Chapter 7 : (8) Stories yet to unfold, tales that must be retold - William Beckett
“What was the name of the forth song you played last night?” Maggs asked popping her head round our bus door.
“Black Mamba.” Michael answered not looking up, I couldn’t remember that’s for sure.
“Cheers, I love that one.” she said before disappearing.
There was silence before Mike suddenly jumped up and ran outside, Emma was shouting at Maggs about something, from my spot I could see a red mark down Maggs face, thinking it might help I went outside as well.
“To think I loved you like a sister.” Emma spat as Maggs just stood there in open mouthed shock. “Then you completely drop us as soon as you find a new friend.”
“I didn’t drop you; you two stopped returning my phone calls and emails.” Maggs said quietly. “What was I meant to keep ringing and hoping that you’d ring back and put everything on hold just in case I miss a call?”
“Keep ringing yes – where are you going?” she shouted, as Maggs walked away.
“Emma, just go on the bus and calm down.” Mike said from behind her. she tried to break free from his grip and follow Maggs but he wouldn’t let her and soon Kyle was next too us.
“You know more than we do, what happened?” Mike said a little coldly.
“Came home one day to find Maggs crying, it’d been 3 months since Em or Lou had returned a call, I saw her call every Monday and Thursday morning before we went to music.” He had his hands in his jacket pocket and I could see him gripping something tight.
“That’s a lie!” Emma sobbed, “She didn’t call and when we called her we got some chick telling us the phone was disconnected. The least she could do was forward her new number.”
“Well I don’t know how you missed it, we sent a mass email to everyone and they all got it fine, didn’t you think about asking her mum for the number?” he was saying this all calmly, he’s amazing. “Took me 3 weeks to get her away from that phone and make new friends.”
“Right can we forget this?” he asked. “I don’t want her getting depressed again.” He smiled curtly before walking back to the stylist’s bus.
But it didn’t stop, as soon as we were on the bus again Em was on the phone to Lou and they were bitching on speaker phone. I put my head phones in and tried to sleep, just as I was nearly there I was woken by Gabe.
