Since Jeff and I are talking now, I’d let him drive my car which was a bad idea because he drives like hell in it. I guess he really likes driving my car.

“No offence Jeff but you’re gonna get us killed soon” I smiled sarcastically. He rolled his eyes.

“Wanna listen to Metallica?” I asked.

“Sure” he replied. I opened the compartment box and grabbed out a CD. I plopped it in and the first song blared through the speakers.

“It’s a bit loud don’t you think?!” Jeff yelled over the loud music.

“That’s what makes it so great!” I yelled back and Jeff laughed. We played through the whole CD till I placed it back in the compartment box. I looked outside the window to see that we were driving past a beach.

“Wanna go to the beach?” he asked.

“Yeah” I replied.

“Alright, I’ll let Matt know” he said as we pulled up into a parking spot.

The phone conversation:

JH=Jeff M=Matt

M: Yo.

JH: Matt, its Jeff.

M: Oh hey, what’s going on? Wait…don’t tell me… you and Jade are arguing again aren’t you?

JH: *laughs* No Matt we’re not. We’re just thinking about maybe stopping at the beach. Wanna come?

M: Nah, I’ve gone way past it. You guys go ahead and we’ll meet up at the next gas station.

JH: Okay, you sure?

M: Positive, besides, gotta leave you two lovebirds alone so I don’t wanna be a third party and get in the way.

JH: Matt, will you shut up about that. It’s getting pretty annoying now.

M: Hey I’ll stop until you ask her out.

JH: I’ll talk to you about it later.

M: Okay, okay.

JH: Yeah, I better let you go.

M: No worries have fun.

JH: Have fun driving.

M: Damn, you suck.

JH: *laughs* Anyway, cya later man.

M: Right, catch ya.

JH: Bye.

Jeff hung up the phone.

“So is Matt coming along?” I asked.

“Nah but he’ll meet us at the next gas station” he replied. I swear he sounded rather happy.

“Oh okay”. He nodded.

“Ready to go?” he asked.

“Yep” I replied as I was about to unbuckle my seat belt, Jeff spoke.

“Stay there”. He hopped out of the car and he slammed the door behind him. He jogged over to my side and opened the door.

“Thanks Jeff” I giggled as I hopped out of the car. He slammed the car door then he slapped my ass. I yelped as Jeff wrapped his arm around me.

“Jeff, you slap my ass again and there will be serious consequences” I warned.

“Sorry I couldn’t help myself” he chuckled as we started walking down the wooden stairs that lead to the beach.

“So I guess you forgive me about that night?” I asked.

“I can tell you this, I was a little upset and pissed off, but it doesn’t matter no more” he replied.

“Oh that reminds me, we still gotta train you” he reminded.

“Oh that’s right, I forgot about that” I said.

“Why? Did you keep thinking about me?” he asked being a smartass so I punched him in the arm playfully and he laughed. We were now pretty much pacing around in the water of the ocean. Jeff was facing the other way so I decided to pull a little tiny prank on him.

“Hey Jeff” I called out.

“Yeah?” he asked as he turned around at that point, I kicked my foot up from the water which splashed Jeff in the face. He had his eyes closed and water was dripping from his hair and face. He opened his eyes and glared at me.

“Surprise?” I asked shrugging my shoulders. He formed a smirk on his face. I knew I was in deep shit.

“Oh shit” I gulped. He slowly began walking towards me and stood right in front of me. I nervously chuckled.

“I’ll give you a 5 second head start, 1…2…” he began so I made a run for it.

“…3…4…5!” he finished and chased after me. I turned a bit to see Jeff catching up towards me.

“Shit!” I yelled and ran faster. He caught up and tackled me to the ground. We both started laughing.

“Help me up” I laughed. He helped me up so now we were both sitting up chuckling a little until a sudden ringing went off. Jeff grabbed his phone out and answered.

The phone conversation:

JH=Jeff S=Shannon

JH: Yeah?

S: Are you’s two going out yet?

JH: Uh no, who told you?

S: Little birdie told me.

JH: Okay and what’s that little birdie’s name, Shannon?

S: Matt…wait…fuck.

JH: What’s he been saying?

S: He’s been talking non stop about how he’s been noticing signs between you two plus he told us you want to ask her out but you’re afraid she might say no.

JH: Well…yeah, wait, us?

S: Yeah, me, Lita, Shawn, Hunter and Gil knows.

JH: Dad?
S: Yeah I guess so.

Jeff seemed to be fuming but tried to be calm as possible.

JH: Really?

S: Yeah, you alright? You sound pretty pissed off.

JH: No, I’m fine. Someone’s ass is gonna get kicked, that’s all.

S: Oh, well I better get going. See you when you get back.

JH: Yeah, sure. Bye.

