"I still can't even begin to understand this" Jack laughed, shaking his head
School got out 3 hours ago and since then Alex and I managed to explain everything that's going on to the guys. Well, Rian and Zack got it, they couldn't stop laughing and telling us how badly we fucked ourselves over, but they got it. Jack still can't get ahold of the idea. He's the one that's always gotten stuck in the middle of Alex and I's arguments, so I guess it's harder for him to swallow. He knows how harsh we've been to each other.
"this will ultimately lead to even worse things, you know that right?"
"well yeah, but there's no way getting out of it now" I mumbled
"I diagree, I don't get how this could lead to something bad" Alex shook his head
"thus, you'll be the source of it" Jack smirked "just keep in mind it's a fake relationship Alex, never let that leave your mind"
"you're overreacting" Alex rolled his eyes
"so what are we doing tonight?" Jack asked, changing the subject
"considering it's a monay and I'm grounded? Not much" I sighed
"still?" Fuck, your mom just needs to get over it"
"just another week left, then I'm free" I shrugged
"you never told me why you got grounded" Alex pointed out
"no big deal, just something that happened over summer break" I shrugged again
"Samantha? Why is there a car parked out front? I told you no visitors for another week" my mom's voice rang throughout the house, she was home from work early
"she let me visit you last week, briefly" Alex mumbled
"you forget that my mom loves you" I rolled my eyes
"we were just helping Sammy with her homework Ms. Kay" Jack responded for me, grabbing my backpack off mybedroom floor quickly and pulling out whatever books he could find
"well, I guess that's okay" he voice sounded closer, soon my door swung open "oh, Alex, is that your car?" she smiled
"yeah, sorry, did you need me to move it?"
"no it's fine, I just didn't know you were over too"
My mom has always had a weak spot with Alex. It might have something to do with him being my former oldest friend. We met in kindergarten ad were attached at the hip before high school. Then when we stopped hanging out my mom was probably more devistated than I was.
Of course, this isn't to imply she disliked Jack. Infact, Jack is probably a dangerously close second for my mom's favorite friend of mine, but I think the sudden frequent visits from Alex has made her get excited again.
"oh I think I'll be over a lot more often now" Alex smirked, slinking an arm around my waist
Jack and I exchanged looks, he was obviously amused by the fact that I was hating this. I'd have to fake it around my own house now too.
"oh, good to hear" mom grinned then looked at me "I knew you'd find someone your age" she smiled
"sure" I mumbled, I could tell Jack was doing his best to keep from laughing, Alex looked confused
"what are you doing home so early today?" Jack asked
"problems with the computers at the office, so Paul and I will be working out of my office here for the next few days" she explained
the mention of Paul instantly caught my attention and made Jack glance quickly towards me
"oh, Paul's here?" I tried to make it sound like it didn't matter much
"yes, so I think it's best if you have dinner over at Jack's tonight" she said sternly
"well, you guys can come to my house, my mom won't mind" Alex spoke up
"sure" Jack shrugged
"yeah, fine" I mumbled
"good" she grinned and left the room
"I hate her" I sighed and fell back on my bed
"find a guy your age, hmm?" Alex smirked "would that have anything to do with the reason your grounded?"
"shut up" I laughed
"let's go to your house dude, I have a feeling her mom will be making frequent stops in here since Paul is over" Jack spoke up
"yeah, sure, let's go" he nodded and lead the way downstairs and outside to his car
"so explain to me this older guy business" Alex insisted as we got in and he started the car
"Paul is an intern for my mom, he wants to be a lawyer" I explained
"he's 23" Jack smirked
"in all fairness, he was 22 when said situation we're talking about happened" I explained
"pretty sure he had a birthday in the middle somewhere, Sam"
"still"
"still, he's 23"
"you dated a 23 year old? Is he aware you're only 17?" Alex asked, sounding a bit angry
"technically it wasn't dating and I turn 18 next weekend so drop it" I defended
"he was seeing you exclusively Sam, it was dating" Jack laughed
"you're jailbait Samantha, no wonder your mom is pissed" Alex shook his head
"oh shut up" I rolled my eyes
"what did you guys do together?" he asked
"don't talk to me like I'm 10, if you wanna know something then just flat out ask because we both know what you're getting at" I smirked
"fine, did you fuck him?"
"yes, does it matter?" I replied with just as much attitude as he was giving me
"why do these arguments always happen when I'm around?" Jack sighed
"yes it matters Sam!, Jesus christ, that's horrible"
"oh my god, it's not like I was a virgin, Alex! Hello, v-card has been gone for a long while now"
"plus, dude, you really don't have a right to say anything" Jack chimed in
"right! that girl you dated last year" I smirked
"what and how do you know about that?" Alex asked, confused
"I know she was 21 ad you were 17 and I know that you dated for a while" I replied, feeling smug
"how do you know?"
"please, you and I share the same best friend, he's bound to tell me things" I laughed
"and how come you didn't tell me about this Paul guy?" Alex asked Jack
"well, it happened over the summer, I don't tell you things immediately, not when it comes to Samantha" Jack shrugged
"and just because you're 18 now, you think it's okay to talk down to me about my situation" I laughed
"whatever, it's different, your mom was right to ground you. Stick with boys in your own age group"
"right, fake douchebag boyfriendsare so much better" I said, my words dripped with sarcasm
"whatever, fine, we're dropping this" Alex sighed as we pulled up to his house
I should have just kept my mouth shut.
