~Wow~ I thought to myself. ~It was her. My idol and hero lying before me, as dead as my dreams of
ever becoming as famous as her were.~ Let's got back an hour shall we?
"Lilly baby we're not going through this again!" a man groans.
"I know you were out with her again Johnny!" a woman in a black silk robe shouts.
"I was working all day Lil! I swear, you're losing your mind! Besides, I know about Walter, that hot shot lawyer who's always hang'n around here!"
"Walter is a good man Johnny! Unlike you he's interesting in what I have to say, interested in being my friend!"
"Ha! He's interested in being a lot more than your friend Lilly! I see the way he looks at ya. Eye'n you up like you're a free woman! Nope you're just a floozy!
" I will not be talked to like that!"
Lilly rears around and reaches into her drawer and pulls out a small pistol.
"You're dead to me Johnny and to everyone else."
She pulled the trigger before Johnny had a chance to react he was down.
~I have to make this look like a burglary~ Lilly thinks in a panic. ~What have I done~ She picks up
a match and lights her fireplace, emptying the gun carefully, as to not touch the bullets, and tossing it
into the fire. Lilly then takes a scarf of Johnny's and knocks over various objects also being careful as
to not touch them then chucks the scarf into the burning fire.
"My career is over!" Lilly sobs "Once they find out I'm a murderer."
She reaches into her purse and pulls out a small pill bottle. Emptying it of its contents she lies on the
floor waiting to be found.
And thats where I come in, forensic investigator and head of the police department, Vivian
Thomas. A major accomplishment for a woman of this age. Unheard of in most places, but then again
nothing is too outrageous in Hollywood, except maybe the chance of a big wig police woman ever
becoming an actress. Yea I've always dreamed of staring in films, ever since I was young. My father
ever approved though. It was always, "You have to stay in the force like your pops."
I don't know why though. The men there never accepted me. It look me fifteen years just to get
them to take an order from me. Now I'm stuck here investigating the murder of my idol Lilly Wite
and her current lover, Johnny Chamberland.
The cause of death to Johnny was apparent, gun shot to the head. Yep, whoever wanted to do him in
wanted it done fast. Lilly on the other hand, perplexed us. She showed signs of an overdose, but
there was no traces of pain killers in her system.
As I helped carry her body down to the coroner something seemed unsettling. I could have sworn I felt a pulse for a second.