He hung up.

“Everything okay?” I asked worriedly.

“Uhh…yeah…we need get going” he replied quickly but nervously. I’m almost certain he’s hiding something. I just decided to play along.

“Oh, okay” I said and we walked back up to the car. As soon as we hopped in the car, I asked Jeff

“Are you sure you’re okay? You seem…tense”. He looked at me and I can tell something’s up.

“I’m fine” he smiled. We reversed out and onto the road and drove off again.

“Who’s ass is gonna get kicked?” I asked.

“Matt’s”

“Why?”. He didn’t say anything so I just dropped it. Boredom took me over so I went to sleep. I could hear faint arguing in the background so I winced my eyes open a little to see the brothers fighting, but not as bad. I quickly unbuckled my seatbelt, hopped out of the car and walked over.

“Guys, what’s going on? Why are you two fighting?” I asked. They both stopped and looked at me.

“Hey” Matt said.

“Had a good sleep?” Jeff added. I wasn’t buying it.

“Guys, it’s time to confess, what the hell is going on?” I asked placing a hand on my hip. They didn’t say anything as Jeff put his head down.

“Fine, you know what, maybe I should go back home” I said turning around.

“No” Jeff spoke grabbing my arm which caused me to face him.

“Don’t” he added.

“How convincing. Why should I? You’re both keeping secrets from me, I just know it” I said yanking my arm away.

“I promise I’ll tell you at the party” he said. I folded my arms.

“Just trust me on this. I will tell you” he almost begged. Trust, the one word I can’t stand.

“Okay, fine” I sighed letting my arms drop to the side.

“Thank you” he said hugging me. I hugged back.

“I think…I just need to drive alone. I’ll follow you guys” I considered.

“You sure?” Matt asked and I nodded.

“Alright, we’ll see each other when we get together” he added.

“Yep” I smiled. Jeff kissed my cheek, smiled and left. All of us hopped in separate cars and drove onto the road.

“When you told her that you were gonna talk to her about what we’ve been talking about, you’re gonna ask her out, aren’t you?” Matt asked as they were driving along.

“Well of course I’m gonna tell her what we’ve been saying and yeah I am gonna ask her out” Jeff smiled.

“Aha, good on ya, bro!” Matt grinned and Jeff laughed. My cell phone started ringing so I picked it up, answered and put it on loud speaker.

The phone conversation:

J=Jade L=Lita

J: Hello?

L: Jade? It’s Lita.

J: Oh hey, what’s up?

L: Nothing much. How long would you guys be you know?

J: I would say a couple of hours.

L: Sweet. What’s wrong? You sound a little annoyed.

J: *sighs* I think Matt and Jeff are up to something.

L: How?

J: I have no idea. I just feel like they’re up to something.

L: Okay, confession time. Jeff like’s you a lot-

J: Yeah I know…as a friend…right?

L: Umm no…MORE than a friend.

I stopped dead in my tracks. I didn’t say anything because I was speechless.

L: Jade, you okay?

J: Uhh…yeah…just a bit…surprised.

L: Don’t worry; what they’re up to is good, not bad.

J: Thanks Lita I knew I could count on you.

L: Anytime, anyways I better let you go. I’ll see when you guys get back.

J: Okay, see you later.

L: Bye.

She hung up. How could Jeff like me? I’m a McMahon for crying out loud. Well yeah Jeff was an asshole to me at first then he became really sweet. Well I guess you could say I have a crush on Jeff too, but I can’t be certain yet. I’m so confused. I’m just gonna act out like everything is normal. I arrived at the Hardy house with Jeff and Matt waiting at the front. They both shook their heads with their arms folded. I hopped out of the car.

“Where the hell have you been?” Jeff asked. Okay, I guess they’re playing concerned parents now. Excellent role-play.

“We’ve been waiting for an hour, where have you been, young lady?” Matt asked.

“Who are you, my father?” I asked.

“Relax, it’s just a joke” Matt laughed.

“I know, I was playing along” I said.

“Oh”. I shook my head. Just then, a pair of hands has been placed over my eyes.

“Guess who?” asked the familiar person.

“Hello Shannon” I replied. He took his hands away and stood in front of me.

“Dang, how did you know it was me?” he asked.

“Wild guess” I replied.

“Oh, right”.

“When was the party again?” I asked.

“Tomorrow night” Matt replied.

“Sweet. Can’t wait to get wasted…again” I said.

“But you’re gonna have to stay with Jeff at all times” Matt pointed and Jeff agreed.

“Yes DAD” I said emphasizing. Jeff then flicked my ear.

“Ow! What was that for?” I asked.

“For talking to Matt like that” he joked.

“Yeah, for talking to me like that” Matt added.

