If you say so, Ichijo-san.”
Kaname also smiled,
“Beautiful.”
Mizuko swam to the side of the pool,
“Unless the myth about vampire and water is true, get in here! Don’t make me drag you in!”
Ruka and Rima willingly jumped in as did Aido making water splash everywhere. Kain took off his shirt and jacket and jumped in too. Ichijo did the same. Kaname just watched them from the side of the water. Arashi attentively stuck one foot in,
“EEP! It’s too cold!”
“You would say that. Hold on”
Mizuko’s hands glowed bright red. She raised one towards the moon and kept one in the water. Rima paused,
“What are you doing, Mizu-chan?”
“I’m channeling the light energy from the moon to the water to make it slightly warmer to Shi-chan will swim with us.”
It worked. Arashi stuck her foot in again,
“……fine….”
She slid in and dunked her head under water before resurfacing.
“I haven’t been in water for a long time, I’d forgotten what it was like…..I still prefer land.”
Mizuko swam to Kaname,
“Kaname, jump in!”
“No thanks.”
“Alrihgt, you force me to this.”
She dove underwater then unexpectedly resurfaced and dragged him into the water. She laughed,
“See? It’s not so bad.”
Whatever anger he had vanished when he saw her laughing. He sighed,
“Yeah, I guess you’re right.”
“Now, what about Shiki?”
“He can’t swim.”
“WHAT?!?!? Can’t swim?”
This is shorter than it was going to be but Nya-Sama wanted to read it. I’ll add the outtakes eventually just not write now. ^__^
