Bittersweet taste of William Beckett on your lips
Chapter 10 : Bittersweet Taste of William Beckett on your lips [10] -
He doesn’t call me. I don’t expect him too. He hurt me, so I hurt him, why should he call? I want him to, I want him to so badly but he doesn’t. Monday has come and I’m sitting in the cafe reading over my chemistry notes, oh how I loved chemistry. As I read I see a shadow dawn over me, I turn around and gasp.
“Beckett, you look like hell.” William had dark purple under his eyes, his hair was a mess yet, still sexy and his clothes looked like he hadn’t washed them in months.
“I feel like hell Jenna-“
“What did you just call me?”
“Jenna. I always call you Jenna.”
“No. You USED to, but not anymore. It’s Jasey, not Jenna. I’m not Jenna, not to you.” He looks at me suspiciously and then sits down.
“I’m sorry, ok? I want us to be friends again-“
“So do I.”
“I want it to be like before. How we were before. I want to be the last one you talk to before you sleep again.”
“Well you screwed that one over now, didn’t you? I call Mike before bed now.”
“Mike? MIKE? Why him? Why not me?”
“Because you hurt me Bill! You hurt me more than anyone has before which is a lot because I went through a lot back in Can-“I stop myself short before I continue. I close my mouth tightly and glare at him; again I almost ruined everything because of him.
“What happened to you Jasey? What could have possibly been so bad that you shut yourself up like this? Even before you kept yourself so hidden from me, it was always me and never you we used to talk about. What happened?” He grabs my arms and squeezes hard.
“Nothing, ok? Just skip it, don’t worry about it.” I look away from him and see Mike walking into the cafeteria. “Mike!” I stand up, breaking William’s hold, and run to him. He holds out his arms to me and I run into them and wrap my arms around me while he wraps his and kisses the top of my head.
“Hey Jasey! I missed you sweetheart” he pulls away to look at me. His smile drops to a frown as he sees that I’m crying and then looks at William, who now was standing up facing us. “Why are you crying, Jase? What happened?”
“N-nothing, don’t worry about it Mike.” I take his hand and try to reassure him everything’s fine but, by his facial expression and the way his eyes darkened I could see he knew it wasn’t and he blame William.
“Bill Beckett, what the hell did you do? Why would you make her cry you god forsaken son of a-“I grab his arm as he steps forward.
“Mike! It, it wasn’t him! I tripped walking over to my table and slammed my head off the table, he was only helping me. Mike, don’t worry, I’m ok.” I step in front of him, take his face in my hands and force him to look at me. “Everything is fine, I’m just clumsy.” He looks at me and then back at Bill.
“...Ok. Ok fine. Let me see your head” he examines my forehead and the kisses it and wraps his arms around me once again. “No markings everything is fine.”
“Yeah.” I look back at William who had turned around and walking to the back of the cafe, “everything is perfect.”
Shaken and faint, it was the hardest thing to swallow.
Pretending you don't miss me.