“Don’t push it” Jeff said to his brother. They noticed the look on my face meaning I was ready to strike like an eagle watching and locking its prey.

“Should we make a run for it?” Jeff whispered.

“You can. I didn’t flick her now did I?” Matt asked walking away with Shannon.

“Good luck” Shannon called out.

“Oh, you’re such a good brother and friend” Jeff replied sarcastically. I tapped his shoulder. He turned his head slowly towards me.

“Bye” he said and ran for his life. I chased after him.

“You’re gonna get it Hardy!” I yelled.

“I don’t think so!” he yelled back and ran faster.

I ran faster and didn’t seem to catch up to him; in fact, he was nowhere to be seen. He just disappeared out of thin air so I stopped running and started walking. I was aware of my surroundings. I would look to the side to see if something was coming towards me. I heard a few tree branches snap so I looked quickly. Nothing. I kept walking.

“Jeff!” I called. No answer. Oh shit, this can’t be good.

“Come on Jeff, this isn’t funny no more!” I was panicking a little. My heart was racing at an incredible speed. I knew my fear would come true, walking alone in the woods. I then noticed a small wooden cubby house from a far and I think I saw Jeff so I jogged up to it. I opened the door but it was a bit stiff so I pulled as hard as I could, but ended up flying backwards then landing on my ass. Jeff poked his head out the door.

“Oh hello. Long time no see” he said being a smartass. I sat up and glared at him.

“Just kidding” he chuckled and walked over. He extended his hand out. I grabbed his hand and he helped me up. I dusted myself off.

“So um, what have we got here?” I asked referring to the cubby house.

“Oh that, yeah Matt and I built it when we were younger” he replied folding his arms.

“Looks pretty cool” I complimented.

“Thanks. Wanna take a look inside?” he asked. I nodded and we both walked inside.

“I just discovered it now when you were chasing after me” he said.

“Ah” I said. I took a step forward when I heard glass shatter. I looked down and took my foot off of it. I picked it up and took a look. It was a picture of a man, a woman and their children at Christmas time.

“Jeff” I called out. He walked up to me.

“Yeah?” he asked. I handed the picture to him.

“Wow. I remember that moment” he said.

“Everyone remembers their memories by looking at the photos” I said.

“Not every memory is great. This one is painful”

“Why?”. He sighed.

“Well, that’s my dad, me and my brother” he said pointing out the people in the photo.

“Who’s that?” I asked pointing to the woman in the picture. He didn’t say anything for a few minutes until he spoke.

“That’s my mum” he said softly.

“Where is she?” I asked. I could see tears forming up in the corner of his eyes.

“She…passed on” he replied softly.

“Oh Jeff, I’m so sorry” I apologized hugging him. Tears were rolling down his cheek and he hugged back. We were like that for a little while till we both let go. Jeff took a deep breath and places the picture on a nearby small wooden table.

“You gonna okay?” I asked softly. He nodded and sniffed a couple of times. We both changed the subject.

“That reminds me” he smirked. My eyes popped open a little. I knew what was gonna happen.

“I still gotta get you back for splashing me at the beach” he said walking closer to me and I was stepping back till I hit a corner. Shit, I’m trapped. He placed his hands on the sides of the walls and leaned in.

“Oh boy, I’m dead” I said in a high-pitched tone. He chuckled. He leaned in closer until his lips were locked with mine. I closed my eyes. We kept kissing as I wrapped my arms around his neck. His hands travelled down my sides and stopped at my waist. We kept going like that for a few minutes till my hands slid down his chest and I took off his shirt. I chucked it somewhere and we resumed kissing. It was spitting with rain outside.

“God, where are they?” Matt asked.

“Maybe they’re talking somewhere” Lita replied.

“They could be in that cubby house you guys made” Shannon suggested.

“Well, wherever they are, I’m gonna text Jeff, see where they’re at” said Matt grabbing out his phone and started texting.

Jeff and I were still making out in the cubby house. My leg was wrapped around his and my arms were still wrapped around his neck. We pulled away for air. We were both panting. He leaned his forehead against mine.

We both smiled a little and kissed.

“Jade, there’s something I wanna ask you” he said.

“What is it?” I asked. He opened his mouth to reply when he was interrupted by a text message hitting his phone. He sighed in frustration as he grabbed his phone from his pocket. I unwrapped my leg and placed it on the ground.

The text message:

Where r u man? where’s jade?

“We gotta head back. Matt’s getting worried” Jeff said.

“Okay” I said. He picked up his shirt and chucked it back on.

“What were you gonna ask me?” I asked.

“I’ll ask you later” he replied giving me a sweet peck on the lips.

“Okay” I smiled a little. We clutched our hands together and laced fingers and we walked back to the house even though it was still spitting with rain.
